If your free month of PSN+ has expired you can get another free. Info inside. US ONLY.

Its very simple to do. (You can check your PSN+ status under transaction management. It might be expired even though the plus is still next to your avatar, it was for me).

1. Make sure your free month is expired.

2. Go to the playstation store

3. Click the PSN plus promo that says "EA DEALS - FINAL WEEK!"

4. Click the tab that says "Playstation plus"

5. The third Icon down should say "free month of playstation plus." Click it. Redeem it.
If you had a US account pre-outage, go to the PS+ store page, and wait for the big banner on the left hand side to change to either a light blue banner with deals on Tetris and Shank on it, or a big white banner with "Birthday Bonus Months" in big colourful letters on it. Click on that, then click on the Welcome Back icon in the grid. Then, click on "Get Now", and you're set for the month!

Oh. My. Gosh.

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/118/1180451p1.html

I do think this is just a rumor...but supposedly if it were true...

Can we have at least one console come out in the future that doesn't have all these gimmicks?
I think it's too soon for a PS4, I think Sony is planning to maximize it's sales from the PS3 before moving on to something newer, although they might have started developing it.

I don't expect the PS4 till 2015/2016, the PS3 still has lots of room to grow and gain profits for Sony.

Just finished downloading Uncharted 3 Multiplayer beta and I'm loving it. They added a lot more of the FPS multiplayer staples (custom loadouts, more perks, etc.) but it still feels like Uncharted, which is awesome. I can't wait for the full game to come out, I'm so psyched.

Like to say that the japanese psn being back up is nice.
Picked up El shaddai the ascension of metatron demo, so gorgeous ♥
I really like this even though combat is a bit lackluster.... that art direction though ♥♥

The only reason I could see it being a negative is if you buy games pre-owned (obviously) or if for some reason you want to play the game on two PS3s.
But a load of games are doing it nowadays, and although I prefer to buy new games, I do think the online passes that are currently available in the UK are quite dear at around £7, but that said, Red Faction Armageddon was released at £57.99 on PSN today >_<.

Okay, I just want to clarify, since I'm confused...

So this is only hurting gamers who buy games used? Meaning, this isn't some deal where we have to pay extra just to play multi-player, even if the game is new?

This is getting pretty stupid. Won't be surprised if this creates a trend with other gaming companies, followed suit in joint with other consoles.

If I understand correctly, this is basically the same thing that EA/DICE did with BFBC2 and MoH. It looks like something that makes you pay to play online when you buy a used game, which I have no problem with, as I don't support buying used games anyways, as it takes money away from developers.

^ So you don't support buying used movies, cars, and everything else that can be bought used? There's a reason why it's USED. The item lacks the same polish as a new copy.

I enjoy craig listing my games...I save about 20 bucks easily.

If they are going to go out of their way to charge 10 bucks or so to used gamers to enforce online play, then they don't need to make money off of DLC right? You know...that DLC that is just "locked" on your disc?

Depends on the company. If they're douches like Namco, stuff is actually just locked on the disc.

Some stuff is legit downloads and installs.

One I have a problem with. The other, not so much.

Yeah, I mean if it's one thing if it's an expansion pack of sorts like Fallout...but it annoys the heck out of me when I have to purchase additional costumes, skins, for around 5 bucks for 2-3 characters.

I still can't believe I had to pay for Mortal Kombat online, hopefully this won't apply to any of the good games.

It is pretty funny to pay 5 bucks for additional costumes, while another game can offer an expansion pack for 15.

So basically, costumes have 1/3 the value of actual gameplay.

And Craptivision. You cant forget Craptivision and the large amount of maps that they put on the disc of CoD games they basically just resell to you for 15$ amirite

I'm honestly to the point where I'm going to see about legal options relating to this sort of thing. It's stupid. I paid for the disc, I should own everything on it. That's how it used to be, and that's the way it should be.

Assuming this spreads, it would suck. I mean...if I buy a game...I can't loan it to a friend for him to fully enjoy, cause I used the code.

That's profit for ya! Obviously Sony is trying to rack up some money in places where it would otherwise never get a cent out of, that's were people who borrow/buy used games come in who would otherwise never buy it new, it's business on their part.

Seriously, when my friend loaned me MK, I only got 2 days of online because whoever made the game was gay enough to not make the online free

Sad but true, they are obviously trying to stretch the sales of each copy sold, it maddening, I miss the good ol' PS2/XBox era.

I miss the days when game companies:

- Actually did beta testing for their games before releasing them. (For DLC/game patches.)
- DLC was actually new and not on the disc
- No unlock codes
- No pre-ordering BS
- No online passes

etc.

From a buyer's standpoint I'd be more inclined to just pony up and buy a new copy then buy a used game + an online pass. I imagine when you get down to it the price won't be that different =/.

That's not the point. What if I don't want to pay $60 to buy a game at launch? What if I want to wait 6 months down the line and buy it used from a friend? What's wrong with that? Nothing.

It just shows just greedy game companies are these days. They are only entitled to the $60 you pay for the game and nothing else. (Including DLC I guess...)

The idea of "project $10" or "online passes" just serves to hurt consumers who want to save money on their games and want 100% access to all the features on the game disc. (I already pay for XBL gold, why would I need to pay $10 to play the game online/access the game's online MP features?)

It's a shame that Sony is starting to do this now on their games. I really hope this doesn't catch on...(we all know it will eventually...)

I really don't have a problem with launch-day/on disk dlc for the most part. Most on disk stuff is only a few kilobytes that lets you know that they have stuff planned (like Blazblue), and launch day content is usually small stuff that was made in the months during the approval process/marketing/non-development stuff before the game comes out.

I DO have a problem with Activision's practices with truly on-disk content, and I also condemn any others who do this sort of thing, but at least it isn't truly mainstream yet.
