Ok neous :D

I like the colors in the wip, Zio. Is it an arm?

And Odin, CS2/3 is still pretty recent, I've seen lots of people use PS 7 on deviantart and make beautiful things. You probably won't be using the super advanced stuff for painting too much anyway (I assume that's what you want a tablet for...? :o)

PS7 is beast and I think the only real reason to have the newer ones is to do things like 3D modeling, and the ability to edit all variations of the .RAW file format AND aesthetics.

Word? They didn't have clipping masks?

I didn't even notice.

Now that would be a problem to me.

It didn't help your post was on the last page (I don't tend to go back and read the last few posts of an old page, if a new one is up).

Also - Not sure what you want to be said. It looks good. But I am no expert on the subject (I've never done 3D modeling, nor any of that texture and lighting work). So i couldn't help with suggestions.

:I

I do wish i could do something like that, though.

I finished one of my 3d finals and it turned out pretty nice :D
Also Ally cat bugged me to post these. Ha. Ha ha.

Cool stuff neous :b

That's pretty cool. How long did it take to make that? I can't really guess cause the, most likely incorrect, way I imagine making 3D models is virtually stacking bricks on each other >.> I know it's harder but conceptually, I don't even have a clue.

WIP

Needs work, but I'm just practicing digital painting
Mmmm nice. Reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus :D

Nice Akuma vs CF gif. It makes me wonder what game you like more haha. Akuma is bad*** and CF is pretty manly.

Nah Alleycat's just being a bug because she was pestering me to post my project.
I wasn't looking for feedback specifically, I did it so she'd be quiet.

Also whatever happened to that akuma painting you were working on?

I guess close to 30 hours to model and 30 hours to texture and light stuff. I actually hand painted a lot of the textures to get more of a stylized feel, but I was a bit pressed for time so I couldn't emphasize it too well.

Making stuff in 3d differs from the program, but it's always broken into small 2-d polygon planes (generally 4 sided faces, sometimes 3 sided). There's a million techniques to build stuff. You can literally build polygon by polygon, or you can start off with a cube and cut into it to create faces, move verticies, add edges, etc.
In some programs like Zbrush you can take a model and extrude and move it as if it was made of endlessly stretchy clay. It's pretty awesome, but it's really time intensive.

As with most things, I fell off in keeping up doing it. It's still a WIP and I work on it from time to time, but being a perfectionist and my being unable to digitally paint puts a strain on me. I get angry, annoyed, and I've spent ALOT of time on that picture.

Although, I might just return to it, now that you've mentioned it and have reminded me of it.

We resume in another 2 weeks. I'm going to use these two weeks as well as humanly possible.

yeah. i made all that stuff today, geist.

the difference is in quality.

sure i have alot of stuff, but theyre quite ez to make.

just about everyone else here has a higher level of work put into their posted stuffs, and it shows i think in a hypothetical side by side comparison.

*also it helps that i played starcraft, i have the apms.

[remembered what i wanted to say: skill wise, you especially, are much more technical. i mean, omlp [legendary pokemon], your photorealistic paintings. im not as technical, so i have to employ different strats in my arting. and as result, i have alot of "stuff"]

I should be doing a lot of art stuff over break
Expect to see me finish a lot of the loose, halfway finished projects I have floating around, and maybe a few 3d stuff.

You seem to recycle alot of material, Neo.

Just an observation.

But I like the premise. I'd just like to see more of it.

Hi people. So today out of nowhere I decided to improve my pen tool skills since I suck, so I opened up Illustrator and started doing this.

long hair (sucks and I got lazy with the hair lol)
no hair

I have little to no experience so that's why I'm trying to get used to this tool of hell. I hate it but I have to love it.

I know it's just a simple drawing but it's my first. ;_; Any recommendations?

that is an extremely valid assessment. though i dont know what you mean by "I'd just like to see more of it"
yes. i have "image maps". with these maps i can trace every drawing back to a single source. a cat. [half joking]

that and, im always recycling/reworking/fixing stuff, sometimes one thing makes me think of another, so i draw that from it. its like... look at the clouds, and one moment a cloud looks like godzilla, then let the clouds drift a bit, and now it looks like a tugboat. or, squint your eyes, or look at the thumbnail, and ur inspired to do something else. and then you're left with a bunch of similar images, so why not make a gif, or a scene.

...

daaaw loki :3

...

morrigan, i think youre the first person in a while to post vectors. not sure if anyone round these parts can give you tips. i know i cant. but from what i can see, its looking pretty clean. its funny that you post morrigan, because im working on my self portrait doing a morrigan pose.

Well the way you've done it in those pieces definitely fit the style of it, so I think it worked out rather well.
But since you're planning on getting much better, I recommend making drawings with pencil, scanning it in, and attempting to trace your drawing as best as possible. Or just dl pics from the internet and trace over those if you want.
After a while the pen tool starts to feel like a puzzle game, where you're trying to make an object or a drawing using as little points as possible. If you use too many it gets all bumpy and ugly, and it just takes way much longer than it should to fiddle around with the stupid points.

Thanks! Yeah I'll eventually start scanning/tracing some parts. It's funny 'cause at first for example I didn't know how to do the eye and I had to draw it on paper to visualize it lol. It definitely helps.
