Has anyone else noticed/mentioned that the World was allowed 9 people vs the US's 8?

I watched it again earlier, and they don't subtract Leffen's 8 stocks before tagging in Amsah on the display, which then allowed for Capt. Jack to come in.

I think the world was just told to keep sending in players or something, but who was in charge of keeping track of stocks anyways?

The crew battle goes like this:

Jman vs Javi

Jman 1 stock vs Unknown

Axe vs Unknown 3 stock

Axe 2 stock vs Kirbykaze

Zhu vs Kirbykaze 1 stock

Zhu 3 Stock vs Ice

Mango vs Ice 1 stock

Mango 3 stock vs Armada

Hungrybox vs Armada 2 stock

Hungrybox 3 stock vs Kage

Hungrybox 1 stock vs Leffen

M2K vs Leffen 3 stock

M2K 3 stock vs Amsah

Hax vs Amsah 1 stock

Hax 3 stock vs Capt. Jack

PP vs Capt. Jack 3 stock

US: Jman Axe Zhu Mango HBox M2K Hax PP = 8 players

World: Javi Unknown KK Ice Armada Kage Leffen Amsah Capt. Jack = 9 players

What happened?

No, it was 8v8, they even both started with 32 stocks on the stream.

Back ups are simply people you can use on your roster. Each team had 2, but you could only use 8 people in total.

AFAIK, the USA crew decided to let the World sen in CJ as well for the hell of it, and because people wanted him to play.

You just watched all the matches and upon noticing this discrepancy failed to watch the parts in between the matches? Pretty sure they explain it in between matches. In fact I'm positive of this. They literally explain it right after Leffen v. M2K. USA grants the World an extra player for the sake of continuing shenanigans since by whatever point they decide to let Captain Jack come in it was basically a sealed deal anyway and would have required a Amsah to make a monstrously heroic comeback of legends to swing it. Granted, Amsah and comebacks have a storied relationship, but USA had reason to not be too worried about losing and adding Captain Jack helped keep the hype train rolling.

There's nothing deep or mysterious about it, it was just to try and keep the hype alive.

I just checked, it's a few seconds into the 58-minute mark. "USA granted the World a four stock courtesy." And then they talk about it for a while.

Respectfully, watching the video would have been to your benefit. Since they explain it right there. In the video. That you were watching. O.o

Yeah, we knew we'd win anyway and decided to let it happen for the hype. And CJ ended up being kind of **** against Falcon so it was pretty hype for a bit until PP just murdered him.

I skipped the downtimes in between matches. I didn't think we'd give them a 4 stock courtesy when they still had two players.

Thanks for clearing it up.

Yeah, it was agreed to let Captain Jack play because it would have been super unfortunate if he didn't get to do so.

I was hyped to see CJ play that I didn't even realize this little discrepancy.

You didn't even consider the possibility that it was mentioned in the downtime you skipped before making this thread? lol

I saw the whole thing live, I didn't feel like watching every single down time throughout all 16 matches to see if there somehow might be an explanation given by the commentators.

It was an exhibition match, and honestly no one minded it. US had clearly won the crew battle, and no one was going to dispute it. The important point was that several popular players from the US hadn't gotten to play, which was disappointing in and of itself, and Captain Jack is a legend.

It's easy to see malice in it, but I assure you if you were there, you knew the only motivation was hype.

Why is this new information? Didn't they mention on stream that they were sending in Captain Jack as an extra player...because it was Captain Jack?

what a great crew battle

=D
Lmfao

Was it Captain Jack's DK that cargo-upthrew(?) the Marth into Great Bay's top platform from below? If so, someone needs to post that game in this thread and/or the 'Floaties need a counter pick stage' thread, because I can't find it and it's hilarious
