tibor mentioned that instead of sponsoring an international, we should sponsor our own good players, or players (such as sd <3) who have to pay heaps to come. i reckon this is an awesome idea, personally.
Yeah, that was a great idea. I definitely support this.

Perhaps we should start our own "good player fund".

We raised what, $1300 for M2K to come here? That's like enough for 10 people to go to Melbourne. Or maybe less, as they'll need accomodation... Dunno, just guess atm!

Beerfest would be an amazing tournament title.

For the out of staters, instead of saying to ur friends and family 'I'm flying down to melbourne for _______. It's a smash bros. tournament' you can say 'i'm going to melbourne for beerfest' enough said. You won't sound as douchey then. I didn't tell anyone i was going to melbourne for robocop. My old boy would probably cut my head off. I just said it was for a mate's 21st which is kinda was.

It's such an inspirational movie. It's just dudes training for a beer drinking competition. We can go from 'i don't feel like drinking' to LGFS just from watching the opening scene. Some dude is sinking beers on his death bed. SO ACCEPTABLE!

Seriously, i know i've said this alot oldman but if i was rich, i would employ you and ranga to play dorf dittos with me full-time and train to be unbelievable beer-drinkers.

Ashaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamed.
You can't just say: "Nah, I'm not ashamed, I just don't tell people (because I don't want them to know, i.e I'm ashamed of/uncomfortable with (people knowing about) it)."
Fail.

To each their own. I can understand.
Social expectations etc.

I guess I'm fortunate. Smash is something that I even have on my resume.
It's not something I really share with my parents, but it's clear to them what I am travelling for when I do.

I just think that if something like this is that important to you, that you'd be willing to travel for it.
You don't want to go telling everyone that you do. But the closest people to you should accept it.

I don't think people should have to justify their desire to travel for smash either. I don't think they should "feel nerdy," although it might be inevitable lol, so it depends on your background/social life/expectations. I think it's commendable that people can be honest with themselves to say they want to travel for the tournament and that's about it. I try to get more out of my trips if I can, because I mean why not right? But the tournament is always what I'm there for (If it's the primary motivation which it has been).

blah.

The great thing about smash, is it can put people from all kinds of different social and ethnic backgrounds together.

Just say I'm going for a tournament. :D
Or gaming.
Or a gaming tournament.
Don't have to say Smash, I'd rather say I was playing in Halo or CS or TF2 or something along those lines than saying I'm going for a SMASH tournament.
I still don't tell people I play Smash, lol, the only time they ever find out is if someone else tells them or if they go searching for me somewhere, like stalking freaks.
...
Seriously, that's just creepy.

My dad loves me competing. He said if I win a national/major, he'll sponsor me to go to a tournament in America. He's weird...

ZXV has the best dad.

Also, I outright tell everyone what I do for Smash; randoms are always compelled to ask. Protip ~ if you're cool enough, you can convince others that playing Smash is cool, since you are automatically cooler than they are.

I got my job because I told all the bureaucrats the **** I do lol

People surprise you - I've only had about two or three people rip on me for playing smash, and even then one of them actually showed up at the next tournament XD

Stop living in the closet and be proud of your smashing.

You're a sell out.
Jk.
Sorry. The setup was there, I just couldn't resist. <3 Hater.

I tell everyone what I do. Like Vyse and Cao, I put it on my resume. I got where I am today because I have the utmost confidence in myself. I have people at the office asking about Couch Warriors all the time.

See the bad mofo with the sweet blonde babe in the Brawl crew battle shot? That's me. As corny as it sounds, be yourself. And be comfortable with yourself. Everything will just fall into place.

Be careful guys - Disney might sue you for plagiarism. Mickey might have a friendly smile, but you mess with his profits and he will **** you up.
