Anyone else hype for Ultra SF4? I haven't played since vanilla but it looks really tight. I cant decide if I want to play Poison or Yang. They both have Rekas but Yang has mobility, a command grab, and is getting straight buffs comming into ultra so he actually does damage.

I wish I had the money for an Xbox 1, just for Killer Instinct. That game looks fun as ****. Fulgore must be the epitome of badassery.

Also, I'm so hyped for Smash 4. But damn Wii U version coming out so late. WHY?

I'll play Ultra with my friends when they get it, but it won't be one of my main games. SF4 doesn't get my gears running as much.

I have never thought of Calvin as the success story you do Vigilante. I don't think he actually learns better, he doesn't learn period beyond the precocious slice of life philosophy stuff put into his mouth by Bill Watterson.

Or is misinterpreting the comic panel the joke?

Well that makes your problem pretty obvious. If you don't have good access to other players, maybe you could get netplay?

I feel like I'm never going to improve. I've been playing competitively for about 4 yrs now and I still barely place above last.
I can feel you. I had the same with Age of Empires 2 a while ago. It turned out that my multitasking was too bad to get good at RTS because I was constantly forgetting producing new villagers, keeping them busy, use my scout etc.
I would try to look for your weaknesses and bad habits especially. My progress in Smash was blocked a few times and mostly it was because:
- I went for options of which I thought they were good but they weren't
- I "forget" everything when playing human opponents, missing tech skills, doing bad rolls and so on

You're still having fun though, right? Don't hesitate to take a break from a game if it starts to feel like homework.

I play with monk at least an hr or two a day almost every day. I don't get to play other people outside of tourneys. :/

That's not true, you may feel like you're not improving, but I'm sure you are. If you're playing Monk everyday, try to outdo each other all the time, try new things every time you play.
Whenever I play Melee or Project M I always do fancy combo video stuff, I do it every game whenever I get the chance. I spend days/weeks trying stupid things like moonwalk reverse knee (Melee) and moonwalk grab or back-air with Sonic. I get beasted on a lot of the time for doing dumb things, but before I know it I'm landing all that stuff I was going for and incorporating it into my gameplay.
Long story short, I improve when I'm having fun with the game, maybe it might be the same for you. Just don't take it too seriously, it'll bring you down.

I was bored, so I wrote an article about the dual nature of smash:

http://press-z-or-r-twice.blogspot.ca/2014/05/v-behaviorurldefaultvmlo.html

(I suggest looking at the alternate text for the pictures :p)
For instances, when Topher played as Pichu at Melee singles at various events, he was approached by good players and told that he was very good with this unviable character and praised him.
Who is this person?

Does he have any video's? I want to see his Pichu ;_;

He used to me my crewmate until he moved away. He has a pretty decent Pichu, but as for vids, I actually looked around and found none, lol. I've only seen him place higher than last in Melee tournaments, meaning his Pichu is fairly good.

@ standardtoaster standardtoaster : You are probably improving but not realizing it. It can be a slow process, but you keep on going like Thomas the engine that could.

Killer instinct is actually really good. Took awhile to get used to combo breaking as such, but the game is mad fun.

I'll give it a try lol but I'm waiting for that smash 4 and Guilty Gear XRD.
Guilty gear is looking REALLY good.

I fight for my friends guys.

You're probably still significantly better than a good majority of the people. ;_;

I'd kill for a chance to play you to be honest lol.

I was hoping it was Ultra but that has a week or two to go I guess.

Anyone watching Street Fighter Assassin's Fist? I've watched 8 episodes so far and it's really well done. Tells the story of Ryu and Ken's training with Gouken.
