Well there's really nothing more to say. We can want what we want, but we're not the developers. The choice of who goes isnt up to us. There's an official nintendo questionaire thing for submitting ideas for new chars, but its only on the japanese website so good luck there. If you even found it and answered, they'd probably throw it out unless you happen to know japanese and have a computer that can make the characters of the written language. I personally dont want to see Doc go, but I wasnt directing that at the developers, I was directing that at people who immedietly pointed the finger at Doc when it became apparent that not all characters would stay. People say he's no different from Mario because they either dont have an open mind, or have some deeper reason for why they dont like Doc. Its typically people who either cant use him at all, or get owned by some one who does. I wish that every character could stay and I wont point fingers at who should go. Its not up to me or any of us.

You know, their is a cuple of translation websites out their. You type the text in a box, choose the language, clack on "Translate", or whatever they have written up, and tad-da!! A whole letter or page or whatever you wanted ij the language you wished. P.S., their is a lot of languages...here is one...

The thing about translating text with those sites is that they don't correct the grammar. No one really likes reading things with bad grammar, so that's not a good idea.

Personally, I don't want Pichu to go. Sure he's too similar to Pikachu because he's a baby version of him, but there are other moves Pichu could have. Maybe give Pichu volt tackle while Pikachu doesn't, and have one of Pikachu's aerial attacks Iron Tail while Pichu gets something different. Maybe give Pichu some egg moves too. For example, Pichu could have the attack "Present" and toss one at an opponent which will explode on impact. If Pichu does get it, maybe have it heal teammates during team battles.

They could change most of the moves to be different with a few that stay the same. Attacks that get kept could be tweaked a little to have a different effects. Maybe Pichu's thundershock could stun an enemy temporarily to make up for damaging himself while Pikachu's doesn't. Pichu has a lot of potential to be a different character.

To be honest, all charaters that have been labeled as "clones" have the potential to be different. Lots of people just refuse to look into it with an open mind and thats why they say those chars should go. No matter what anyone says, they all have a biased opinion because they play the game in the first place. Only somebody who doesnt play at all could have an unbiased opinion and even then, chances are characters that should definetly stay could end up going. Everyone has their reasons for saying who should stay but I dont really think anyone has a right to say who should go.

My two cents, the whole thing about charactors being cut could have all been a scare to keep everybody in suspense as well as in the dark.

But, imo, Doc just isn't coming back. . .and niether is Pichu. . .nor Young Link. . .nor Mr. Game & Watch. . .nor Captain Falcon. . .nor Ganondorf. . .nor Zelda/Shiek. . .nor Mewtwo. . .AND (I already have about a thousand people that hate me at this point, so time for the coup de gras) definately NOT Falco.

That, IF 100% accuracte, will cut nine members (including two pokemon. . .I don't want Pichu or Mewtwo to go, but it'll be for the best intent of the game), thus creating TONS of room for newcomers (minus the five already confirmed newcomers, of course) to the game (I want three to maybe four pokemon to come back in place of the two going, personally).

Um, Yellow Mage a couple pages back was calling everybody an idiot for saying that freaking FOX MCCLOUD AND CAPTAIN FALCON were definatly coming back, stating they didn't deserve to be in Melee because he wasn't a fan of their games. I don't care if it was an opinion, he sure as... Heck didn't treat it as if it were one. My one throw away comment is hardly commiting a massive hate cycle on him, and singling my comment out means I have to drag it out longer so I can explain myself. Sheesh.

Anyway, after that outburst from Woody I apologize for any connections I made between YM and Woody. I really don't care either way and I was only pointing out how YM was basicly doing the same then Woody was a couple pages back, albeit in English. By no means do I think he's an idiot, just a tad bit hypacritical.

Woody, that was a very, very rude comment you made about Steve Irwin. He was a well-loved conservationist (spelling?) and animal specialist throughout the world. He has been equally missed by both Australia and by America. It also hits me on a personal note, because Mr. Irwin has been one of my heroes since I was eight. I always dreamed of a chance to meet him... and yet I never had that chance. At least he died doing what he loved.

xianfeng, you shouldn't have taken out your anger by insulting America. True, there are times where my classmates and I question President Bush's authority (then again, I'm liberal and he's conservative...), but there are countries where their political systems are far worse- such as dictatorships. The terrorists attack us for various reasons- some believe it is "correct" according to their religion or even from jealousy of our economy/freedom. Sorry, but I'm really losing my respect for you.

There is no one "great" country. There is, however, a great alliance between many countries. And last time I checked, Australia and America were on pretty good terms. So... let's keep it that way here, okay?

So, to glenno's post: Sure, he could be given a unique moveset... then again, so could Young Link and even Pichu too(MewtwoMaster2002 had some pretty cool ideas for him... see pg. 62!!). There's just a few problems with this:

1) As a clone, he is just TOO similar to Mario. Like Young Link and Pichu, he looks too similar to his original. Nintendo even said he was just Mario in a doctor's suit. There are only minor tweaks between his moveset and Mario's, and they are hard to notice, for example, his cape is longer and thinner than Mario's.

2) Nintendo also included him in the game because they wanted to use the Dr. Mario theme song.

3) What would they give him for his moveset? He could be Luigified, sure... but what to Luigify? In the Dr. Mario series, you mostly threw pills into jars. Maybe the viruses could be incorporated into the moveset somehow. For a new move, someone suggested he could also throw syringes... but seeing as that could a be a reference to drug usage and it could also give the smashers STDs, I don't think they'll use those either.

Overall, I believe Doc will be cut, and his stats will be fused with Mario's.

What if they kept the Ice Climbers, and sort of built on the double charactor idea! I personally think it would be an awesome new archetype to introduce. Not only do you have the Ice Climbers and Twinrova, but Plusle & Minun, and, if we're lucky, Palom & Porom.

When you think about it, most of the clones are just that: clones. Think about it: not only does Mario become Doctor Mario, but Young Link grows up to be Link, and even Pichu grows up to be Pikachu!

Also, no politics. We are talking about ficticious charactors we love, and, truly, nothing more. See explaination at bottom for more in-depth info on this statement.

You and I may not agree in a few places, but you and I are cool, nonetheless .



I would like to summarize what this post truly means, above and even beyond the original post. Some people want Fox to come back because he has "the shine," others want Peach so they can keep on Float cancelling. STILL other hate Pichu for not only being a clone, but hurting himself with his own element!

But look BEYOND the moves in Melee. We have NO IDEA who will have what, and why, or when! So do not say you want X Charactor so you can pwn everybody online: as a matter of fact, don't rely on it! Don't even say you want Z to be cut because he will suck, because chances are he will come back, just -slightly- reinforced.

What everybody should say is they want Y in because they just like Y and the charactor that he IS, and feel comfortable with the idea of breaking him out in the Super Smash style!

And for us "Negative Nancies," if you don't like W Charactor, and feel for some reason W just doesn't belong, well, more power to ya, as it is your opinion that you have every right to!

Let the IC's and GAW return! While neither of them are my mains, I enjoy using the IC's every so often just for kicks. And GAW is too unique to drop. So let the Old-Schoolers return! End the noobish rumor! End the noobish philosophy of "omg they are t3h 5uxx0r5!1". Bring back Popo, Nana, and GAW for Brawl!

I guess you can't do much with Doc's moveset. I really only want him to stay because he is my main character. The only way that Dr. Mario could stay would be if Mario's moveset was changed. And that'll never happen.

Other people I want to stay are Mr G&W, Marth, Roy, Ice Climbers and Young Link. Well actually I'd like it if everyone could stay. Why ARE they making cuts?
