I guess it depends on how this will work in terms of upscaling, but I really feel like melee's future is on good comps in dolphin. It's really easy to hacks when you can just modify the iso without having to repeatedly burn it, and you run it in 1080p without problems with a good enough computer (and in 5 years computers that can do that will be cheaper). The only problem is recording. You need a REALLY good comp to run it in 1080p with lots of AA so it looks good and still run screen capture software.
You could probably eventually do input recordings and then just screen cap later rather than in-game. Melee has a ****-ton of variables, RA/LA-Floats and bits that would have to be kept track of though :/
Though I wouldn't be surprised if there was eventually a way to patch files via SD Card like there is in Brawl. Magus might could be able to do it...

also I can probably buy 6 gamecubes + melee for the price of one of whatever Nintendo's cooking up so nah dawg.

I'll personally wait this out and see if it ends up being good.

Hell, only reason I got the Wii was because of NSMBWii, and a couple of other games. I'm not too disappoint with NSMB, some levels remind me of Yoshi's Island and that's well worth it.

Hopefully there are 3+ good games for the new system.

we have gamecubes.

that is all.

do you realize how cheap GC's are now? by the time cafe or whatever comes out, you'd be able to buy a full setup for like a nickel. it'll be amazing. and CRTV's in 5 years? large tournaments better have massive amounts of setups.

but, if this thing will be able to put melee in HD with no lag, then we really will have quite a story.

I smell HD Melee!

Pretty keen. But I wonder how much the console is gonna cost because the Wii was significantly more expensive than the Gamecube (in my area anyway).

I'm curious as to what kind of online features will come with this new system. If nintendo wants to compete with microsoft and sony, i feel like they would add some type of feature that allows for DLC on a lot of their games which could be very interesting in perhaps a future smash game for adding new characters and balancing post release, but that is another story. As far as melee goes, i'm sure it will work just fine and as someone said before, it would be awesome if you could have it right on the system in order to remove some of the hassle with tournament setups and things of that nature.

Lastly, i'm curious as to what version of melee it would be if you could have the game directly on the console. I'm assuming it would be 1.2, but who knows?

Noooo DLC has ruined modern gaming

at least it's one of the things that's ruining modern gaming

seriously, fnck DLC

It's just an excuse to release a half game and have consumers pay for the rest of it later. Ban DLC plz

Yeah I don't like DLC. I like lots of unlockables.

But I don't think there will be. Nintendo is against it.

I've heard it may cost between $350 and $400, but the release (confirmed by nintendo) is about a year away so that could change easily. And just about everything is pointing towards nintendo's next console being "Modernized" with features like GOOD online and dlc.
