A large, dark stormy castle with lots of bats.
Ehrgieiz sucks large amounts of various things. Please never mention that again for the sake of my soul.

Anyway, Brawl is first and foremost about Nintendo nostalgia. Cloud and Squall are giant slaps in the face to Nintendo. Square left them for Sony in those years. Why would Nintendo advertise PSP and PS3 games with those characters when they could advertise upcoming Squeenix DS games? Besides, who was high in Sakurai's poll? Oh yeah, Geno.

They didn't do Pokémon Trainer with SSB or Melee, so logically, he doesn't actually exist.

Please, can you stop? Your posts are horrible, and devoid of anything that could ever resemble intelligent reasoning.

A lack of precedence to include a generic mascot-type character does not become "precedence to never have a generic mascot-type character".

If lack of precedence to include something worked like that, then I could have argued that no Fire Emblem representative would have been included in Melee for the reason that they did not include any in SSB, meaning that Strategy RPG reps were out of the question.

The idea that because another series did not do it, no series will do it. That logic has never worked in real life, much less in fiction.
Ike is not the mascot of Fire Emblem and Lucas is not the mascot of Earthbound. By your logic, Mr. Saturn should have been playable and not Lucas.

Your comparing Pokemon to Final Fantasy for some strange reason where you control someone that you never even see on screen during battle. you control the POKEMON to attack.

It's also still a stupid idea

So... Essentially, no one should represent FF?

You're adding on arbitrary, random conditions for a character being playable that Sakurai may or may not agree with. Literally never has anyone whose worked on SSB suggested that they have to be unique characters to be playable.

Are you really this thick-headed? They don't have to be the mascot. But being the mascot of a franchise does help. You have been constantly making statements that amount to "I say this and Sakurai agrees with everything I ever say!". You keep using what characters are or are not to say that Sakurai wouldn't do this, even though Sakurai never set any limitations that would exclude Moogles - like, for instance, I can't argue that being a mascot helps his chances, solely because not every single character in Brawl is a mascot of everything. Ike and Lucas are the current heroes of the current games in their respective franchises. There isn't just one reasoning that can be used to include a character.

Then I guess they should include the newest hero that has/ will appear on a Nintendo system

Main characters?? ok... Blackmage was in the group of the 4 first mains of the series.

Thats enuff.
If he was the main character, how come in Dissidia they made the Warrior of Light the Warrior class instead of Black Mage, and didn't include him at all?

FFIV DS, I keep saying it, but no one listens.

Anyway, if a moogle were in Brawl, chances are that it's Mog, not random moogle.

Did you ignore the very last sentence in my post that said "there's not only one reasoning that can exist to include a character"?

My God, you have no ability to form a proper argument. Are you saying that Sakurai included Ike and Lucas for no reason whatsoever? They were included for a reason. The fact that they are the newest heroes in their series is no coincidence.

However, your logic is that I cannot use the mascot reasoning to support Moogle because not all characters are mascots. If Sakurai subscribed to inane logic, you'd be right. However, characters are included for a variety of reasons. They can be included for being mascots OR for being the current star of the current game in the series.

Do you not understand that simple reality?

More great logic - every game only has one main character. I guess every movie does, too. Which means that either Vincent or Jules from Pulp Fiction is a lesser character than the other.

A remake fueled by the success of a remake. Not exactly incredible representation.

The mascot of Final Fantasy is Chocobo, not Moogle.
Perhaps, but Chocobo simply wouldn't work as well.

...and if a character from Final Fantasy does get in, it WILL be a main character from the series...
You forgot an argument in that post.

And in all of your other posts as well.

An argument isn't "this is going to happen because I say so, so I win." Switch "because I say so" with "because of this undeniable fact". And by the way: something that no one has proven that anyone who's ever worked on the series supports is not "undeniable fact".

Like Garland, right? Sephiroth? Chaos? Kuja?

Fact is, we've never seen anything to suggest that it is only main characters and main villains.
We never seen anything to suggest they won't include anything but main characters and villains

I'm not saying that a moogle would be a bad choice, but what would his moveset be? You can't very well have the terrain altering effects of Mog's dances.
Dragoon moves, those little bat wings, and Hell, magic. He's used magic in Tactics games and FFVI.

