What do you use for aerial attacks during a float cancel, like button wise? And what is the dtilt trick, I've never heard anything about it.

KJ > KDJ

I remember watching KJ in some old FC Crew battle vids and thinking he was really good but I must have promptly forgotten. Reviewing some of his vids, I can definitely see some qualities to his Peach that you've absorbed, most of them relating to the glib and unpredictable ease with which she changes directions. Maybe it's related to DJCing?

Of course, your style is definitely your own at this point, your Peach more refined than his, but what an awful waste of talent for him to stop. Boo!

Sorry. Yeah, some people press left and right with much more enthusiasm than other people, thus allowing them to DI better.

dtilt trick?... I use Y to float/jump and A to aerial. I never use the c-stick for any of Peach's aerials, ever.

Why do you compare KJ with KDJ? They've very very rarely played and KJ hasn't even played seriously or gone to major tournaments in years and years.

Nevermind, I misread an earlier post. Do you have much experience against Luigis? I have problems, and I was wondering if you knew good approaches and such. Thanks for answering my questions btw.

cort what do you usually do in a matchup against a jigglypuff? ive played against some good jiggs and usually all i can do is try and keep spaces and using the oversmash to keep distance. any ideas??

That's too bad.
I might as well ask some more questions since you're here. lol
Is there some trick to the dair->nair during a float? My nair doesn't come out as fast as on any of the vids I've seen. Is it just practice?
Favorite combos?

Turnips. Turnips... and more turnips. Turnips are the epitome of this matchup.

You have to time the A for the nair right as the dair is about to end, since it has a few IASA frames.

Peach combos of any variety are good.

Compared them because the acronyms look similar and I misread KJ at first. And because I heart Peach. I was totally not even being serious ^_~

It seemed like you had more you were going to say in response to the original post, though.

Also, since you brought it up, I'm curious what you DO use the C-stick for. Turnips? D-smash? DI?

Smashes that need to come out ASAP. Peach/Sheik/sometimes Marth dsmash, Marth fsmash/Fox usmash...

Stuff like that. I rarely use the c stick in order to uair while falling through platforms.

IASA is interruptible as soon as. It's the MOST evident in Marth's dtilt. For example, dtilt with Marth then hold your shield without doing anything in between. Notice how long Marth takes to put up his shield. Then, dtilt with Marth and you can almost instantly react with a dash or another dtilt or a jab, anything really besides another "down" move such as counter, unless you slightly move after the dtilt animation in order to "interrupt" it.

I'm really bored so I'll ask you some more questions. Samus match up in a nutshell. Dos and don'ts, edgeguard, and approach.

Back in the city that never sleeps and I thought I pop in my copy of smash and practice some stuff. While doing so, I noticed something I used 2 Controllers for this. In one controller I had Peach do a Fsmash behind her.then while holding that direction of the C-stick I moved up to fox. Then I had fox shine me. she flew back and did a cliff hanger. and with out holding it, she just tips the edge but does not cliffhang. Now I assume what I did was ASDI.

Now for my question.

If I get shined lets say twice, can I just hold the C-stick away from fox to start my ASDI on the third shine? or is it too late for me to try that? Same goes if I do it in the middle of his drill

Yes. Jab cancelling is abusing the IASA frames of jabs in order to do them in rapid succession by crouching in between each jab.

Dark.Pch, yes. I prefer to jam the control stick to the timing of the shine, you get a significant boost in distance. Also, whenever I'm drilled I usually just hold away from Fox and often times puts me out of range of the shine.

trademark, if you're going to hijack cort's thread and give advice, you should at least go in depth about what playing smart entails in a certain match up.

fine

playing smart vs samus means a few basic things.

1) dont run into something extremely obvious aka charged shot/missles
2) ur not gonna do insane combos on her. shes very floaty so dont try to follow up attacks that u shouldnt be
3) dont camp hard. samus outcamps you, esp on stages with platforms
4) counterpick smaller stages

I went through this already but I guess I'll paste what I said to save Cort the effort.

Samus can be a problem for Peach. But you can be a bigger problem to her. here is a few things I want you to work on if you want to get better at this match.

