Pokemon Researcher Reformation and Discussion Thread

Alright. It is a well known fact that I am not well versed in Pokémon vernacular and statistics. I love the series, but for other reasons.

If we're going to keep the group, then I will post a poll regarding whether or not I should remain leader of the Pokemon Researcher User Group. I may not know much about the metagame, but I know the people here.

While just letting anyone in might be ridiculous, I don't see why the group has to serve some sort of epic purpose. We do not have to do away with the Pokemon Researcher User Group (though renaming it to Pokemon Professor would be loads of awesome), as we all in our own regards research the games for various studies. A lot of us like the competitive aspects, and those like myself enjoy the design concepts in the creatures, the world, the characters, and the overall blanket.

While I agree with Mewter's reasons for dismantling the group, there is one chief concern that begs for a second chance: identification. Advocates of the games like to be identified with a specified name color and title. While the cold coffee brown isn't the prettiest color in the world, it's what we have (I can fight for tomato if you'd like, which resembles Pokemon much more).

I'm not saying I want this to happen and it shouldn't happen but what if people vote you off of Researcher leadership?

Also, I like tomato over coffee brown.

Tomato looks like a nice color.
The Pokemon Researcher group was built for competitive play and the Strategy Dex which didn't work out.

If we're going to keep the group and change the title, we're going to need to think of a better reason for the group to stay around.

Edit: Amen to what Roacherman said, not that I think Spire should be voted off.

If they vote Spire off, wouldn't the whole group come down with it if people also vote for the group to die?

Anyways if they do take off Spire, I believe Tery would be best fit for the Poke Researcher leadership

I agree with enough of Spire's post to basically not include the rest of this; bar the voting for whether or not he should stay the lead of it. I think that Spire holds the best mind of us to decide who should and should not get the title.

I prefer the brown, but the tomato could probably grow on me if the change in color did happen.

Agreed. Ultimately it is his decision should he get voted off as to who should become the head of the Researchers.

I think Spire should stay the leader of the group. It makes sense for the mod of the PC to be the leader. (Although Tery is quite qualified himself.)

Besides, I really don't think it needs to solely focus on the competitive aspect. We've undertaken many projects in the PC that could fall into a room like this; creating our own fifth gen, SmashCAP, variations on a Pokémon family tree, etc. These could fall under "Researcher" ("Pokémon Professor" would be an awesome title too, though) too.

I'd say that keeping the group idea is fine if not redirecting it a bit. We are all here because we enjoy the series for various reason and, much like the SmashBR the color is a sign of identification with this crowd. Besides, the only reason the title was created in the first place was for the SWF stratagy dex (which, may I remind you, is dead). I wouldn't mind re-directing the title to what firus/Spire have been talking about (then again, this may be my "Please don't rant, Firus" sense on edge. Na...).

Also, I approve of the tomato motion.

I actually just remembered that I can have a co-leader, so it doesn't look like I'll be leaving. Umbreon and Jesiah-TEG were in charge for the longest time.
