Heavily disagree but I would say the band director makes a gigantic difference.
He has (somewhat) valid complaints, that's not my issue. My problem is that he quite literally has a variety of ways in going around to stopping this problem. One of them is discussing with the various S-tier TOs that are in the same room as him. None of them is going on social media using a platform infamous for being vague and encouraging hiveminds.

The one here is pretty awful at least; no one learns scales (or equally basic/fundamental stuff) until college despite 'learning' for seven years beforehand. All you do is regurgitate what's on the sheet music.
If top 32 was bof that would suck for everyone because now everyone has to win at least one more game every set and probably more.
