Problem with that game is...you don't expect RPGs, let alone an FF game to be linear, which it is. Also, in my opinion, the romance isn't as good as it is in other FF games. Gameplay wise, I think most people like. Story? I'm not so sure about.

So I'm thinking of purchasing Final Fantasy XIII before Tales of Graces ƒ is released...does the game deserve all of the negativity and animosity it's spawned? Or is worth buying (I'd be buying it new seeing as I'm OCD and schtuffs)? I've never played a Final Fantasy game.
I think the game is actually pretty decent. Linearity and the way it presents its story is the weakest aspects of XIII. The game gives you no freedom until the second half of the game, and to understand the story would mean reading some stuff in the menu instead of being all presented in the cutscenes.

I don't think it's a bad game by itself, it just lacks certain elements that other FFs or RPGs have.
The game is cheap now so I'd say get it. It's one of my least favorite FFs but I did have fun with it.

I guess I'll give it a go. But I've decided to wait until after Graces ƒ- that game has priority over everything (even Sarah, 'cause I know Matt07 is gonna read this/stalker).

To be fair though Minato, Suikoden V had like a 6+ hour intro (if you were fast) where you couldn't really do much and didn't even have your castle, and it's STILL an amazing game (not quite as good as Suikoden 2, but a close second).

Unfortunately, I never played any of the Suikoden games. I heard they were good though so I should definitely check them out.
TBH, I don't mind when games are linear at the start. That's how FFVII was.
XIII didn't have too many areas where I could just take a breather. It was dungeon after dungeon so I felt like I had to keep on going.

I just wish the game had more side quests than just defeating monsters. However, I loved exploring for hours in that game and just leveling up.

Yeah, true that FFVII and even FFVIII were a bit like that at first. And you should try to find the Suikoden games (even Tierkreis, lmao). The first one's really good, 2 is amazing to the point I spent seven YEARS between 2000 and 2007 tracking one down until I traded in like 7-8 games for it on GameTZ, and Suikoden V is really good too and has some new elements in it.

^ You're really suprised? XIII was meant to be in several chapters to begin with, until XIII took forever. I'm actually all for it, XIII has a very nice story imo. I hear XIII-2 isn't as good, but it leads into what could make XIII-3 awesome.

It'll be kind of funny if what was considered by many to be one of the worse Final Fantasies gets TWO direct sequel games while FFVI and that didn't get one. Actually...FFVII technically never got a sequel game, since they just got Crisis Core and Advent Children well, isn't a game.

What?! A possible throed sequel for XIII?? Gosh, I hope Square won't ruin it, I mean the linear aspect of it wasn't as good as say, X or any of the older FF's, but it was great, now I just got my hands on XIII-2, hoping it will be a little morr linear, or at least with some more exploring involving sidequests.

But yeah, Square should have already made a direct sequel to VII in the form of a video game, I know that Advent Children is good and all, but if lacking, hopefully, and maybe, just maybe a remake will be considered at the very least.

It surprises me that FF7 can't get a console prequel or sequel, yet games like X-2 and 13-2 and possibly 13-3 exist. I'll give X-2 some leeway, since it was the first PS2 FF, and imo a good one at that minus some infamous dialogue moments.

And while I haven't paid attention to the story in 13, didn't things seem resolved at the end of part 1? Don't tell me part 2 leaves a cliffhanger -_-

Yeah man, while X-2 wasn't really bad since X was rather liked and wasn't really looked down by critics, XIII however didn't sell or appeal like X had done before it, I honestly believe Square is either blind or just trying to avoid VII since either a prequel or direct sequel to it would surely attract the most attention than any of the more recent installments since X, hell; the remake would be a guaranteed hit, thereby potential big numbers for Square.

In other news, that GoW4 online thing is looking a little wack, I love the single player aspects of it, but with the possible online thing, I hope they won't focus or drive their attention towards this new addition go the line-up.

I've read before, though not sure where, that a lot of the FF7 team is gone. SE doesn't want to touch FF7 because it won't be the same, which.. I kinda respect them for that.

