No no Orlando, I meant that we should go for a run when I can keep up with you. As of right now my stamina no longer exists.

As for that cross fit thing, is there just new exercises posted everyday that you do? It seems kinda weird.

Also, I can't quite get into physical training because of school for a reason. See, my physical training is martial arts. Problem being that they're expensive, so I'd need a job. School + job = no time for martial arts.

I can still do regular work-outs but they're not as fun =(

I am, but I haven't been getting any practice in lately and have been focused on trying to help out with BBrawl (admittedly, I don't have the requirements to play it, but I do what I can). I'm a huge fan of it.

I'm with you on that, I love doing martial arts. But, like you, I haven't been able to do them.

OK, a bunch of stuff is coming up Thursday, so Thursday isn't going to work for a smashfest. Who's down for a Friday smashfest with 7:30-8pm start time?

Wow, after watching that, I really feel we should have been dual Snake the whole time :)
Alright, I'm down for whenever. Actually, friday is probably easier for me. Just let me know when it is confirmed.

Yeah I meant the same thing. Just let me know whenever you are ready.

Crossfit focuses on functional movements/exercises, something that ufc fighters, american football players, martial artists, and other athletes require. Doing standard static movements isnt gonna benefit these athletes because there will never be a situation where they will be doing such a movement. Instead these athletes will tend to focus on functional functional movements. I dont know them all but they are all somewhat related. Here are some:

1. Squat
2. Front Squat
3. Overhead Squat
4. Pullups
5. Cleans
6. Push press
7. Clean and jerk
8. deadlift
9. snatch I think

basically the website throws out some sort of combination of some of the exercises above and usually you do them as fast as you can. There are also strength days where the focus is one exercise and near max of your capability.

One simple example is as such:

Do 5 rounds of:
10 squats(just use your own body weight), 10 push ups, 10 situps for time. No equipment needed.

Well thats the basics of it. Sometimes theres running thrown into the mix.

Just curious, how do you practice? Do you play online? Also, I hope youve jumped into that algebra book.

I looked at the algebra book. I know everything already. I don't play online; I usually just do other things :p *is playing SA2B at the moment* Online doesn't help me stay in my proper style.

@ Ben, Riley, and Bryant:

If you guys come down for Canal days, we should totally do a Niagara wine tasting tour. And not spit out the wine. Discuss.

Just no Fishwine. Although I think I still owe you a bottle of that, Bry.

So, crossfit is basically doing whatever random exercises the site tells you? Also...

^^^ wtf
No they arent random. They are picked from a set of predefined functional movement/exercises. The randomness comes from which exercises to do, what order, number of reps and number of rounds. Although there are some exercises that are named since they come up more frequently than others and have a set reps, movements etc. The whole idea is to make you as prepared for the unexpected as possible, in the physical sense. All movements are supposedly derived from things you can do in your daily life. Deadlift is like picking up a box to carry. etc.

Haha, I guess I never really payed attention to it much but those are what those movements are called. They are olympic lifts. Its just 'snatch' by the way.

I have heard of clean and jerk but I don't remember what it is. Snatch I don't think I've heard of. I am familiar with the rest of those and I *believe* I know why they are 'better' than the static ones.

Full body exercises utilize the smaller and more intricate muscles that don't usually get worked out from stupid things like curls and such while also working out the major muscles as well. Also, the exercises have greater efficiency by working out multiple muscle groups at a time. Or am I off?

I'm with you on that, I love doing martial arts. But, like you, I haven't been able to do them.
Indeed? What did/do you do?

Also I have a 360 for a little while and got a live subscription. My tag is brahdawg. I only have sf2hdr though. Any suggestions on some games to try? Let me know if you add me.

Pretty much all I play multiplayer is SSF2:THDR, Castle Crashers, and 1 vs 100. >_> Lol, I know, I need more multiplayer games.

Oh, and Soul Calibur 4

Get Braid, Orlando, if only to let me play it!

Also, I'm down for that tournament. The last time I was in Hamilton I was there for a BJJ tournament. The jerks messed up on my weigh in and I was up in heavy weights for my age division(I was light weight at the time >_<). Snagged Second anyways though! I plan to snag second at this one too, beating out both Ally and M2K in a 2v1 match. Who's going to defeat me? PNDMike of course, who will go on to get the number one spot.

Oh, I totally forgot about that epic bundle that's coming out / already out. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Bioshock.

Basically, get that bundle.

Yeah, I'm going to have to try Soul Calibur IV when I get my PS3 (and since I somehow got $350 for my b-day, shouldn't be too long) since I remember trying it with you once Mike, and thinking it was good. Then again....if I remember right you have a 360 instead of a PS3, so that's kinda no good there, lol.

Lol. Yep, I have a 360.