On top of that, there's the Chocobo Summon from FFVII, the writing gimmick from FFIX, etc.

We never seen anything to suggest they won't include anything but main characters and villains
I'm pretty sure you have a double negative in your post, since your post basically says that they will likely have more than main characters and villains.

But I'm going to assume that you made a mistake, so...

Your logic is wrong in SSBB's case, and it's just as wrong with Dissidia. Do you realize that lack of evidence to suggest a character's presence in a game does not turn into a surplus of evidence to suggest that they are not in?

You are assuming that it's only mains and villains solely because they haven't confirmed anything else.

Most characters from FF6 would be interesting. Locke, Terra, Mog and Setzer to name a few. Maybe even Vicks and Wedge(I kid I kid)

With magic, you may as well have Black Mage. Dragoon moves you might as well have Kain, though Cecil is better. Everyone uses magic in FFTA and VI; then again, since he would be representing FF, magic would be a must, but then you have to decide what spell or spells he'll have. Choco/Mog would be a funny FS though.

The writing gimmick from IX though, what was that? All I remember is Mognet.

I just think it'd be a stretch, and Ivalice moogles are different from pre-XII FF moogles.

Mog uses magic, uses lances, and is recognizable.

On top of that, his Dances COULD be moves - all it would entail is that the background not change.

The background is a minor aspect of Mog's Dance. They don't actually affect the enemy, it's the effect that takes place afterwards - water rushing, rocks falling from the sky, etc.

But how would the dances work then? The moves that come out are random and dependent upon the environment that you summon.

Um, how about Sakurai would implement the moves without a background to go with them?

At no point has Smash EVER made a point of saying "the moves must be exactly the same as they were in the source material."

Cape, Sword Spin, Power Beam, etc.

I realize that, but to have a random move come out... How many dances would he have? Just on one b? And how would it work? Random move comes out or you trip?

What about Cecil with the ability to change between his light and dark forms which are clones of each other? <_<

Or a Light Warrior/Luneth/Bartz/Marche/Luso who use moves from all of the jobs they can be for their moveset?

Or Terra with her various magicks, transformation, and sword attacks plus moves from other FFVI characters (which could be done for any character, really...:/)

And stuff.

But, the main point of Pokemon is the many different species of Pokemon you can own. The game is MADE of generic characters.

Final Fantasy has better reps than "Moogle".

I love how 3/4 of the people arguing have maybe played 1 or 2 Final Fantasy games and are pretending you are experts. I have played and beaten FFI-FFXII (ps1 tactics, gba tactics, FFX-2, crystal chronicles.) beating more than half of them multiple times. I don't only know this series, I love it and can recall almost every moment. To the people claiming a black mage is a representative of the series, YOU'RE WRONG. Only 5 Final Fantasy games featured the black mage.(FF1, FF3, FF5, VIVI from FF9, and a the class in FF11) Thats not even half of the official core games in the series. If anything a chocobo is the most repetitive character in the series, only not making an appearance in FF1.

I'm going to make this short and simple. A clear representative is CECIL HARVEY. He was the main character when the series redefined what storytelling and character delevelopment should be in a RPG. Not to mention the active time battle ATB system it introduced that RPG and MMORPGs today still use. Most RPGs today are lucky if they are even half as good as this 16 year old milestone.

Agrue with that.

I played:

FFI
FFII
FFIII
FFIV
FFV
FFVI
FFVII
FFVIII
FFIX
FFX
FFT
FFTA
FFMQ
Chocobo Racing
Chocobo's Dungeon

And who even knows who Cecil is nowadays? Moogle has appeared in many games in the series, and is commonly known by FF fans, no matter what generation they're from.

YOU DO! You know who he is. 80% of the people who played melee had to look up Marth on wikipedia to find out who the hell he was. Cecil is the man and will soon be given a graphic and game update on the DS. Everyone will know him who likes RPGs and has a DS.
