As a brawl hater, did you enjoy it?

EDIT: Ok, I just realized how ******** this date is. Why was thanksgiving weekend chosen for this? People travelling from alberta are probably gonna miss thanksgiving. Flights are wayyy expensive, and my mom told me that going standby just won't happen for me since it'll be so busy. People driving are gonna get ***** by traffic, there and back, leaving early won't save that fact, it'll be hell on the highway from friday morning till monday night.

Now I know it was said in this thread that the date is going to be set in stone, but I really think Oct.2nd would be a way better date. I forsee some people bailing out from the AB crew since it's thanksgiving. Flights will be cheaper for whoever wants to go (T-block), and I'll be able to go 100% if it's on Oct.2nd, and will not be able to go at all if it stays with this date.

It may sound like bias since I can't come on this date, and it is, I'd really like to come, but I also think for the benefit for everyone that the weekend of oct.2nd is chosen, so people don't have to choose between thanksgiving with their family and smashbros. When it comes down to it, I think family is going to trump smash, and I can see a couple people bailing. I bet some people from BC also can't come due to the ****ty date, so overall I think you'd get more attendance.

If it's not an option at all, then that's fine, I won't be coming and it will be a great tournament with out me, and afterall it's only 1 person showing a negative attitude towards the date, but I hope you can see my logic.
ok wtf. how do u not know when thanksgiving is? the main reason as to why this tournament is held on the 9th is because it is a LONG weekend. i thought i told you that airplane seats would be full because of the holiday.

I did know when thanksgiving was, but I didn't realize how dumb the choice in date was until a few days ago lol.

It wouldn't even matter much for you guys, you could just come back sunday... You don't miss two days of school either way. Maybe you fall behind in some homework, but that's an easy fix. W.e, if most of AB feels that thanksgiving weekend is a better choice then fine.

yea school isn't an issue, i dont have any midterms on the 1st of october (day we would leave, if they change it). but i already booked off work for the 9th and 10th. which is the real problem for me. hopefully, there is NO change. work something out so you can come on the trip, if u cant fly, just come with us.

u would still be able to attend your thanksgiving festivities with yur family because we would be back on sunday night, and thanksgiving is on monday. i dont see a problem other than u having to spend more money.

dont kill the hype.

this date has been up for awhile, which has given people enough time to sort out their lives. i dono, if u cant make it, thats it. just dont randomly post and ask the TO to change the date, it ruins it for the people who actually planned stuff out before hand.

It has been up for 10 days. Any hard things to organize would probably take longer. I am sure your work situation is manageable. You work part time at some place, and you go to school, the job you have cannot possibly be too demanding. I am just voicing something I am sure some people are thinking about. Also, your whole "organization" was worked around the fact that Keith would drive... Some real good organization lol. What if thanksgiving is important for the Hensel family, and they request them to stay? You're ****ed then.

i'll ask the hensels about their thanksgiving situation. and dont assume that they will be able to change **** at the last moment (the venue could be booked on the 2nd). u really shouldn't confront me on my organizational skills, with a little organization yourself this date situation would have been avoided entirely

in the future sort out yur **** earlier. and read a calendar kthnx.

nonono I don't think they can change it, I am just suggesting it if it is indeed possible. I read a calendar, I knew this weekend was thanksgiving weekend, but didn't think that it would be a big deal, which I guess was dumb of me. Don't be hating, but when a bad idea is a bad idea, someone is bound to say something, that person is me. Keith would probably prefer driving in non hellish conditions as well. Just saying.

...Wow, and nobody who is affected by this noticed until 3 weeks after the date was proposed and less than 3 weeks away from the tourney? @_@

Okay. The venue is super flexible so if the date is screwing over a lot of people, I can change it. However, I think the 16th would be a better choice. It would give people more time to book of work and whatever. If everyone could voice an opinion on which date they would prefer, I can make a decision.

The 16th would be best for me, since I now wouldn't be able to make it on the 9th either nor the 2nd. But I would definitely have the money for this by the 16th.

I have a bigger(ish) room now.

So i can fit like 3-4 in my room, youd all be sleeping on the floor of coarse.

If my sister cleans her room, theres another bed in there.

My other sister always has a clean room so thats another bed.

Theres also the living room with 2 Sofas and a floor so like 5ish people could be there.

but ummm idealy.... 5 =D

my AB carpool which has 6-7 ppl, have thanksgiving/ school problems with the 9th. it looks like the 16th is a way better date for us. if u guys are able to change the date to the 16th then it makes it more likely that AB will show.

i dont know about alphicans though.

i'm not 100% percent on everyone's status regarding the weekend of the 16th. a more definite answer will come soon, once they confirm which date is better for them.

it seems 16th is turning out to be a way better date. I'm good with it.

conveniently this is the first post on the 16th page.

Sounds like somebody hasn't switched to 40 posts per page yet. :embarrass

On topic though, I'm really quite amazed at how smoothly this date change idea is going so far. Not only does it seem better for almost ALL of AB so far (nobody has said 9th > 16th yet), and not only does it appear to be easy to change the date with the venue, but nobody here has opposed it yet (myself included), and we might even get a decent showing from the island now. o.0

Edit: except for AJ and Starwaffle so far. Even those haven't been "no", just "maybe not".

16th will work for me. I may have mid terms the following week, but I can study plenty before, and Sunday eveneing, and every other day.

Well originally we planned on staying from Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

That'll likely be the case again. 15th/16th/17th so we can be back by Monday.

The biggest spurn in the date change is I doubt I am able to hang with some people in Van on friday like I was planning, otherwise I don't think it's going to be too difficult to work it out with work this much in advanced.

I'm tempted to let myself have that free weekend anyway lol

OK guys, good news. I just found out that instead of the 400$ I thought I need to save for November, I only need 175$ so financially... I'm set to come to this. It all depends on how Blue Yoshi and I plan to get there. :p

I'll see if I can convince Defender to come as well. :bee:

EDIT: I got school on Friday the 8th, no date change please. :(

Date has been changed to the 16th. I apologize to anyone who can't make the tournament because of the date change.

theres a 100% chance i could attend on the 9th and 100% chance i could house people on that date...

but on the 16th its like a 50/50 chance. So if you are planning on staying with me, make a backup plan 0.0

imma bring 2 wiis, one hacked out with a bunch of textures! for friendlies only, the wii tends to freeze if you press start too fast after the match is over. And my other wii for tourny matches.
