As long the game doesn't actively try to stop me from going fast I'll probably enjoy the sonic game. It can be hard to ballance going fast to the right and actual game play without some sort of obstacles, but like, give me walls to jump over/roll under with good timing, or like puzzles/jumps/path splits that need a quick decision making or something. Don't throw spikes in the way of where I'm running, that feels like **** to play. Don't lock me in an arena and force me to jump on enemies/homing attack into them, that's stupid work enemies into the path of the level, make them open up different paths or something. Cut out some of the stupid side characters.

Oh and Chao garden pls

That's happened to me before.
Never before has the volume on my TV gone so high.

But I can never unhear the shame
For real, though, what's up with porn volume? Half that **** sounds like they recorded it it on 11, then cranked that sound up to 11 again in audio production phase.

I think you are grossly underestimating the sheer number of sonic fans, Bleck.

That and their typical schema.

This Sonic fans can be bonkers no offense to Sonic Fans in here. But then again any fanbase can be.

Other than the games being **** for like a decade straight, the Sonic fanbase was the main reason I stopped being a part of it. My first internet forum was actually a Sonic forum, I joined it nearly 10 years ago and spent a lot of time on it during middle school/early high school. A lot of the people that were around when I joined (the reason I kept going, since actually discussing Sonic became dreadful within a year of joining) slowly started disappearing, and new cliques formed that I wasn't part of (or really wanted to be part of), so it stopped being fun. I had also joined Smashboards by then, so I just kinda dipped.

Super metroid lets me go fast.
Does Metroidvania have dank mobility options like walljump?

See? I told you people that 2003 was an amazing year for gaming.
Speaking of 2003, that was the year I got into fighting games with Soul Calibur 2. Talim was my main, with a Mitsurugi pocket. So many good memories with that game.

@PMS | Tink-er I'm glad I could help! Or at least, that my words didn't cause offense.

My experience in the Sonic fanbase wasn't terrible, like the group I was with (we played a sonic mod running off of the doom 2 engine) were mostly people who were 4-5 years older than me and weren't too far in the deep end. Things were heavily moderated too, and anyone who came up with their fan character would be criticized if it was just a crappy recolor.

I started separating myself with the group after some situations, when I realized that the "sub section" I was in wasn't the same anymore. The cool people left or changed into non-cool people, and I couldn't stand to talk to the others. And once the lead developer of the mod left to have a family, I figured it would be a good time to say goodbye as well. I still love that game however, I played it for around 6 years straight, and it acted as my getaway from being bullied at school, so it holds a special place in my heart

I just saw the kickstarter for Bloodstained. The heroine's design reminds me of Shanoa, which is a good thing, because I love Shanoa. The white-haired dude looks like Soma, which I'm also good with.
OH MY GOD ONE OF THE STRETCH GOALS IS DAVID HAYTER AS A VOICE ACTOR.
IGA, just take my damn money, please.

Damn, I missed page 1995! I could have dumped a bunch of Toy Story nonsense.

Anyways, how are you fine people?

One of these days I'm going to go through this whole thread and archive any noteworthy posts / trends all into a big post.

I hope you're all looking forward to me liking your posts from ages ago while I take on this task.

2003/2004 for the PS2/XBox/GC. We got some amazing games in both years, and for me at least, the two just blend so well together. Something magical happened back then that just didn't happen again.
As for the 360/PS3/Wii generation...No clue. I kinda stopped following gaming as closely around this time, and I never noticed a single year or period that absolutely stood out to me. Honestly, we haven't had a year with a high concentration of amazing games since 03/04, at least for me. We've had amazing games on their own, but not quite the quantity in a small timeframe.

I just checked, I started posting in this thread on page 168 but I didn't start regularly being here until around page 473. I should read the old social thread stuff like a book, a really long gif filled book.

2004 had TTYD, Metroid Prime 2, Viewtiful Joe 2, and the letdown that was Pokemon Colosseum, but wasn't really a good year for the Gamecube; it was the first year to make it blaringly obvious that the PS2 was the dominant force and where almost all the 3rd party games are released on. It doesn't help that Viewtiful Joe 1, once a Gamecube exclusive, was ported to the PS2 at this year.

Woah Colosseum letdown explain yourself? Also yeah I agree with 2004 not being a good year for the GC.

Colosseum was neat, but yeah it was a letdown.

There wasn't enough freedom; you only had one chance to catch several pokemon; the plot, though kind of novel, wasn't terribly gripping... There didn't feel like there was nearly as much or enough freedom. The world was so segmented, unlike the handheld games. All of them were basically tiny areas separated by long loading screens disguised as bike rides.

I don't think I ever finished that game, despite how hyped I was for it as a kid.

By 04 I actually owned an Xbox, PS2, GC, GBA, and a decent PC, so I was...very fortunate. I got to sample all the goods for that year, and they were fantastic. This gen was the last time I cared about console gaming. Since then, it's been all PC+Nintendo handheld.

I mean, a year in which we get SMT3:Nocturne, MGS3:SNake Eater, MP2:Echoes, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Half Life 2, and others is a pretty damn awesome year.

I got super lucky in yard sales, and my dad's big on computers. Otherwise, I would have had....basically just a PC and a GBA. Still pretty good, but I missing out on Nocturne and Snake Eater? I can't imagine what my gaming tastes would be like now without having experienced both of those, kinda funny.

My gaming tastes were limited to constant Mario 64 120 star runs and Lego Star Wars games until I had access to the internet.

Edit: Oh I also had Kingdom Hearts 2 that **** was the best when you're 10.
