There will be a top 16 and a Amature Top 8 Brackets for Wii U and Melee this weekend. We will also focous on getting it more spacious and an extra few set-ups going for everybody along with streaming Top 8 for Wii U and Melee along with some PM.

Doubles up first in the MORNING @10:00 followed by Singles @12:00

We had a great day today in the PM bracket, with 23 entrants which was quite large considering the small overall turnout at the tournament, props to you guys! There was 6 pools that progressed into a top 12. All those below 9th in the bracket below are those who didn't make it out of pools.

Super Smash Bros Wii U Fundraiser

STARLIGHT WEEK starts on May 1st and EB Games World Square is hoping to raise at least $1000 for sick kids.

To do this we will be hosting an awesome Super Smash Bros tournament (Wii U) from 6pm until 9pm Friday, May 6th in the EB GAMES store at World Square.

THIS IS AN ALL AGES EVENT.
- Entry to the competition is a $5 donation to the Starlight Foundation
- No alcohol or drugs are to be consumed on the premises
- No amiibos are to be used during the tournament.

There will be prizes for the top 3 competitors, a door prize and more to come if we can rally up enough attendees. Pizza, snacks and drinks (no alcohol) will be provided in store!

Smash at YSB is going to be a regular thing in addition to the usual SGT series now. With regards to the pre-registration, I'm not entirely sure on the specifics of it quite yet myself, though I'll probably leave a little note here once I figure out what the deal is.

Also, since I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else yet: try to keep the last weekend of August free.

Sydney Smash Feedback Questionnaire

Everyone who has attended a Sydney Smash event or is interested in regularly attending is welcome to take the survey, even those travelling from areas outside of Sydney (e.g. Wollongong, Newcastle). All feedback is appreciated and fully anonymous, though do make an effort to keep it constructive. Even if you hate our guts, it'd be helpful to know why so we can potentially improve the tournament experience for everyone, and maybe downgrade your hate from our guts to something like our faces instead.

Stay tuned for actual tournament dates! Though I could probably tell you now, the next York Street Battles will most likely take place on June 25th (they occur monthly on the last Saturday of each month).

Sydney Smash is branching out some more, and now we're going to be a part of the console gaming section of the upcoming ELEAGUE.gg LAN. You'll have to register online to enter (do so here), and online registration will be open all the way until the event actually starts. There will of course be plenty of other things going on around the venue, not just Smash, and I do believe you will have to buy separate tickets to participate in other events, but I'm not too sure on that one at the moment. If you decide to take part in other events, do your best not to hold up any tournaments you're participating in!

Unfortunately, there will be no SGT on this Sunday (the 12th), and it's unlikely there will be one the following Sunday (the 19th) due to university exam periods. YSB should be happening on the 25th of this month, I'll make another post when the Facebook event goes up.

Pre-registration works the same as last time: send the unfortunately-named Henry Sham a cool 15.00 AUD using the PayPal.Me link, turn up at the main desk on the day and tell them your name (set up a PayPal account and link your bank account to it if you don't want to lose money to PayPal fees). Registration for each individual bracket still occurs on the day, so you'll still need cash to enter those.

UTS is currently undergoing some renovations (Building 2 is being demolished, to be redesigned), and the area booked for the usual SGT events as well as the room used to store equipment used at those events are no longer available. As a result, the SGT series is on hold for an as of yet unknown amount of time.