When you hit her off the stage, if she is far away and below the stage coming back, throw turnips. if they connect a good 2 to 3 times you can send her packing. If she is above you, create a wall of turnips and throw them at her.them when she comes down slowly, hit her with a N-air or some else to keep her off, If he is hanging on the edge, Float over it and do a FC to D-air, then N-ar her for the kil (time it)

when you fight her on the ground, at times you have to be evasive with her. watch for missiles, its always good to have a turnip in your hand and follow up with a combo.. Use the FC techs, to take her out and make the match hard for her. Samus cant really do much about that. Also be patient when fighting her. Watch how the samus moves. watch how they come at you and all.

If getting comboed, DI away. Don't try to get a hit in before her. get some space then go into the fight. Back off when getting comboed
If samus throws you down, DI away from her cause she will hit you with a N-air
Move around alot, wave dash, Dashdance, and Use FC techs, try not to stay still so much. Confuse them in your movement
Watch for her missiles, if you have to retreat go ahead and get some space from her, then you think you got it, go back into the fight. nothing wrong with running away and getting space
Mix up your grabs and dash attacks.
Don't crouch cancel aginst samus too much, you will get owned for it hardcore.

If you guys want to help me answer questions, you're going to have to get more exact as to why the advice you're trying to give is effective or worth reading/trying.

Cort, I heard that PC is going over to your place and you guys are recording. If he plays Sheik at all, you should try messing it up with your CF on tape.

My main problem vs Sheik is my approach - as a general rule, my approach is terrible. I **** Sheiks that jump a lot (uair>uair>uair>knee, edgeguard, gg) but smart ones don't do that at all. Ground-based Sheik can **** everything I own with stupid tilts that combo me near death. I've been told by everyone to just camp and mess her up after she makes a mistake, and I know that's the answer.

But you're Cort so maybe you can do something that no one else even thought of before. You should probably just tape it for me. <3

Dash dancing into needles works well.

I'll get a bunch of different characters up this time, as well as more PC ****** me. XD

This sounds really dumb and all, but I have a problem with saving my 2nd jump. Like when I want to float I DJ then float instead of just floating. How can I get rid of this bad habit?

Another odd question. What would be a good level for a Peach/Luigi team against a double Fox?

My partner and I have used Peach/Luigi to some success. Luigi has a strong aerial game, so he would take the air while I take the ground. Marth and Sheik users basically nullify that team though...

Did you already go over the matchup with Shiek in this thread?
Yes. I keep forgetting to update the first post with all the good responses... I'm going to do that on Sunday or Monday most likely ~_~

I tend to mess up my dj/float whenever I'm "flailing" in the air, but I've gotten over that messing up habit because I wiggle out of flailing now (press left/right quickly until Peach stabilizes herself)

And Peach/Luigi? Uh... your guess is as good as mine. Fox completely destroys both of those characters. And rofl @ double Fox. ****^4

You can also avoid trying to float after dropping through a platform - you'll always burn a jump before floating if you do this.

How do you DI out of falcons many combos? each one is different, but is there a general way to escape?
DI away from uairs/nairs DI up for Knees at high %s...
is it better to DI with the C-stick than normal?
http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=60218

Learn how the c-stick works with DI.

General rule of thumb, DI perpendicular to your trajectory with the control stick. Most moves send away and up, so DI up and a little towards the stage.

DI Sheik slap/Falcon knee up since it just sends you away.

DI Fox usmash the way he's facing. Sheik uair the way you're moving horizontally or the way she's facing/moving horizontally.

It's better not to DI sometimes at very high %s, but the goal in general is to DI into the top right/top left "death corners" so you don't DI off the top or side.

(****, I'm gonna sound like I suck at this game lol)

I know about the wiggling to stop flailing, but how do you float after flailing?

I wiggle, get in an upright position, then I tilt upwards slowly, but is there an easier way? Usually I'll dj/float and kill myself XD.

Unless you tell me there's some magical way like holding jump while you're being knocked back and then wiggling out to auto float and keep your jump. holy crap this is sounding kinda smart to me. O_o I would go try it, but I don't have a gamecube at home. Plus I'm at school atm.

Also, how did you do at VLS, I don't go on the boards much and I haven't spoken much to the other quebecers. Was it fun?

EDIT: I'm tired.
