So does anyone know all of the top 8 texas players who qualified? I'm guessing Sethlon/Lunchables/Oracle/Luck/Strong Bad but other than them, I'm not sure.
It's been posted quite a few times, but here's the list:
Lunchables
Sethlon
Gnosis
Strong Bad
Luck
Dyl
Hamyojo
JZ

Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona were qualified for it, but AZ just didn't participate at all and no one other than Axe came anyway.

We're all praising Ripple when he clutches it out, meanwhile DrinkingFood destroyed Wesballz and we barely mentioned it lol

I'm sure we'll have plenty of opportunity to lose our minds over DF tomorrow though :p
I liked it at least ;_;

There's something extra hype about completely knocking the person out of the tournament, though.

Edit: Especially when it comes down to last game, last stock, 200% and 120%, last game of the night, maximum tension.

Thanks Strong Bad. Curious that Oracle did not enter but was totally at the event. Must of been running it. Oh well, always DF for Rob. I never heard of Dyl or JZ. I have not Seen Gnosis play either so this will be exciting.

JZ is an Oklahoma Ivysaur player. Dyl is also from Oklahoma I think but I don't know who he plays.

I made a Chrome Extension to change Moon to Project M on Twitch. The webstore requires a $5 fee through Google Wallet and I don't have a credit card, just a PayPal, so you'll have to install it manually

Edit: Now on the web store

Firefox version available now

@ CORY CORY So what should my initial action be within the Ganon boards since apparently posting a video-embedded salutations thread was met with repulsion? I recall several Dorf enthusiasts ready to help me learn how to "punch things til they stop moving".
ummm... for the video posting, try to keep it in the general video thread. it reduces clutter, basically. if you really want feedback specifically, you can tag me in posts that you make with the videos and i'll try to get around to critiquing at least one of them (if it's a big vid dump) at some point in the week.

otherwise, are you having issues with terminology or anything else in particular? i can try to help clarify what is what, acronym-wise, especially if there are certain things that catch you offguard. i'll try to remember to specifically spell out the terms, then put the acronym into apostrophes or something for a while, so you can get used to the jargon.

Because ****'s far yo

@Coastward and @Relax Alax are just off in Toronto and I haven't even played them lol
no johns, man. just 25 hours? takes about that long to travel from one end of texas to the other /kappa

just go through chicago, pick up @MerzA , then we can get all our college station dorfs to come up to dfw and just have a gigantic ganon only tourney or something stupid crazy like that.

I'll be really honest, I just asked the AZ TO group if they knew about getting in on this and they didn't lol. I know I asked them about getting in on the southwest circuits before, but iirc it was when we were really busy with negotiations with MVG and stuff and it got pushed to the side

I'll make sure we reach out for the next circuit, because everyone so far has responded that they think its a good idea that we should have jumped on

Can someone give me a quick rundown of the day 1 upsets and good sets ?
I had to go to sleep after IPK lost to a Texan Mario, so I pretty much only know about that (and abour Ripple beating Westballz thanks to Reddit)

I think the one you're missing is Dizzy beating PinkFresh

I wasn't personally surprised by that outcome, though. Me and Jolteon have been sleeper picking Dizzy for a while now.

Yeah

Socal talked a lot of ****, but then underperformed in pools (Almost all of them made it out, with a few good notable upsets too, but generally they didn't take everything free), got upset rounds 1/2 (read pooped on by more regional players, like DF and DMG)and half of them ran into other socal and knocked themselves out. That kinda happens when you're almost half the bracket though
socalll.JPG

Hero Of Time is a Florida (I think) netplay warrior that beat Gahtzu, Jason Waterfalls (Socal ZSS) and Pink Fresh to qualify top 16 in winners side

Dizzy put in a lot of work, beat YaDoR, Aero (Socal players) and Pink fresh to make top 16

PMS has like, 5 people in top 16? god tier

this is why I just listen to donuts lol

uhh if you want more things in line with dilla I'm probably not your best help but
entroducing by dj shadow is a very good album
also the avalanches are good and kinda similar

