I think it depends, Ultimate classify Kamek to be from the Mario Series because of his artwork despite his prominence as a villain in the Yoshi series while on the flip side, Blargg who debuted on SMW is classified to be from Yoshi due to the use of his artwork from Yoshi's Story, and in the middle, there's Yoshi who represents the Yoshi series while his artwork is from Mario Party while the other uses art from their separate series like Wario and DK.I’m also curious whether they would be categorized as a Mario character or Yoshi character. They debuted in Super Mario Bros. 2 but since then they have been more closely associated with the Yoshi games.
Speaking of separate, I know that this doesn't have anything to do with Shy Guy but how come Luigi's Mansion is still under Super Mario in Smash? Is the entry for the series is still small unlike Persona or DK?On the subject of series classifications of Wario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi, I consider all three to be both Mario characters as well as their own separate characters. My thought is if they regularly appear in Mario spinoff games like Mario Party and sports games, they still count as Mario characters. At the same time, they have successfully branched off into their own thing, especially DK and Wario since they no longer appear in mainline Mario games. Yoshi is in the same class as Luigi for me since both are still very present in mainline Mario games as well as their own separate games.
That’s a good question. I think the most recent Luigi’s Mansion sold extremely well so maybe it will be considered separate in future Smash games.Speaking of separate, I know that this doesn't have anything to do with Shy Guy but how come Luigi's Mansion is still under Super Mario in Smash? well i always imagined shy guys moveset wouldI love the idea of getting more generic enemies for Smash characters. While I personally prefer Goomba, Shy Guy is still really cool in its own way. Do you think they would incorporate anything from its close forgotten relative, Snifit?
Yeah, I imagine Shy Guy would swap to a Snifit mask to shoot the projectile similar to how K. Rool wears the pirate hat to shoot his cannon.well i always imagined shy guys moveset would
Yeah exactly. It could make for a simple enough neutral special or strong sideYeah, I imagine Shy Guy would swap to a Snifit mask to shoot the projectile similar to how K. Rool wears the pirate hat to shoot his cannon.
Probably shared with the Mario's villain theme, while it is already certain this one is not which the stage choice, what would it be?what do we think for victory themes? a unique one or a shared one?
Maybe tracking opponents could be a sort of debuff that makes it so Crypto ignores dodge frames? Like, if a drone manages to catch you in its sights, Crypto could hit you regardless of whether or not you dodge?Noms: King Harkinian x10
Personally, I'd probably pick Bloodhound as an Apex rep...but then again, they're the only Legend I actually used in my brief time playing the game lol
Seems that the two have a similar thing about tracking opponents, with Crypto using drones while Bloodhound uses masterful hunting skills. Not sure how you'd translate tracking opponents to a platform fighter where everyone is visible onscreen at once.
Whoops! Sorry, I just missed them. In general, it may be best to use the "Noms to X" format, as I will sometimes miss nominations that are written out in full sentences when I'm doing up the list...I’ve tried to use all my points towards Predator for the past two characters but I don’t see it anywhere. Is Predator off limits for some reason? If not, I’ll try putting all of them again.
No problem, I’ll try to use that format from here on.Whoops! Sorry, I just missed them. In general, it may be best to use the "Noms to X" format, as I will sometimes miss nominations that are written out in full sentences when I'm doing up the list...
Thanks! I've edited Predator's 50 noms into the last post.No problem, I’ll try to use that format from here on.
oh Amageish the Crypto I was nominating is the main character from Destroy All Humans.I'm going to tag DanganZilla5 now, as they've been nominating this character and are probably best qualified the respond to questions haha. All I can say is that hunting seems neat as a mechanic!
Thanks! I've edited Predator's 50 noms into the last post.
well it was bound to happen one dayoh Amageish the Crypto I was nominating is the main character from Destroy All Humans.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHoh Amageish the Crypto I was nominating is the main character from Destroy All Humans.
well i found that funnyOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH
Welp. Um. Whoops!
I remember seeing this game a long time ago and it always looked fun but I never got around to trying it. From what you described, Crypto seems like a really fun and unique character. We don’t really have a classic alien character in Smash yet either. No need for awkwardness. I'll just introduce you all to Crypto from Destroy All Humans.
Now you might be wondering: What is Destroy All Humans? Well it's an open world action game where you play as an alien, Crypto, who goes to earth to harvest human brain stems for his species as they lack the "proper reproductive organs." So they use cloning, but their cloning devices are degrading with each new clone. Luckily a long time ago a bunch of Furons (Crypto's species) visited Earth and "had fun" with the native humans there, so there is now a strand of pure Furon DNA inside of each human that they can use to stabilize their cloning.
Anyway, moving on, I want to discuss Crypto within the context of Smash Bros. Basically he would be a glass cannon. He doesn't really have any close combat attacks to use and he relies on a shield which can only take so much damage. BUT he's packin' some real heat! He has gained dozens of weapons throughout the series. He has his trusty Zap-O-Matic which delivers a shocking bolt of electricity, the Disintegrator Ray which shoots balls of molten lava, the Ion Detonator which is pretty much a grenade launcher that shoots an iodized ball that detonates on contact and can destroy vehicles with ease. He also has the Disclocator Ray which shoots discs that latches onto people and objects and sends them flying, the Superballer which shoots out balls that attaches to things and sends on them on a bouncy ride, a straight up meteor gun that sends down asteroids from space, The Venus Human Trap, and other tools of destruction.
But wait, there's more! Crypto also has psychokinesis powers which allows him to lift heavy objects with his mind. He also can pick up something and magnetizes objects and people to it, and he can stop time. He has a jetpack for his recovery and allows him to maneuver and fight with ease in the air. And of course he has his flying saucer to rain down death and destruction. For his final smash he goes into his saucer and uses the Quantum Deconstructor to nuke a large section of the stage.
If you listen to the music above, you will notice that yes, Destroy All Humans is a parody of each decade that the games take place in. So for example the first game takes place in the 50s so it takes after all those cheesy alien flicks from that decade, as well as spoofing the communist scare that was happening at that time. In fact, the soundtrack uses a theremin, which is the instrument that is used for that eerie, alien-ish feel. For the second game, it's set in 1969, so there's plenty of jokes around hippie culture, ninjas, and spy flicks. James Bond fans will find a wealth of references in that game.
Destroy All Humans is a special series. It's one of the few games where you are playing as the alien going on a murder spree and it just has a charm to it. I grew up with the series and it's one of my absolute favorites. For those of you who are interested in playing it, there is a remake of the first game available for the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. THQ Nordic just announced a remake of the second game, but that's coming to PC and the new gen consoles only. I implore you all to try it out. DAH is funny, witty, filled with colorful characters, and is great fun. You get to run around and blow stuff up with cool as **** weapons, and you can go into the saucer and level whole towns.
It has a very low chance to get into Smash, but it would be an absolute dream come true for me. Crypto is one my top most wanted, I think he will have a very fun moveset and DAH has great music that will add variety to the already wide range of tunes that Smash has.
by classic alien do you mean the look?I remember seeing this game a long time ago and it always looked fun but I never got around to trying it. From what you described, Crypto seems like a really fun and unique character. We don’t really have a classic alien character in Smash yet either.
Yeah, Ridley and Olimar are technically aliens too but we don’t really have a character yet that looks like the classical depiction of an alien like Crypto.by classic alien do you mean the look?
ok. just checkingYeah, Ridley and Olimar are technically aliens too but we don’t really have a character yet that looks like the classical depiction of an alien like Crypto.