For the PS3, there's a $400 bundle out w/ MGS4 and Killzone 2. . . 60gb model, I think. I'd recommend checking out that.

Or convert to the dark side and get a 360 >_>

Oh sweet, that sounds like a freaking good deal. What store/whatever did you hear getting this or um....something.

And join the dark side? Wouldn't I be a pretty big hypocrite for doing that? Then again, when the PSX came out I was all about the SNES and N64, and now I know the PSX was one of the best systems ever. But we shall see.....maybe one day....far from now.

lmfao.

Can never get enough of those crazy internet pictures.

I was thinking of getting braid. It has a really interesting concept and real brain teaser which is awesome. I just remember not liking the demo music for some reason, it just got on my nerves. Although I found out that the 360 has one of the coolest features ever. You can stream any music from your computer while playing any game.

Harold lent me Bioshock for pc so I doubt ill go for the bundle. But yeah, we should get in some sf2 sometime Mike. The only thing is im not on very often, and I dont have a mic. Also beware that my lil bros might be using my account while on the 360 so if I dont reply or something its not intentional.

I got Blazblue this week, is anyone interested to try it out on Friday? :)

Also, random cool Mega Man 9 rock medley:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cA06uWV_-c&feature=channel_page

I don't know how many of you are into MM9 at all, but they have some pretty cool gameplay tricks I'd never seen before in that video, too :)

edit: Ben/Kai: You owe me $30 each for gas for OiN. It should have been cheaper, but we got lost so much, sorry :/

ok, as long as you're not >210 lbs

Are you setting the rules or me?
Using my expert pokemon analysis, I figure my low kick will have a BP of 80 and since you look like a normal type, it should be super effective.

What's Blazblue?

And btw, that's the guy that did the wind waker medley! Harold was linkinh vidoes of that guy a lot around Christmas so I know him, but listening again is pretty cool. MM2 had the best music though.

Just a reminder; as I told Harold long ago, no IRL fighting in my house :/
There's not even close to enough room in your house, so don't worry =P

Blazblue is a new fighting game by the makers of Guilty Gear. I'd say more, but tbh I haven't even played it yet :(

Yeah, I noticed the Wind Waker medley in this guy's videos. Yes, MM2 had the best music (and was my favourite game overall along with 3...normally I'm a decisive guy, but I can't choose between MM2 or 3!).

lol i'd never actually fight in someones house... ever... that's stuipd, outside is a different story lol

also, i definitely weigh more than 210 (not too much anymore :D) so oh well lolz

I had a good time at the sf4 tourney on tuesday night :) it was epic fun, I hope randy is semi-inspired after meeting john to get a bit better, though more than likely not... harold, i love you man (but you don't read these boards anymore) for those who don't know he beat me out of the tournament, and our match had more taunting in it than the rest of the tournament combined

Oh, you went to that? Harold spent a good half hour trying to get me to go. How was it?

Also, by how much do you exceed 210? I don't weigh too much myself so my concerns are obvious, but since you're not that tall it might not be as much of an issue.

i'm currently around 230, but honestly i know how to use it, and i also am usually slouching... i'm actually 5'10 when I need to be

it was a lot of lolz actually, i had a blast catching up with old friends, and meting new ones (dan)... i had a great time, and I think you would have liked it... even though they trash talk a lot, one thing that they do which our scene doesn't do as much is really get into every match that's being played... random matches would have like 15 people spectating, so it was epic lolz

Dunno man, last time I saw you, wouldn't have put you past 205. Hell, I've got a friend who's 235 and looks 4 months pregnant so I didn't think anything like that. I was like...190 last I checked, disturbingly enough, but I'm 6'0 so apparently it's not noticeable.

Reminds me Ben, since you've been to SF4 tourneys lately, do they usually tend to be exclusive to either the PS3 or 360 version or are both often there? REALLY stupid question, I know.

Seriously? You don't look it at all. I figured 200-210 actually. Also, I'm around 5'10 so it's all good. I'd still be up for it personally, but don't expect anything spectacular!

That's because brawl is significantly more boring to spectate than every other fighting game. I don't think I would have liked it because I never really go into SF4.

Also, I should have been more specific: how was it compared to smash tournaments?

Yea SF4 tourney was actually awesome!

I am now even 200% more hyped to get better, than I was before it.

Ben is right, you endure a bit of trash talk, oddly enough I was so in the flow that I didn't even hear it. The trade off is that with that trash talk comes ridiculous hype too! There's nothing like pulling off a sick combo and having the crowd go 'oooooh!'.

P.S. Ben who was that hot girl in the red striped shirt, you seemed to know her? Tell me she's A. Legal B. Single :)

P.P.S. I'd love to try out BlazBlue Cam, I'm pretty busy lately but I'll see if I can make it out.
