Anyways, as per earlier in the thread, charlesz PMed me about the league rules. My decision is that since the rules are already posted for this season, they won't be changed (especially since matches have already been played with these rules). However, we should get things set for next season. I am pasting the PM from charlesz here about getting rid of Corneria/Green Greens, and getting rid of Wobbling. I'd rather see some discussion about it rather than making a decision just on my own for next season.

The reason BC AL wants to ban Green greens is because when we played a set at my house, he ***** me on the neutral stages ( marth stages) and I narrowly won on the counterpicks. Reducing the counterpicks will allow some character like marth to become far too powerful. All the neutral stages heavily favor marth and CP's should provide a chance for the losing party to win games.

Issue 2) Wobbling. Wobbling should be banned because by getting grabbed even once can/will result in the death of the player that is fighting the Ice climbers. Wobbling is banned from basically all tournaments ( even pound 4 the recent tourny ). Capping wobbling at 250% doesn't make any sense because at 110% and over, the IC can just to U-smash or D-smash or F-smash out of the grab and killl you. Ice climbers already have other effective grab combos ( d-throw to sh dair nana) that are almost infinites. BC AL told me that if he were to lose the first match of the set during leagues he will go IC and proceed to wobble. This will result in BC AL winning leagues everytime ( I played against him during leagues. It was last match last stock and the set was tied 2-2, he got a grab on me and wobbled and killed me). With BC AL wobbling, the league matches will be unenjoyable by everyone because getting grabbed once will eventually kill us.

Thank you for reading all this fogel. I hope you will agree with view because they will provide a more balanced and fun environment for all the league players

My own opinions:

1) We already discussed getting rid of Green Greens and Corneria earlier, and I think most people are already in favor of getting rid of these. We'd need more reasons other than just other tournaments keeping them around.

2) I'm on the fence re: wobbling. No, wobbling isn't fun, but as you mentioned, neither are the rest of ICs grab combos. Playing against ICs is about not getting grabbed; if you get grabbed you will lose the stock unless they mess up, wobbling or no. Wobbling has been around for a while, and ICs still aren't winning major tourneys, so it's hard to argue that it's game-breaking. I prefer not to ban things unless they're proven broken, and the proof still isn't there yet. Play carefully and safely, watch for grabs, do your best to split up Popo + Nana.

Also, capping wobbling at 250% is to stop stalling (for example, an ICs being ahead a stock and then wobbling until the time runs out). ICs killing out of wobbling is ok.

Makes sense, Smash Bros can get pretty boring after a while.

Wobbling: Since the topic of ‘wobbling’ came up, and I am the only IC player around here…let me give you my point of view on this matter.
LOL I was joking for most of the part, about losing the first set and then wobbling. Believe me, GETTING a grab is harder than it seems. Each time I actually land a grab, it seems like I won a lottery ticket. It’s THAT hard. Randy/Arsenic performed very well to the point that I almost did not get a single grab in our last match of our league match. Why? Because he *****. LOL no, his spacing was incredible. Even Fogel himself played a very good peach against my ICs during our last set. He ***** me so badly, that I was forced to switch to marth. I cannot wobble consistently yet anyways (for the most of the part, I choke too easily…john) and I have not been winning all my matches. Like Fogel says, even if wobbling is allowed, then ICS would be winning tournaments here and there. But they haven’t. Why? Because people play smarter against them and not get grabbed. For Falcon and Ganon players, Reverse dair chain grab are almost considered a ‘wobble’ against them. Yet they have not been banned either. It’s because Falcon and Ganons have attacks that prevent them from getting grabbed, and overall play carefully and smarter.
Another thing, why should you be complaining about this? You main fox lol. Fox ***** ICs so badly anyways. Shine is GG for ICs since it splits them up SO easily.
I did not even win the previous league anyways nor did I utterly destroy everyone. I only wobbled you for some reason I forgot. :p
And now that a couple of new tricks involving grab combos have been discovered, I will be applying them to matches now, not wobbling. And they aren’t as game broken lol
There has been that tournament early 2009 when wobbling WAS allowed…(I am not sure, I think it was Genesis or Revival of Melee where wobbling was allowed) Neither Fly Amanita or Wobbles placed very high…
I am also not that great of an IC player yet haha.
And I agree with Fogel, all of the ICs grab combos are not fun to be in. If that were the case, they would ban ICs altogether. But it hasn’t happened because ICs have A LOT of weaknesses…
Overall I do not see that it is gamebreaking. Every character has their own weaknesses and advantages…ICs don’t have anything going for them besides grabs.
Here I will even give you the bible on what weaknesses the ICs have:

Bad Recovery
Bad Attacking Range
Bad Grab Range
If Nana is gone, then GG for me
Not all of the time is Nana there synched with Popo to perform a Wobble.
Bad Traction (can give characters the ability to push the Climbers out of their puny grab range)
And lots more…

It is EXTREMELY hard for me to even land a grab…If you can space and pressure correctly, I am pretty sure you can destroy any ICs that come along your way J

I can probably find and show you a lot of videos ( even against peach) of people getting grabbed wobbled and losing their stock. They are usually hard to find because wobbling is banned in more tournys than allowed. But w/e.

Good luck with single life Phil. If you feel like wasting time and you don't have work/friends are doing something else/ failed at picking up chicks/ ran out of booze money. Ottawa is only a short drive away.

i also think wobbling should be allowed. honestly, as bcal said, getting a grab is so hard with the metagame nowadays. if you do get a grab, it should be so rewarding. most of the time ic's are getting ***** by everything else, so why not give it to them?

Idk Al, I mean if you guys can come any time before 6 from tuesday to friday I could manage. Probably nothing this saturday, relationship johns. **** no bi weekly this week, only week w/o badminton in like 5 months =[

Thursday from 12:30-6. We can set up some stations and do some melee leagues. Post up if you can come! I can't do it friday, going to attempt to play hockey lol.

COugh stereotype . Its more of an exam celebration thing on friday so there can't be a smashfest that day. Thursday and wednesday are up though.
