I do have hacks loaded on an sd card in my wii, but it's happened multiple times before I got the hacks. I guess i'll just try to get a new disk.

And meow, how do you do/use usb loader? I've heard of it before but idk what it is. Is there a guide anywhere?

I don't think i've really played any other games in the past six months other than brawl. I used to play mario kart a lot, and of course I've had my fair share of wii sports/play/mario party, but i don't remember it ever having a problem with them.

Brawl is a dual layer disc. Some disk readers can eventually **** up and fail reading them. This happened to me as well, other games worked fine, but not the dual layer ones. It's common for wiis to **** up like this. Get a USB loader.

I'm pretty sure it's not the disc. I had a very similar problem and I confirmed it by testing with multiple Brawl discs. Try to get a friends disc and see if it works. If not, USB loader or get it fixed. I suggest a usb loader. And that guide is decent, though it might be a bit outdated.

Sar, if you want to hack your Wii, kneel before the might of the WC and I'll help you.

And even if you didn't own the game.. Who's gonna care enough to catch you?
LOL

:phone:
I'll go report to the Nintendo authorities.

All hail West coast DI! All hail West coast DI! ; )

Actually ive got brawl downloading on one of my flash drives now. Next question is, how do texture/music hacks work with usb loader? If I already have them on my SD card from when I was using gecko, will they just automatically be activated when i use the USB loader?

I'm using USB loader GX btw, not sure if that makes a difference.

Blehhh i'm so frustrated. I got Brawl installed onto my USB. Now when i start up USB loader GX it seems to work fine, I get the screen with the nifty brawl disk case. When i click on the case it goes to the channel page with "Settings" and "start" at the bottom, just as if it was the standard disk channel with no hacks. I press "Start" and it goes black for a second and then kicks me back out the the homebrew screen. So it's a never ending loop of not getting to play the game. What did i do wrong?

Wait, did you download Brawl or did you install it via the USB Loader? Use Configurable USB Loader.

Good stuff Shadow.

So guys, I'm not familiar with this: Why is G&W called Gdubs? Where did the nickname come from?

How did you do? idk what name you used. Either that or I'm blind, because I can't find you on the results list. Did you go olimar game 1 every time like you said you would?

On another note, I decided to use Configurable USB loader, and it works like a charm! Thanks Grey! Next question, how do you get hacks using the usb loader?

You can activate ocarina in the options before launching a game, which will enable action replays code.
Then you just need all the necessary files in your SD card and you're set to go.

I'm Past. (Less of a mouthfull than Shadow the Past.) I placed 25th.

I beat a new Yoshi player 2-1 with only Olimar.
I lost to Carls' Fox 1-2, Olimar game 1, Gdubs game 2 on Rainbow Cruise, Wolf game 3.
Clowsui double 2 stocked my Olimar, and I couldn't counterpick RC since he saw me against Carls. Debated going Wolf but didn't want to get escorted offstage by Marth. (Wound up happening anyway with Olimar)
Game 1 against Ally I went Wolf (as I didn't want to try and learn the Olimar ditto on the fly) and took it to last stock with him at like, 50% or something. He gimped himself twice at like 100%. Game 2 went Delfino (Idk why I picked here over Frigate.I lost here against the Yoshi so I was in the mindset it was a good idea.) and last stock got him to about 81% before he killed me with a purple bair. He did tell me that was a really close game though, so that felt good, hah.

If I had got one more win against anyone, I'd have tied Carls for 3rd seed.

Well good job dude, I'm thinking of attending my first tournament sometime before Brawl dies out. Any advice for first-time tournament attending? Is the smash community generally accepting of newcomers?

I can't speak for Connecticut, but all my tournament experiences have been awesome, despite not being anything more than a random at my first few. People are always willing to play in friendlies (although they might not play their mains) and everybody's a good sport in their games.

Also, a tournament that has pools is usually better than a straight-to-bracket tourney, as you'll probably get to play more people. (Pools usually have to play 4-6 people, while in bracket you'll face only 2, assuming you lose both sets.) You'll also get to play against more experienced players, and don't be afraid to ask for input. (I flat out forgot to ask Ally for tips cause I was so hung up losing game 2 lol)

I just don't understand how people play with tap jump off. Like yeah, utilt all of a sudden becomes a lot easier to execute, but it seems like rising aerials becomes incredibly hard.

It's a matter of habit I guess (I use tap jump off with my low tier mains, Captain Falcon & Ness). To me, the tap jump was more hindering than benefic, so I set it off and I've playing without it for a while. BTW, I use the Wiichuck controls.

If you have c set to jump on the wiichuck i can understand. I just don't see how people use X/Y to jump on the GCC and are able to do rising fairs immediately off the ground. I like to keep my right thumb rested on the c-stick (and sometimes a and b) at all times.