No, Part 1 resolved nothing:

Though the links between Fal'Cie and L'cie(sp) were resolved, the Cocoon still had many citizens on it who needed to be brought down to pulse, pulse needed to be civilizationized, and Fang/Vanille died to save the world.

The -whole- world of pulse is unexplored in XIII except for a few parts. It's a cool concept, considering there's probably evil there. Lets not forget the Cocoon government probably didn't just instantly disband after Orphan's death.

XIII2/3 sounds way better than X-2 lol.

On February 8, 2012, your “PlayStation®Network account” will be renamed a “Sony Entertainment Network account” or a “SEN account” in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation®3 system software and PlayStation®Vita system software updates. (Note, this change will not be applied to the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system at this time.)

For general purposes, this account change is a change in name only. Your username or password will not change, nor are we asking you to change them. In accordance with this transition, some necessary naming changes will be made to the TOS and Privacy Policy.

This transition is based on Sony’s goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering. As a series of these activities Sony started last September, PlayStation®Network will be aligned with “Sony Entertainment Network.” This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.

Thank you for your continued loyalty and support during this transition.
Fail, Sony.

I don't see why it's a fail.

They're following Google and creating one universal system, which is much better in my opinion.

Yeah, but if it gets hacked and everything gets lost, it's oh I don't know, the hackers faults, not Sony's, lol.

Though, asking someone "what's your SEN?" is like "what's your sin?" lol.

Maybe this is Sony's "Please God let this work" to keep Anon from hacking them again? Since the said they wouldn't hack to hurt the consumers again?

Because if everything wasn't grouped together they'd be so much harder to hack, right?
Well, if stuff was separated into 2 different networks, to get all the stuff you would need to hack into 2 different networks, which would take more work. So yeah, I would say it'd be harder to hack 2 networks than 1, then again I'm not great with computers so idk.

And yes Livewire, it would be the hacker's fault, but isn't it Sony's responsibility to, oh I don't know, do their best to make sure they don't get hacked?

I thought Anon was responsible for all those credit card information getting leaked?
What info got leaked? I only read that it was stolen. I didn't see ANY proven fraud claims stemming from the PSN hack.

Regardless, that was a different group of hackers claiming to be Anon. (which is the major flaw in the Anon anyone-can-be-anon policy)

http://www.psnstores.com/2012/02/psn-maintenance-has-broken-some-users-download-lists/

It seems that the most recent maintenance has caused a problem for some users of the PlayStation Network in Europe. Both the user’s download list and transaction lists are empty, making it impossible for them to redownload purchased content.

It seems to only be affecting PlayStation Plus members at this time. The users who are affected also cannot download anything from the store and are given Error #80023102 when trying to do so.

Sony is aware of the problem and are working to fix it. “This is an issue we are aware of following the PSN maintenance last night. We are currently working on a fix, there should be nothing you have to do your end so please bear with us and I will update this thread as soon as its sorted,” said a community manager on the EU PlayStation Forums. “For those of you worried about losing content I can assure you that this is not the case. Your download lists and purchase history have not been affected, the problem is the ability to access them from your console,” he later added.

Update: It seems that this isn’t affecting just PlayStation Plus members. The problem seems to be far more widespread.

I would've if I had more money and my "games that I'm pre-ordering" wasn't already taken with like 3 others I for sure would've if I could afford it uh...before that just by how awesome they are, lol. I do really want to play it when I can though. Are they going to have DLC cars or something?

Any playstation+ members going to try out battle fantasia when it is released for free? I never heard of the game until now but it doesn't look too bad. I don't see a reason not try try out this fighting game. Plus it is by the same people who made Blazeblu.

So like, getting my pvr today. Going to be doing XIII-2 videos. Not a LP, but some gameplay, tips, bosses, etc.

Also will be doing other games, but they're psp related. If anyone plays portable 3rd on ps3, I'm doing a lot of that.

I paused after 2:34. Couldn't stand him anymore. Though reading the comments did make me laugh and the dislikes really surprised me. Almost as much as the views on the video. XD
