quadruped - noun
1. An animal, especially a mammal, having four limbs specialized for walking.

biped - noun
1. An animal with two feet.

Using these definitions, yes...Pikachu COULD technically be considered a quadruped.

However, unlike a true quadruped (Wolf Link, Venasaur, etc.), Pikachu can stand upright and use his "front feet" as hands. Therefore, Pikachu/Pichu can't be considered the first quadruped moveset. He's more of a quadruped in appearance only than anything else.

See? I'm not crazy. Ivysaur isn't quite as unique as people think.

Yeah, Pika runs on all 4s. . . but what everyone who sugguested a 4 legged character would know is that Pika "does really count".

Pika can run on all 4s but also stands on 2 legs. He isn't "fully" 4 legged and for a long time people have been saying that a fully 4 legger "just can't work".

I beg to differ. Why doesn't anyone consider Pikachu a quadruped? It runs on all four legs, it just stands on two when it's stationery.

Ivysaur can stand on two legs, though. He doesn't seem to in Brawl, based on the screens that have been shown; I'm just saying that a 4-legged character isn't that big a deal. I doubt Ivysaur will play too much differently just because he always seems to be on all fours.

I keep telling people that Mewtwo won't be cut, but no one ever listens. I can't see Mewtwo being a final smash either...maybe Mew, but I'm sure someone's suggested that already.

Ya see, thats one reason why I love this update. ALL this time people have been bashing character ideas for smash based on their assumptions which they called "rules". With this update he smashed the fan made rules like. . .

"No, w/e can't be in because it's not humonoid. Fully 4 legged characters can't work in this game."

With this turn in events I hope to see the masses stop their downing of ideas and assuming their are rules towhich Sakurai upholds.

He does w/e the hell he wants. . . and right now we are seeing the fruits of his (and his team's) creativity by having these 3 golden examples of him not giving a crap about fan rules.

I think Pokemon Trainer is the most awesome update so far. From a game design point of view, he seems like a very interesting character, and I am eager to see how the Pokemon switching mechanic will work. And secondly, because he puts all those fanboys (especially the haters and the self-proclaimed "experts" or "insiders") to shame, showing that their "rules" and supposedly super-accurate predictions are a completely worthless load of crap.

This is Sakurai saying "I'm the game designer here, not you." That's the way it should be and I hope he does more of these completely shocking updates

That's your fault. Nobody forced you to make those stupid movesets. It's not like making movesets accomplish anything. You think Sakurai is going to come here and say "Oh crap! That's a much better moveset. I'd better go redo their moves!"

Actually, you've counterspoken yourself- if his pokemon are bad-AXE (as my friend likes to say) then he can command them, thus defending himself rather well.

There's nothing wrong with coming up with a moveset and asking for discussions. We know that Red's Pokemon are playable, so we may as well talk about what they'll play like. There's no harm in that, is there? The game comes out November 22nd in Japan, so until then we should be free to talk about theories and such. It can be pretty interesting to see how close his moveset could be to the actual character.
