I had a convo with :dazwa: on aim a while back, from right after he beat lingling in a set, and as a kirby player himself he said that the set itself was very indicative of why kirby is not a good character.

Im going to be watching to see what happens with this whole kyora story very closely

To be fair, Kirby has some nice traits going for him. He can keep you out for days, and once he gets in, he can do a lot of damage.

Unfortunately, he has no reliable way to KO people; much like Peach and Luigi, the opponent pretty much has to throw himself at you in order for you to do anything.

If these characters had a reliable means of gaining the lead (with, say, Fox/Falco lasers), they would be so much better. However, as it is, if you want to play Kirby or Peach, you may as well play Dedede, since they follow similar rules and Dedede accomplishes much more with them.

A better comparison for Luigi+ would be Snake.

I have some good respect for Kirby.

While he has some approaching and range issues. I do think he can KO people well, as in he has moves that kill very well, his set-ups are more limited but he still has some legit traits to get them.

Then his grab game is much better, heavier characters will get locked into his low % grab combos/strings. Even floatier characters can be put into these situations.

I don't think he is a bad character.

was my first tourney in 4 months. i'll be back n wax that mexican *** soon enough. but kain also was up a full stock last game in GF's vs Lain's IC's and then the power got unplugged and they had to split

Kain's a goddamn monster.

Yea I usually never underestimate anyone and i never sandbag because that **** is mad disrespectful, but this is different....it's Zelda.

For the record, I think I was trolling when that conversation happened. Kirby is still ehhhh but Zero Suit is ehhhh anyway so I'm not one to talk :p

theres a vid, that I cant seem to find of chu vs some snake, i think it was takeover. and chu loses even though he has a 120% lead at one point, just because when you play right, bair is the only move kirby can feasibly hit you with.

KID: I've been trying to tell the Kirby mains that when done right, the ZSS MU is unwinnable for them because of exactly what you saw in that video. How can Kirby approach? His only hope is taking ZSS' crappy nB and using it against her, or trying. It's 65/35, probably 70/30. Yeah he's awesome when you get inside, but that video shows how easy it is to stop that from happening.