I need to trawl through my last.fm and figure out what music I've even been listening to recently
dilla and nujabes are great when they're at their best, but they're both so hit-or-miss imo, dilla more so

I don't know if I'll ever get over the giant **** he took when he produced Tribe's BRL. Admittedly it probably wasn't entirely his fault that album sucked, but got damn it still disappoints to this day.
Donuts and DJ Shadow's Entroducing... are both good, after listening to them quite a few times now. I didn't know of any the backstory with Dilla being ill and this being his last album he produced while alive ( http://hiphopspeakeasy.com/2013/02/the-best-of-j-dilla-breaking-down-his-albums-1-by-1/ ). Still need to listen to the Avalanches but I can tell I like them (just the Since I Left You album is what I should listen to?)

Got any more?

Entroducing... is such a cool album just for the fact that literally every element in every song (aside from a background vocal or two) was a sample from DJ Shadow's collection of vinyls he got from rummaging through racks at a local store, like even the kick and snare of a song would be sampled from two separate tracks, and all he used to make it was a sampler, a turntable, and a tape recorder.

It's sad that the qualifiers for a national/regional event like this were only located in the southwest when the TO's knew full well people were gonna come from several other areas. I don't think all of these 8 players would've made it into a final bracket if they had to go through the open bracket (Same for Melee and PM). Doesn't seem like a good way to do things because it becomes totally biased. I realize it's a circuit final event, but there should have been qualifiers located outside of the southwest when the TO's knew full well that FL, Socal, MDVA, and NJ/NY were coming. Unless I'm blatantly missing a qualifier of course?

I'd of liked to see all of these players get through the first round of pools next time instead of needing to win only two matches minimum to get top 8 (Win 1 round of winners and 1 of losers or 2 rounds of winners).

Sounds like some crazy stuff happened at Aftershock.

Also just got back from my states regional of Roll Tier which M2K was at and did pretty decently and got top 32 in smash 4 and PM and was thrown in M2K 's pool and lost to him in bracket and some Lucario player twice from Colorado named Sunnysunny which is salt inducing as Falco and Robin and was one place away from making top 8 :(.

And in PM i lose to R frizz (Fox and Diddy) and some Colorado Bowser player who was pooping on nerds.

Also met Lain and Lordy from Michigan if any of you old brawl heads know whi either of them are.

Sosa and Stauffy kinda got screwed too, both of them regularly compete evenly with IPK. Don't forget that EclipseKirby had a nailbiting set with Axe and took him to last game, last stock, high percent. Sucks that EclipseKirby got ****ed up by a crazy pool (Pink Fresh, Axe, Captain Birdman, Hero of Time)

Anyway, here are all the upsets imo:
DMG > Aero
Hero of Time > Gahtzu
Pink Fresh > Sosa
Albert > Stauffy
DrinkingFood > Westballz
DMG > Milkman
Hero of Time > Jason Waterfalls
Pink Fresh > Albert
Azer > YadoR
Machiavelli > Gahtzu
Albert > Jason Waterfalls
DMG > Sosa
Ripple > Westballz
Artimus > Dad
Hero of Time > EclipseKirby
Youngblood > Irish
Red Ranger > Dong
Erasmorpheus > IPK (x2)
Dakpo > Stauffy
Stoks > SparkingZero
Zeej > Mr. Brandandorf
DMG > Mr. Brandandorf
Mac > Shokio

Those are all the ones I can think of.

JZ is an Oklahoma Ivysaur player. Dyl is also from Oklahoma I think but I don't know who he plays.
Dyl is a Luigi player from Oklahoma.

The TOs did not know that people from OoS would come. The qualifier system was in place long before any OoS interest was expressed; Aftershock was intended as a super regional for Southwest and nothing more. It really isn't the TO's fault that like 40 OoSers came KNOWING the aftershock qualifier system was in place, it wasn't something where we went "Oh ****, OoSers! We better make sure our dudes get into the top 16 bracket!"

That said, Low Tier City 3 will have no such qualifier system, it'll be a traditional tournament like last year.

Still, if they knew that many OoSers were coming after the qualifier system was in place then they could've had a qualifier event outside of the southwest. Food for thought.
