well, kismets current status message on AIM is: "Pokemon Trainer is my worst match-up" -HugS
sooo... I'm gonna go with PT lol
The matchup always catches me by surprise, I should re-post some of the vids of me v Mexi that we're on my old YouTube account.

I'm annoyed that I got 3rd in my pool instead of 2nd, which caused me to fight DEHF first round. I then beat GDX in losers, and lost to Sean (the one who teamed with Ally). Uhhhhhhhg it was so close. For some reason my DI was SOOOOO awful that set. WC kept trash talking me, it didn't get to me, but it must have somehow transferred their awful DI into me :D

I'll try to get Genesis vids up tomorrow.

Reflex beat me with his PKMN Trainer when he came to Louisiana as well, so I'm not too surprised. It's all that ****ed Squirtle's fault, but w/e.

Who does Vex play?

..........really?

HugS, you got some 'splainin to do!

We have an advantage in that match-up and the only real "trick" Bowser has is grab release ****.. Bowser shouldn't be grabbing you. Your disjointed range ***** him constantly...I could go on and on and on. C'mon. Tell us something.

From what Chibo's twitter said during Genesis, Vex was MM'ing pros and and winning using Bowser. Vex even beat Azen at CoT4 with Bowser in bracket, so I'm not surprised.

I mean, it doesn't matter. HugS is allegedly good too. ROB should win against bowser so even if Vex was a bit better than HugS, he probably should have won.

Edit because I left my post there for too long and got ninja'd.

If that's the case, whatever. I just don't want HugS trouncing around here saying he's going to revolutionize the ROB metagame when he can't even place as high as t0mmy.

Man I wish I had gone to this now, I expected Hugs too place higher but good job t0mmy. 33rd is really good at something huge like this.
As for PT and Bowser lol, I hate to say this but I dont see how ROB can lose to PT especially when he has to switch and Bowser is lol for ROB. Was it any close? I need to see vids.

LoL who said anything about Bowser?

He used DDD vs me, and he has Chibo practice for sure.

As for PK trainer, I have no clue in the match up whatsoever, I've lost to Typh twice here in Socal.
I don't see why the match up would be in ROB's favor either. Squirtle destroys him. You can't even start one of your KOing aerials before he rushes in and punishes you for trying. When you finally manage to kill him on your #2 stock, you're at about KO percentage. So he throws you off with ivysaur, switches to Charizard, does the KO. Then he's back to squirtle for your last stock.

Play Reflex, you'll see.

As for not being able to place as high as t0mmy, it's quite obvious that a difference in brackets could cause a difference in placings. I mean, I placed higher than him @ Tourneyplay, where he lost to Tyrant (As would I) and Praxis (whom i've beaten in 3 money match sets now).

If you want to get into some sort of analysis of the Genesis bracket, then ok...

At Genesis T0mmy beat Mhizzle, a player I haven't heard of.
Then he beat Inui. I've never played him, so I couldn't say anything about it really.
He beat Fly amanita, WC's best Ice climbers, who I beat about 2 weeks prior here in Socal.
He lost to Nyjin and Dao, two players who I'm undefeated against. 2 sets vs Nyjin, 1 set vs Dao.

So...not to take anything from t0mmy, since I do think he's extremely underrated and better than almost every ROB out there, but with his bracket I could have done just as well, or more than likely better. Up to 13th realistically by looking at his losers bracket.

As with my bracket, I faced the guy that placed 9th @ COT4 and beat Azen(Vex) and the guy who 3 stocked MikeHaze the night prior and a character I have trouble against (Reflex).

If it makes you all feel any better, I 2-0'd everyone in my pool minus Atomsk.
Plus, it's Brawl, I don't know why anyone really expects anything from people anymore.
I mean you can't even count on m2k winning anymore, or Atomsk placing top 8. This game breeds inconsistency and upsets, especially in environments filled with OOS players with no experience amongst themselves. This was my f*** up tournament sadly, and don't act like you all haven't had yours either.

Holy with his 33rd @ COT4 and questionable losses
T0mmy when he didn't make it out of pools @ Winter Game Fest (I mean I didn't make it out either, but I was on an official 6 month Hiatus)
And Chibo, I don't see you on Apex singles results, idk if that meant you didn't make it out of pools or you simply didn't enter.
Then there's Sudai with his lack of placings anywhere ever...lol JK, <3

This **** happens to everyone.

