Since there's so many great players in the east you guys should try to expand the lists to 15 people, and then maybe 20 eventually.

A power ranking list for NY state was discussed in another thread, but I don't think it's actually going anywhere.

Has anyone else seen the vids of Mew2King beating up on Ken in 2/4 (I heard M2K wins the set) matches on Youtube yet (they were posted a week ago and they're from OC2 it says)? If this was fairly recent it looks like M2K proved that he did deserve a better spot on the power rankings then what he got. If it wasn't that recent then he still deserves a better spot.

M2K FTW

Ken's been beaten before. He's not undefeated - plenty of people have been able to knock off a set from him. Azen, PC, KoreanDJ, and yes M2K. It doesn't mean anything too much unless it's consistent because all of these players are more or less at the same calibur.

Ken is the best because he consistently places high and wins tournaments. M2K, however, usually doesn't get far past 5th because players like Chu beat him.

M2K loses to 3.5 people in the WORLD.

PC, Chu, Ken, and DJ half the time.

'nuff said.
first off not in the world. i would put money on bombsoldier beating m2k.

now we showed you how every one else does. who are you saying he should be over? azen? chu? kdj? all 3 of them? no way. maybe kdj since he loses to 3.5 people as well in the u.s.a. azen loses to like 2.5 people. chu loses to 3 people.

so who are you saying he should be above?

Lol another Falco vs M2K. Maybe, but I think Jason would win.

Mew2King should be above everyone but PC Chris.

Watch and see. You'll put him there soon enough. :p

So you're going to overlook M2K placing an average of 5th the majority of the year and looking at two or three events where he placed higher?

The truth is, M2K is probably better than the other four. But tournament results need to reflect that. He shouldn't complain if all he can manage is 5th or so most of the time when he could be doing even better.

ok lets take ken out of this cause kens only true part in this is who out of the top 5 can beat him consistantly which there is only one and that is kdj.. so lets just remove him.

inui. like i said in my first post. i have no problem with putting m2k at 2nd if he can place there the majority of the time. though he is consistant he doesnt place consistantly high enough against the great people. yes placing 5th overall at mlgs is better then basically any of the panalist could ever or will every do. however placing at an average of 5th (in the last 3mlgs cause they are the ones that were most recent which this list is suppose to be recent placings) i worse then the others above him. even ken recently would not be #1 on this list. and to me he wouldnt be #2 either. yes i know that is a bold statement for me to make cause of his success but to me this is all about how people have done recently. ken to me has not played as well as he has before or he has but everyone has finally caught up to him and he has to try and want to get better. to me m2k has the potentail to be 1st on this list just like the other 4 but i think m2k and kdj are the most driven to be first and prove themselves better then the 3 ahead of them. right now if i am a panalist again i will say i will be looking at the most recent placings and taking into account who people faced and yes the weight of a tournament. placing 1st at a guantlet should way more then placing 1st at one of chus bi weeklies. who you fae will be taken into account but a fest is a fest. people can go and drink and do whatever they want at a fest. they could try out new things and new charas and new combos where going to a tournament you know you have to step your game up.

so the basics is the list that is up there to me will be changing cause of peoples recent preformances. i really dont care about what people have done in the past. the power ratings is about recent preformance. so like i said m2k on that list deserved where he got. no more no less. the next one should be the exact same way.

New smash talent will take over. O_o

Watch yourselves.

List is pretty accurate so far, imo anyway. The list will and can always fluctuate, between those mentioned and those coming up on the lists. Nothing to complain about atm, if you wanna be placed higher or just onthe list period just step up and prove your valor or worth.

This isn't that big of a deal, anyone on that list can loose, it's been proven.

Good job, panelists. My first of two comments is that now you guys know the work it takes to make (and defend) one of these lists. If this much discussion is being had over a region...imagine trying to do it for a nation.

That's why we stopped.

My second, and final, comment is that I agree with Wife in that Neo (regardless of how much I like him personally) really shouldn't be considered for the list. But, it's your list, and your rules. You had to ground somewhere.

On another note, I've been working diligently to be taken OFF power rankings ever since I crept onto the frickin national one. Wanna do me a favor and just slide me off of the NE one too? Thanks...

See, this is why Marcus is so cool. He pre-emptively stole my "asking to be off the list" manuever, used it on the national power ranking list, and then RE-USED the technique on the VERY LIST I USED IT ON. THOSE ARE MINDGAMES.

He still needs to learn my "c-stick" manuever as well as my "quotation marks" manuever though >_>

It's not really anyone's choice to be on or off the list. Marcus, the only real way you could be removed is by retiring smash alltogether. Otherwise, your will to participate in tournaments is enough to be considered for a ranking type list.

It would just be completely innacurate and not worth putting effort into making if people could choose to be on or off it.

Also NEO should be off the next list if he doesn't appear at any kind of event.

I know, Cort. We didn't let anyone off the hook either :)

And "Dazwa"...here I thought I was "cool" because of "my" penguin avatar, and you come and tell me I've got even MORE "reasons" why I'm "cool". "Sweet"!

BTW - The "baby" in your sig gave me "nightmares".

Edit: Quotation ownage

We thought we would include him for the first list, see people reactions, and if he remained inactive by the next posting, he would be removed. I think most people can say this way works out most fair/best.

If people don't want to be on the power rankings all they have to do is place poorly in tournaments and lose to bad players consistently. It's not as hard as you think.

i really dont see a problem with doing a national ranking system. the problem is people keep looking to what others did in the past and they get put onto that list caused of what thy have done or are capable of doing. if you were to do a national list when we did this list the top 5 from ours is in the top 6 with the exception of ken being placed 3rd on the list. yes another bold statement but look at the results it proves me right. maybe he is even lower then that. doing a national one is no different then doing this list. discussion must come backed up by facts of what they have done since the last list. i would be all for a national list but that is just me.

also i am sure that you cant exempt yourself from the list cause you dont want to be on it. zang didnt want to be on this list nor did wes. but they have to be for accuracy. like phish it said. you want off place badly like isia does at every tourny that isnt really major.

also as of right now neo, for me, is off the next list due to inactivity.

Just to clear things up, my requesting to be off the list was a joke. A bad one. As a former national panelist myself, I know what it takes to be put on the list as well as what it takes to be taken off...and a request isn't an option. Thanks for the responses, though. If I was serious, I'd be disappointed...but appreciative nonetheless.

this thread makes me happy.
ec is all peaceful and **** (for the most part) :]

good job with the power rankings. it'd suck to be one of the panelists. i like how woz backed up why m2k's #5 with that huge *** post.it's gotta be difficult/pretty impossible to create 110% accurate rankings because there are so many gray areas--especially when it's extra sensitive regarding top players. kupo!

and i agree--doll is pretty underrated but he'll make his way to proving himself sooner or later =)
