So I'm planning on recording the livestream from Pound V so I can watch it later.

So two things:

1) does anyone know what times various things are going to / project to happen?

2) is anyone interested in getting a copy? if so i'll make a torrent

Isn't only Brawl going to be livestreamed?

I'm youtube recording the stream setup for Brawl. Everything's going to be in good quality. But I'd like to have an emergency back up guy. Like if I somehow don't record important games like semi finals and finals, that'd be bad. My Hauppauge HD PVR seems to have a tendency to show capture failed messages like almost 1% of the time I record stuff. It's very rare, but it has happened a few times before

Also, the schedule is on the Pound 5 thread

Pools sets and side events will be on my channel, crew battles and brackets will be on VideoGameBootCamp's

dont think either game will be streamed.

So with the internet not being a viable option, I've come up with a solution for a livestream!

I will be running a livestream for brawl via my 3G phone as a tether. I can get about 0.45MB upload speed which is enough to get a fluent stream running. I've tested it today with multiple people and everyone has told me things look good. The quality won't be the sharpest, but hey, it's better than nothing. The sound will also work at full quality as well, so we will still be able to have people commentate. We won't be able to see the chat though, due to the bandwidth limits. If anyone has a 4G EVO phone that they'd be willing to let me borrow for the weekend, I can install an app on your phone that will work with my computer to tether and stream it online, which will allow us to see the chat and raise the quality. Otherwise, I'll just work with my phone.

Please do not call me during the stream! It will knock the stream out.

Regarding Pools

With at the door registration an option, we will be using a smaller format. Currently, we have 140ish entrants in the bracket. We are going to use the same pool format we used last year, which is based off 192 entrants, which is 2 rounds of top 3 advancing. The first round at this point may have some pools with as few as 4 people, meaning 75% could advance. With at the door registration, though, I don't see this happening very much. I will have all the singles pools done and posted on Tuesday. They will be uploaded via AiB.

HIGH SEEDS REGISTERING AT THE DOOR- if you think you'll be a higher seed and you're planning on registering at the door, please PM me in advance so I don't seed you as a random. Thanks much

I can't wait to see you all there. We'll be running a tight ship, so please don't be late as always and most of all, have fun~!

Edit: Melee folks- if you'd like some help putting a stream together, just PM me. I can't use my equipment, but I can tell you what you'll need and how to set it up. If there is a will there is a way!
doesnt matter, it probably wont happen. vgbootcamp has first rights over stream, if they dont want to do it it is up to them what they want to do. they probably just want to record vids. but we shall see
I think VideoGameBootCamp loves livestreaming as much as I love youtube

Eh. Regardless we need to be thankful that we have people kind enough to upload hundreds of videos for the community. If there's no stream, I definitely have no right to complain. I'm just some lazy kid on my computer.

That's irrelevant. We streamed and recorded HQ copies for YouTube at the same time at Pound 4. What's the issue this time?

Why the **** isn't melee being streamed, what is this bull****?
Itt's not like Plank planned for this to happen...not enough people registered to enter melee/brawl cumulatively. This is the end result. No amount of planning could compensate for the lack of entrants. I'm pretty sure vids will be uploaded in a matter of days.

On a serious note it really does suck that there won't be a livestream...oh well such is life.

That's what you get for not going, actually kind of glad there isn't a stream, now I'll be REALLY excited for the results since I won't get them instantly.

Plus the thread will be spammed with talk anyway, it'll be fun in it's own way.

Prog typing everything for RoM3 was crazy and people were sooo hype.

I think Twitter updates would be alright though. I STILLLLL BELIEVE THAT IF EVERYONE AT THE VENUE DONATED A DOLLAR OR TWO THERE COULD BE A STREAM!

Ahw hell no. I invited some ppl over for smash and watch pound, now I see theres not gonna be a livestream. Still fun will be had, but its just not the same without the hype and cheering.

Can you at least tell me where to find the live updates/chat?
Livechat with everyone talking in chaos > Twitter

God damn I hate twitter.

Just curious.... what would I need required to get a livestream... now.. I don't have cables or anything... but i've got a pretty good laptop.. that i'd be willing to donate.. to do the livestream matches.... I have current combo video projects on it.. so of course as long as noone obviously erases all my files or something we can be str8....

If there is anything else in general required... i wouldn't mind donating my laptop for livestream.... it'd be nice to stay near the laptop.. of course to make sure all is well... but for the most part.. I trust the melee community.. and I know you guys won't let me down.. ^^

Just tell me what I need... and I'll do what I can to make everyone happy ^^ unless noone wants it.. >>

Lol. A livestream would've been nice, but what's up with all the raging? You'll get to see all the matches anyway, just not the moment the are played.

For those who don't realize it, the issue with live streaming isn't because Plank is too lazy to hook up a laptop. The issue is that the hotel would charge out the *** for the internet.

Anyway, Epsilon uploads so fast it is practically a live stream anyway. XD

hes only recoding brawl. so itss kinda not helpful.
Wenz! You fool! The Great Epsilon is no mere mortal! He records with 11 setups at once, and has even been known to upload matches before they have finished. Surely you cannot believe he will be limited to a single game! THIS IS MADNESS!!!

yes, have a live stream hat people can drop dollars into
Plank said somewhere burried deep deep inside the hype of the Pound 5 thread that the cost of 1 internet connection costs $399.99 and for 2 connections it costs $699.99. We're going to need everyone to put a little bit more than a few dollars in a hat

You can if you want, but imo, DON'T DO IT FOR BRAWL, VIDEOGAMEBOOTCAMP! DON'T DO IT!

youtube > livestreams

If you live stream, I don't think I can dual record at Pound 5, which means out of the 2 of us, the total number of videos would cut down to about 1/3

Why are people taking for granted what they have? What about 3-4 years ago? Was there a stream for large tournaments? Nope, so calm down.