If you want to know how good I am, then just play me @ EVO. Or i'll be at Pound4.

I never really claimed to be good, I tend to just be good at smash theory, teaching people thje game, and analyzing the game. I had planned to go to Genesis but I decided to quit this game for reasons you yourself stated.

This is why I quit. Even on a small regional or even local scale, player skill seemed to take little precedent and placings were mildly random. You could estimate "These players in this range" fairly easily, but those ranges can get jumbled and mixed up a lot. Iunno. Just rambling now. XD

I must admit, getting 33rd at Genesis impressed me and that's better than I thought you would have done. I'm still going to say you suck though. :p
Haha, that's fine. I'm used to it by now ;^D
But if I played better I would have been guaranteed at least 13th where I'd be fighting Dojo. But I have a good knowledge of the Meta Knight matchup, so I think I might have had a good chance at beating him if he didn't know the R.O.B. matchup. It's my biggest problem is getting way too tired at tournaments, usually I'm only good on the first day when there's pools, after that I'm not focused at all. No johnz though, I'm done with getting all upset over my legendary tired johnz, lol, I learned how to be happy with just trying to play my best--our best fluctuates, so no need to beat yourself up over a bad performance.

Yeah, totally, brackets definitely make a big difference.
But I could say the same thing with Tourneyplay. The people you beat at tourneyplay were people I 3-stock. I can 2-stock Wereuop, whom you lost to. So it's not like that's going to make a deciding factor.

You're making me pull out my johnz here now, HugS, lol.
I made 1st seed in WGF pools, but they did a second round and completely disregarded the seeding from 1st round of pools so I was stuck in a pool with DEHF and other good players --two 1st seed & a 2nd seed (who only lost placing to MikeHAZE). The stupid thing is I think one of the scores was written incorrectly, like it was 2-1 in my favor and then it was written 1-2 and they asked if he beat me and I said yes because he beat me one round and I was all upset over it. I didn't quite understand why I wasn't getting out of pools getting 2nd seed, I thought there was a tie or something. But, whatever, nothing to get hung up over.

Oh, Just so you know, Dao is a friend of mine, and I 3-stocked him in our MM the day before. Pretty much anyone can pull a win against me when I'm tired, after 3 days of Smashing I wasn't playing too well :^p

I think Tourneyplay was the only event I ever placed lower than you. Bring your game to EVO and I hope we'll be going to finals together. You know, R.O.B. always wins EVO ;^)

If you want to know how good I am, then just play me @ EVO. Or i'll be at Pound4.
Truth right there. That's the only real way anyone can say anything. I've played HugS, and he is too good.

Meh whatever T0mmy, I had no intention of getting into it with you since I respect your ROB and think it's better than most other ROBs easily.

I just used your bracket as an example since people chose to compare me to you, as if you are either Bad or far better than me.

This is why I quit. Even on a small regional or even local scale, player skill seemed to take little precedent and placings were mildly random. You could estimate "These players in this range" fairly easily, but those ranges can get jumbled and mixed up a lot. Iunno. Just rambling now. XD
This is really perplexing to me too, and has been a real force in making me think about quitting at times. I'm gonna write some sort of paper on why there is hardly any consistency in this game. There has to be reasons beyond simply tripping and stage hazards.

I think it has much to do with the dodging and shield mechanics of this game.

I hate to say this, but I do want R.O.B. to win EVO. Wait, I don't hate to say it, because I <3 R.O.B.

Best of luck to all you R.O.B. players going to EVO.

It's because people play inconsistent characters.

Dedede (in his strong matchups), Ice Climbers, Snake, Metaknight, Falco (at early % via chaingrab), Wario (due to fart naturally occuring), Diddy.

Those characters you will see staying strong, at least in their comfort zones, because they see an opportunity, take it, and either deal a ridiculously larger amount of damage than their opponent or get a KO. With the exception of MK, who can create openings while other characters rarely can.

In Melee, you had consistent results because it would be a single player want to get a single opening, and they'd wreck their opponent because of it. In Brawl, when you get that single opening you do NOT wreck your opponent but instead have a "string". You generally deal anywhere from 20-40 damage at most with most strings until you hit around 60-70% when you can no longer combo, and then yu do about 10% per hit.

This means that only characters that can reliably kill around 70% are viable in the game, and only if they can capitalize on the opportunities by getting a KO.

