Hey guys. I'm from Newcastle myself. I haven't been playing very long, and I'm not really a serious player or anything but yeah, hey.

I guess I should post my mains or something.

SSB64: MAIN: Link, 2ND: Mario
Melee: I only ever play Melee with friends, so I don't have one :/
Brawl: MAIN: Mario, 2ND: Falco, Sheik, Mr. Game & Watch

Sweet. We've got a few active smashers around Newcastle, as well as a few from Maitland.

Somebody host a meet soon, so we can meet Frisky.

Eh, I'd rather not go to a meet. Nothing against you guys but I'm not really into meeting people from the internet. That and I don't really have the time between school, work and other stuff.

Lol Frisky, this community is primarily based on meeting up at tournaments and stuff. Your location of newcastle doesn't matter at all in this sense. And we're not exactly a wifi community.

I assume you're a youngun, so if it's an issue with your parents I'm sure one of many responsible adults/senior members would be happy to talk to them.
People like Andrew (Zero) or Sam (S.D), or myself (Jean-Paul; but I'm in Sydney so w/e) can try to alleviate yours and your parent's fears.

Hullo Frisky

It's been awhile since we've had a new person :)

Regardless of how you choose to play the game, I hope you enjoy your time on smashboards :D

We may be "from the internet", but we're generally very normal people. The community has a mix of athletes, university / high school students, martial artists, typical gamers, and so on.

We all have lives outside of smash brothers. There's no need to be concerned about meeting anyone from this site simply because we are "from the internet".

It is understandable that people would have reservations in going to a meet with people they have never met in real life. For all you know we could be a bunch of 50 year old men or something equally creepy.

If you look at any of the photos taken at tournaments you will see that we are real people. If this is your concern I recommend keeping an eye out for the next newcastle tournament and then going there on the day to check us out. If from outside we look creepy then you can happily walk away without us ever knowing you were going to come along.

But that's not necessary because it's a friendly and often fairly attractive community here :)

Enjoy your stay.

He sure is :)

We should get the photo with D0N from BOOST 6 and label all of us.

And Welcome to Hunter Valley Smash, Frisky.

Haircuits normally look better after a few days since the hair grows a bit and it doesn't look as cut. At least that's what I've found since I've started getting "regular" haircuts.

Uuuuuugh my second haircut of 09 felt like that too. I hated it :(

I should go for permanent straightening but that's $9000, soo much money.

Sup Frisky?!

I can safely say that i have come from the exact same area as you in terms of smash. I grew up only versing my brothers... so I pretty much still don't know what a wavedash is! XD I never even knew there was a competitive smash scene until after Brawl arrived...

Ever since Brawl tho, I've gotten in on the act and managed to convince my parents that it isn't evil and that these people aren't rapists out to get me... OR ARE THEY?!?!?!?!

Anyway, like Toby says, we're just normal people who enjoy a good smash every now and then.

So welcome to the group!

@ Andrew: Seriously, is that Rin from FSN? It's driving me crazy and I need to know!

Yeah, you guys all seem awesome, but I play brawl IRL mostly with friends from school and whatnot. Most definitely gonna check out the next Newcastle based competition though.

I also have the slightest suspicion that I know one or two of you >_>

Newcastle based competition...

This calls for a tournament!

Shame I can't host our Smash Valley series since I'm leaving for UNSW....

SUMMONER CONTINUE THE LEGACY

In the meantime, Alex you should host a meet. Tim hosted the meet where we met you and now you can host the meet where we meet Frisky :p . And Frisky should bring his friends :)

This year the cutoff was 90.81 for Computer Engineering/Science. I got 84.95 and Summoner got 78.blah blah so there was a pretty generous leeway there. Rural students get lots of consideration :)

WELCOME FRisky, and no that last question wasn't the slightest off topic

Edit: I live in Jesmond which isn't too far from you i guess. And you would go a long way to find a nicer bunch of people than these guys: ). We're actually REAL people: )

Oh that's awesome. I'm hoping to get into medicine but the way I'm going, I can't see it happening :/

Haha, well I'm sure there are many alternative ways into medicine. You'd best ask Isthattim!? (another guy in our scene, doing his Masters in a medical subject) about that.

Personally I can't stand medicine, or at least general practice. Sick people are blegh. I'd be pretty cool with a research job though.

But I hate people so I'm going for that in Comp Sci.

(I'm actually pretty friendly despite not being a people person. Just ask anyone :D )

Well, if the HVSmash legacy is being handed on to Summoner than I offer me sword in allegance to him! Let my blade cut you a path to the future, etc! Or some other irrelavant heroic speech...

basically, I'll do what I can to support the future of HVSmash under Summoner's lead.
