Typical chapter for the most part. They always gotta party after they liberate an island/city/kingdom lol.

I liked the ending.

a well formed juxtaposition then!

I think why I'm so hyped for this is cuz
what I love about OP is the almost non-linear nature of the story telling. So such a big step concerning the ancient weapon story line, which connects directly to where they are now, I find very enjoyable.

I haven't read One Piece, but I find it amusing that no one is criticizing it as much as they do on the Bleach and Naruto thread. xD And I've always been conditioned to think it was the weakest of the Big 3.

what

whoever told you that is a thief and a liar, one piece far outshines those two (imo, but in most peoples' opinions, japan included), no matter what western popularity polls say

You could probably get some pretty fat posts from people on these few threads explaining their position on why OP is so good. And I don't mean like zomg nami fapfap, mean like legitimate blocks of text about story-telling and characters in general. I probably would now but I have to get to class.

And don't take our praise for it as neglect of the others, I'm pretty sure everyone here loves Naruto. It's just that Bleach is making it too easy and Aizen is everywhere

One thing I like that OP does better for the most part compared to Bleach and Naruto is that the minor characters stay relevant.

Though I do hope they have stand alone mini arcs for the rest of the crew, explaining what they did over the 2 years at some point.

bleach shouldn't even be in the top 3 anymore. fairy tale should be 3rd maybe within the next year at the rate bleach is going

Huh, that is quite interesting, maybe I need to add that to my list of things to absorb.

Ahhh! I hate how Naruto once the time skip went by literally became "NARUTO". It was all about him, and the first half had so many characters and decent development with them... what a shame. Reading that manga has even conditioned me to now hate when other people fight beyond the few mains which encompassed a lot of chapters, like they realized, "Oh! Are character focus is too narrow! *shoves 500 characters out in short battles* Okay, we're good now. :D"

fairy tale is the 4th most popular overall I believe. far above gantz.

tbh I stopped reading gantz after he learned
what he could with 100 points.

okay maybe not more but it equally makes sense

Luffy vs teach. both captain

zoro vs shiryu. both swordsmans

nami vs laffitte. both navigators

Chopper vs. Doc Q (and his horse?). both doctors

Franky vs possibly Jesus. both muscley type guys.

ussop vs van auger. both snipers.

SHirahoshi could fight sanjuan wolf because they are both giant. /shira can call forth bigger things.

although if jimbei joins the SHs then Laboon would need to face off against Sanjaun most likely and jimbei would fight jesus and franky would fight pizzaro

We just saw Sanji and Jinbe double-team a very large enemy as well, they don't have to match up so rigidly. I think the only matching up that's ever consistent is Zoro v. a swordsman.

This is exactly how I feel about Naruto's second half, but I still like it. Just not as much as before Shippuden.

I guarantee that Jinbei will join the crew before they leave the Island... Quote me on that...
Done. ;D

I'm hoping for actual training flashbacks during the next real fights. I wonder who they'll be facing next though.

MGS3 sniper battle. Two guys just chilling for hours. Battle will still be going on by the time the arc is over.

I'm a Zoro fanboy, so I definitely want to see how his training was. From what I got, all Sanji did was run away (who wouldn't?) Usopp's sounds interesting, I wanna know what Robin learned and the interactions with Dragon. And how the hell did Frankie do surgery on himself like that?

You realize that Shirahoshi was like a few times the size of Sunny while San Juan Wolf was, as big as Marineford, right?

people saying fairy tail will be top 3 shounen should rethink that position

it will forever be compared to one piece and come out unfavourably, i can think of 3 or 4 series off the bat that would do just as well as it, if not better (toriko, hunterxhunter in jump, negima, kenichi, etc)

hot-blooded and dumb protagonist, check
women with ridiculous proportions, check
'every-main-character-gets-a-fight' plot advancement, check
never-say-die united front attitudes errywher, check
main protagonist gets the living bejeezus beaten out of him every arc, check

one piece is just more epic in general and has better characterisation (and more memorable characters, though this is subjective)

I would make a case for HxH as top 3. It's been one of my favorites for a long time now.

I think OP got a mediocre reputation because of how it started. You have to get past a few story arcs before it becomes really engaging and enjoyable.

Naruto pre time skip was one of my favorite series. Then it forgot about what other characters were.

Bleach... to be honest, I don't know why people liked it so much. I enjoyed the Soul Society arc, but then it got so repetitive... Of the three authors, I think Kubo is the worst at creating new, separate personalities that we find distinctive.

All of OP's personas are very vivid and understandable, as are Naruto's, it's just that Naruto has just been focusing on Naruto's own personality for way too long, and it's just not all that enjoyable.

That's also why I enjoy HxH. The characters are very likable, you get to see a good spread of them, and the plots are always entertaining. The little tidbits of game theory are also awesome.

I don't know why people rip on Fairy Tail. The characters are good and it has its own distinct flavor that's different from OP. The plots are pretty epic and while you can draw some similarities between it and OP, I think it can make a good case as to why it's so popular.

I think I've made a post about this like 4 times over the course of this account :/ but what I find is the major drawback to Fairy Tail is the immense speed at which problems arise and are solved. It makes everything seem less important so I can never really care about anything that happens. It doesn't help that all the characters seem to get so core-shaken at every step of plot development.

I'll frequently think to myself, it'd be really cool and make sense for such-and-such to happen. And not only does it not, but unlike other series that I find made a better decision than I would have, FT just makes me wanna stop.

It's a series for readers with ADD and too small a frame of reference in manga to gauge quality. That may offend some of you, sorry

the ecchi is good tho :3

I still can't believe it's been a little well over a year since the time skip. Felt nothing like the month we had to wait for it to happen. So does One Piece still have a good 10 years left? I hope so.