D3 can chaingrab people for a ton of damage repeatedly regardless of %, MK is MK, Snake can f-tilt for 21% or u-tilt for a KO as well as d-throw tech chase, Wario can fart for a KO at low % (camping all the while!), Falco can chain grab into spike, then edgeguard (even if he fails, if successful he's done about 80%, more than enough), Diddy can always combo into damage dealing or a KO move with his bananas, and ICs can chain grab from 0-death.

Most other characters can't even combo to 60-70%; Brawl matches look similar to Melee matches when both players were at ridiculously high percentages, getting single hits and flying around the stage.

ROB is not a good character in that his combos, strings, and KOs are all luck or skill based. The other characters listed above get them handed on a silver platter, and they don't even have to read their opponent. Just react.

Vex used Bowser in some matches at CoT4, but beat Azen with DDD/GaW

I said Vex was MM'ing people with Bowser at Genesis and winning, not pros lol. Though he was supposed to do one with MikeHaze, but that didn't happen unfortunately. They played a bunch of friendlies instead and went even.

Vex does have all the ROB practice he wants from me.

PT is pretty annoying for ROB, but it's not a bad matchup. But we're also talking about Reflex, most likely the best PT out there.

I wasn't in Apex results because I got screwed out of pools. My pool was originally seeded properly, with one pro ahead of me. Then on a random whim, Inui threw in another player around my skill (slightly better) in my pool instead of a differ. I couldn't find the main TO for like an hour to dispute it. I lost to the two people ahead of me. Top 3 made it out, I should have been fine. However the person thrown in wasn't even going to be there day 2, and someone else from the pool (that I already beat) told him that he was worried he wasn't going to make it out, so the person threw in threw his match to him, giving me and this person a tie by sets. We had the same # of wins, and despite me beating him in the head2head, I had one extra loss than he did, which put him as 3rd seed. The sad thing is, the TO knew the person who was thrown in who got 2nd seed wasn't going to be there day 2 but kept him in the bracket as a bye instead of finding a way for me to be in it, when other pools with absent people had 4th seed moved up.

I unfortuantely was one hit away from getting 2nd seed in my pool at Genesis instead of 3rd, and getting 3rd made me fight Larry (DEHF) first round sort of dooming me from the start. I lost to Sean (who got 2nd in teams with Ally) in an incredibly close set in losers. If I was on my game I'm confident I would have won but no johns. My DI was so off (cause I was in West Coast? lol) and I think I died from a MK bair off the top of the screen in one of the stocks lol.

Everything Overswarm said is true.

Genesis only proves how varied results are even further. There's really no true way to simply rank character mains.

New Results for Me :O
Gigabits: A July Brawl
13/58
2-0 Random guy (Zelda)??st
2-0 Ryo (Best Ike in florida)21st
0-2 Seibrik (Best smasher in florida)(Mk/DDD) 1st Ok I want to talk about this one for a second. I have two witnesses that will attest to the fact I should of WON this match. First match MK vs RoB. I spike him at 12% off the stage and kill him. He comes back and I eat a Shloop @ 40% and die. I have a 50+% lead the rest of the game and on his last stock he started the tornado spam. I still don't Have a viable answer for that ... and he catches up and kills me. He was at ~140 when I died. I was at ~110.
Second Match I take him to FD He picks ddd. Right Off the start I stage spike him at like 20%. I keep a 50% lead on him the rest of the match. He got 2 chain grabs across FD and ties it up. He ends up U-tilting me. He was at 140 I was at 200. -_-; Both games I had a clear lead until the last stock and I just choked and blew it...Best games I've ever played tho :D.
Me vs Hiroi (Peach)21st 2-0
Me vs Mampam (Snake/RoB) 5th 1-2 Lol he rob dittoed me for the first match and i took it. Second match he cped FD and camped the **** out of me =/. Third match I went Frigate and it was reaaaaaaaaaallly close. Like 100+ both of us last stock and he got off a bair =/

I Lost to the guys who got 1st and 5th and almost beat them both so I'm not to upset :#

Stole this from the Mario boards

R = ((P^-1)xE/5)+(W/E), where R is ranking points, P is placement as a fraction, E is entry fee, and W is winnings. (W/E) is always greater than or equal to 0, E/5 will always be at least 1, and if there are ever winnings but no entry fee, entry fee will be treated as $5. So, for example:

R = ((3/100^-1)x(10/5))+(75/5)
R = (100/3 x 2) + 15
R = (33.333 x 2) + 15
R = 66.667 + 15
