Non-dragon Metroid character roles

Kraid: If Ridley can make it in, why not Kraid? He was a pretty awesome boss from Super Metroid (arguably the best installment in the series). Also, he appeared in Melee as a stage element in Brinstar Depths. This shows that Sakurai and friends know him. However, his level of popularity is nowhere the level of Ridley, which hurts his chances greatly (we all know Ridley's chances are nearly only caused by popularity). I think he would be a good Subspace boss, since it was his original role to being with, and he'd fin into the storyline just fine. Verdict: Boss

Apart from the fact that he is the second most recurring character in the Metroid series, is Samus's long time rival, has roots with Samus even when she was a child, has almost final boss status and is the second most important character in the Metroid series, being responsible for many major plot twists.

So yhea popularity is aaaaaalllllll he has.

Exactly, so the "Dark Samus" in that pic is still just Samus. Besides, the Phazon suit is Samus's "Dark" alt..

Well, basically, you fight Metroid Prime, and once it's beaten, it transforms into Dark Samus. That could also be how you unlock her

Thought I'd point out that Mother Brain first appeared in Metroid on the NES. I would know, I still can't beat her.

But, that being said, Dark Samus is the only one with even a small chance of entry into Brawl.

wow....you're serious, aren't you? anybody with one eye and half a brain can tell that those are two different color schemes, despite having the same icon. the "dark" samus is going to have to have one of samus's icons, unless you're implying that "Shadow Samus" is going to be a separate character.

and for the record, Dark Samus is blue, not black.

Because, unlike Ridley, Kraid doesn't have the body of a figther, it's the size of a mountain, and i know size doesn't matter wich brings me to my next point, Ridley has been the size of a common Pirate in the mangas, Ridley has changed sizes so many times it's not even funy, and he's still Ridley, there's no problem with making him smaller.

However, Kraid, it's charm it's that it's a gigantic pile of green. Downsizing him, would just make him... weird. Many people think the same about Ridley, so maybe i just don't have enough imagination to see Kraid as a playable character, also, have you seen his body? unlike Bowser, Kraid's arms are small, same with his "legs". Also, making him a PC would make him incredibly slow.

There are only 3 viable metroid Characters, Ridley, Dark Samus and Silux.

Psh, you aren't the only ones. I've wanted Ridley to be in the game since Melee, and support Dark Samus too. Ridley is my #1 most wanted and Dark Samus is #4 (now that Pikmin & Olimar are confirmed). And perhaps I know more about Metroid Prime (the game) than most people here.

Aye, for Kraid being big is very integral to who hi is, not so much for riddles.

I agree, the only other playable characters should be ridley and Dark Samus. Kraid would make a great boss. Due to his shear size he could pretty much be the stage, Imagine having to jump all over the boss and get to his "weak point" to do damage.

Don't agree with that... But good analysis on the other parts.. I don't know much about Metroid and am not sure if other could make it in. Though there apparently is room for more if you don't count ZSS as another character.

Agreed. A Metroid fan shouldn't support a minor character from the worst game (by far) of the series. I'd prefer to have MotherBrain as playable (it's the third most important character, afterall...).

Samus and Ridley should be the only playable charactes. If we're lucky, Dark Samus too.
MotherBrain and Metroid Prime as bosses, and maybe Kraid.

Hunters... stickers. If they're lucky.

yes, i know he was in a crappy game. yes, he isn't that popular. however, he appeared on the poll, and now that dark samus is dead, the role of non-dragon adversary seemingly belongs to him. dont believe me? check the mp3 100% completion video on youtube, and compare the ship with the delano 7. yes, i know you've probably seen it after beating the game, just a little reminder. he will most likely be an at, but he could be a character.
