I like the color choice in your paintings! The white whale looks kinda familiar. did you post a wip in here some time ago or am I just imagining it?

I haven't drawn at all in the past few days... I have so much more homework this year asdf

I have posted it somehwere in the past, not sure if here, actually. Both finished and WIP.
I really don't know what kind of colour choices you mean, I just choose my colours in a whim, and two of my paintings are stolen from real life or other drawn pictures, except I just drew over them lineless and with fluid colours.
Can you give examples, I'd love to know what I'm doing right :o!

I just think your colors go well together, like in that last split painting the green turns into pink very nicely. Or in the whale picture, the clouds aren't shaped too much like real clouds but the sky color and the way you blended the cloud's edges make it look like a sky.

Digital color picking is something I'm not very good at so I love it when people pick nice colors. :D

Hi Alley Cat, you probably haven't seen me because I have only been unbanned a few weeks ago.
I remember you. I applaud your glorious return sir.

the whale was flying happily, i figured anything goes. and i draw lasers alot anyway so why not.

something less extreme:

Pretty well done, I can't say I've seen you draw faces before in a relatively realistic style.
but
Cheek bone definition not needed.

PLS REMOVE IT!!!!

y u no like cheek bones

* faces are tough n for teh pros, so i usually dont draw them. the one in red, is of a classmate, but it doesnt look much like her [shes not white]. the cheekboney one i drew without reference, and looks almost exactly like her save for a few asymmetric-icities [zat a word?]. the purple one is how i usually draw faces, just simple shapes.

it was a quick thing i did after the whale, so ill fix it up later.
i guess i should remove the cheekbone accentuation and i guess ill stop drawing cheekbones?
why is it frowned upon anyway
does it go against the secret pro artist consortium of "ideal feminine visual [re]presentations"?

* oh yeah, and no johns

I could go on a big semantic spiel/rant
but
let's just say art is preliminarily for a target audience, and the perceptions of those people are more important than what you want to see, regardless of whether or not it's faithful to real life.
You may be saying now 'omgz but art is about expression geist! how can it be about the audience?'
Well if something looks out of place, the idea you're trying to express is taken away from. It's the efficiency of this expression that counts.

Also with the more or less minimalistic approach you took with the faces, large cheek bones seem much more expressive than they should. It's not that they need to disappear per sey, but they need to be changed somehow. Maybe smaller lines, I dunno.

And no this was not the aforementioned rant
Ask Aly about my rants.

im sneaky with the edits. i edit posts i made 6 months ago.

i understand. apparently the aggregate is against prominent cheekbones.

my first reaction: f*ck the audience.
and, even though im ok with contradicting myself, i realize there is a disconnect in saying "f*ck the audience" along with my sharing of stuff with an audience, and the audience in this case is my fellow smashboarders, who are actually quite important, to me at least.

id ask aly about more higher level philosphies concerning art, but no amount of pats on the head will keep the associated negative feelings...
that come from art elite-ness elude-ing me
...from coming. * in other words, it will just make me salty like a little kid
i told myself a while ago id just make things i thought were cool, and not get too wrapped up in trying to cater to an audience if i really wasnt into the content,
but uh, im working on picking up your pro tips.

yeahh
I kind of emphasized the 'for the audience' (on purpose), obviously what you want to see will obviously be a priority, but I can't really explain what I'm trying to say without going really in depth.
Regardless, you should pretend you do have an audience you have to satisfy, even if you don't. Because efficient communication helps improve your drawings and will help you draw what YOU want to see much better.
That's more what I wanted to communicate, or at least it's more relevant to people who art casually.

and to clarify, the aggregate wasn't against prominent cheekbones themselves, but the fact that stylistically, they didn't quite fit the general consistent aesthetic of the piece, therefore they stood out much more than they should have.
etc

I draw dark and depressing stuff when I am in a good mood.
...it's creepy in a fun way.

Partially inspired by Neous's epic MSPaint drawings of awesome
coolio :p
I looooove love love drawing morbid stuff. When all the other girls were drawing princesses and flowers and puppies, I was drawing monsters rendering the spines from their helpless, screaming victims. So high five thar girlfrand

When all the boys in class were drawing monsters and ghouls and gore I was in the back of class enjoying my daily routine of Princesses, fairy magik, and RAINBOUGHS!!!

:happysheep:

But for reals - I never had a knack for drawing anything devilish looking. Every time I tried, it never looked demonic enough. I blame up christian upbringing.

No, I don't have a clue. I have an idea, since you briefly mentioned it, but no details to the actual thing was revealed.

I'm sure something like that is not meant to be told anyway. So I will just assssuuuuummmmmee.

No, it's just me getting ONE infraction, and I'd be permabanned again! I'm fairly sure I can share that, so I have to be somewhat nicer these days. I'm pretty sure I'd already have gotten an infraction, but I have feeling some mods are being a bit lenient towards me which I love everyone for a lot!

1 infraction permaban? Well, seems a bit extreme, but I haven't gotten an infraction in over a year, so you could do it.

But also, lucky you for the love. :D
