Can we make a separate thread just for pokemon. I'm 100% serious right now.
^Sadly this we also should have a disclosure warning label if that's the case. Thread may go off topic to Pokemon, waifus, politics, food, anime/manga and other topics that are not related to Project M whatsoever. Post and lurk in this thread at your risk."Project M Social Thread v2"
and pls, we've been Poketalking in here since 2011--since the old thread, which was restricted to (mostly) PM discussion
K series processors = unlocked processors. Means you can overclock them pretty easy and further than a locked processor. i7 is a slightly stronger line of processors, but you honestly don't need more than an i5 3570k (Ivy Bridge) or an i5 4670k (Haswell) when it comes to Dolphin. Dolphin will not benefit much from the extras you get in the i7 line, so my advice is only applying to what you need to run Dolphin well. If you are doing other feats like Streaming, or encoding, or blah blah stuff that takes advantage of what i7's offer, then by all means get one.Upon googling i5 I'm bombarded by quite a lot. Which i5, exactly? and what did you mean by k/unlocked? adding that to the search just get me i5 2500k and 3570k. Nothing about unlocking, far as I can tell. It also seems like it's just 100 more for an i7? Isn't that much better?
How did I even miss this? Thanks.I know you're on the lucas boards, theres litterallly a thread called implementing footstools lol.

everyone should check it out actually. Its pretty bs

looooooooooool
I have a 4670k and it handles dolphin fine but streaming and playing dolphin at the same time gives some some random frame drops, especially when there are a good amount of particles. I know several people with significantly worse computers than mine that run dolphin better than I do because they have an i7. If you are thinking about OC'ing an i5 make sure you have the proper heat sink as dolphin will run a 4670k rather hot even unclocked. If you have the money I might just go for an i7 but the 4670k is pretty amazing for most things and if you get an i5 I definitely recommend that. Just make sure your motherboard is haswell compatible obviously.K series processors = unlocked processors. To put it in perspective, paying $100 more for the i7 equivalent of what I'm recommending, might give you a Dolphin performance increase of 2-4% (and this is before overclocking, where afterwards the difference would be further reduced).
i fail to see any problem with thisAnd now Wii and DS wi-fi is now gone. I knew you well.
EDIT: And I cant get on Allisbrawl whatsoever.
Well that's not too surprising, i7's are much better equipped for streaming and encoding. I don't think i7's are much better when it comes to specifically Dolphin though: compatability testing demonstrated for Ivy Bridge i5 vs i7 that with similar GPUs and Dolphin settings, the performance gap was negligible. Most of the i7 goodies aren't taken advantage of by Dolphin, so besides marginally better clock speeds and individual core performance, I can't think of what would noticeably put an i7 ahead for Dolphin. If they are getting much better performance than you, I'd compare both settings and both GPU's. AMD cards tend to run Dolphin better than Nvidia because of very strong integer math (they are also popular for bitcoin mining for similar reasons), so that could possibly explain the difference? Yo I remember that lol he got put on blast so hard from what I remember or folks gushing over him. IDK if it was the Japanese players or us U.S players busting his balls for doing typical dumb stuff.Allisbrawl has some legendary threads, M2K in Japan being the height of insanity.
If Pokémon talk is getting you down, just bring the thread back to Project M. Nobody is saying you can't interrupt that and inject something more relevant into the thread.
We also talk about Bees and girls, don't forget about those.^Sadly this we also should have a disclosure warning label if that's the case. Well yeah, for dolphin specifically it doesn't use hyperthreading(neither do most games actually) which is one of the main appeals of the i7 over an i5. For streaming i7 is significantly better which is unfortuante for me, but I haven't even OC'd my 4670k yet so we'll see how it goes when I push it from 3.2 -> 4.3 or so. I think my dolphin doesn't work well just because the program doesn't run the best haha I would probably get better results if I reinstalled it and rebuilt the ISO's but I'm lazy and don't play netplay anyways :/.Well that's not too surprising, i7's are much better equipped for streaming and encoding. People tell me all the time that I look like someone they know. So many clones of me on the loose x.x.@ Hylian
Today while I was casually walking through the mall I seen a man buying cinnamon buns who looked EXACTLY like you (p.s I still can't believe you don't look like link).
Smoke weed everyday.
How much RAM do you have and what speed is it? The 560 ti is pretty nice but it's starting to get a little outdated. I recently upgraded from a 550ti to 760 and man was it an improvement x.x.I've got one of these guys, and I still have weird performance issues in Dolphin. I've got a 560ti graphics card too, so I'm not really sure what the issue is. I'll have to check out my settings at some point.
I think you mean #Smash_Apprentice.Smash G0D with the Master Bait on S@X tonight...

https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/faq/Is having a graphics card at all really necessary for Dolphin?
I would check to see if your card is affected by the very recent Dolphin decision to remove the Vertex Hack option. Nvidia only recently added a feature in drivers that accomplishes the same thing, but some of the older cards either can't update to that driver version or have known issues with those new drivers. If I read correctly, even some of the cards in the 7xx series have had issues with this.I've got one of these guys, and I still have weird performance issues in Dolphin. Also just bought a new TV. Whoo.
Yes, sorta. It's true that the CPU will be the biggest need when it comes to Emulation, but you still want a real GPU and not onboard graphics. The burden for needing a "nice" GPU is so much lower, so you can be much more modest and have everything look nice. I can run most GC games at 1080p internal res without FPS drop. Wii games can give me a hard time, but I'm running a lower-mid range card that's from like 2009? So ya. I think anything above or at the 400 series for Nvidia, and anything past or at the mid 5000's for AMD, can run 90% of GC and Wii games at HD res without problems. That's pretty modest all things considered. Is having a graphics card at all really necessary for Dolphin?
