to be honest I dont have an opinion of 1 stock yet. seems fun, but its a pretty drastic change from what people are used to. seems like it might scare more people away then bring in.

You should try to do some form of one stock stuff at the Juice tourney Doom. The main event should still be 3 stock for now though.

I would definitely be using a ton of Squirtle.

Probably just gonna make the main event 3 and have a $5 1 stock side tournament.

WHERE AM I
Read what I said please.

With experimental rulesets you can pretty much not do those things that bother you or whoever else.

You should read about the experimental ruleset thing. I'll try to find it.

Found it:

It doesn't make much sense to me but if you're able to run a tourney with your own rules and a sticky then why not do this.
I'm way too stubborn to ask for their approval. I was fine without them last time, I'd be more than fine without them again.

1 stock looks hype but won't catch on.

I'm not sold on 1 stock yet, the only big thing is pokemon trainer imo

i find 2 to be a much better balance of 1 and 3

I can see 2 stocks as well 1 stocks is just too short and really takes the game to an extreme I feel will not catch on.

the comeback factor is really unique and cool to smash, and 1 stock completely ruins it. 2 stocks hampers it, but it's still there
also it's just so stop and go, it really kills the flow between matches.

I think that is what makes smash great. The ability to come back from a mistake or two and make a match great. Yea it will not happen with all matches but when it does its amazing. I think the game is fine as is. Yea sometimes it is slow but that is something that happens. It can be a catch-22 ( I think LOL )

I'm the boyfriend of the female Pokemon player in question in this thread. I was linked here by someone and after reading the particle posts about it, I felt the need to respond.

First I'll apologize for my remarks. I was heated at the time, but obviously that's not excuse. But I do apologize for that.

Secondly, I'd like to explain the entirety of the events and hope to shed some light on what happened. As the battle began, I pulled up a chair next to the VVV player here across the table from my girlfriend who was playing. It was an almost simultaneous seating of myself and Chibo, but I suppose I should've sat on the other side.

As the battle was to begin, Mooty does what she does in all live events, writes the opponent's Pokemon names on the notepad in her phone. Anyone who attended the event and saw her play can know this to be true. Some people use pencil and paper while she uses the notepad app in her phone.

Now the controversy begins as I'm on my phone texting a close friend of mine about a particularly embarrassing purchase I had made at shop in Tenafly as well as looking up my bank account information using an app to make sure the funds from the purchase had carried over so I could figure out my actual balance. I was staying at a hotel and wanted to make sure I didn't overdraft my account either getting gas or ordering food.

When the accusations came down on me, I was hesitant to show my phone to the Main Judge(Dave) for the reasons listed above. Now, was it the best move on my part? Of course not, it was actually the incriminating move. I wasn't going to hand my phone to someone who I did not know very well and have him privvy to my bank info as well as something a bit personal. Now, I could've very well done something different in those circumstances, but that was all my fault.

As Dave took me aside, he did in fact check my phone and did not see any evidence(since I assume both of you will be at the next event, you are free to ask him about it), however, if I were to go back and show Chibo my phone, I assumed he would have just said I deleted them. I was heated, however, at the accusations of cheating and I was not in any proper state of mind for a reasonable discussion at the time.

I don't know if either you, Chibo, or Dave asked Mooty to see her phone, but I'll assume none of you did since the accusations still stand. Now, if you were to look at the youtube channel that one of you happened to be commenting on, you'll see that she finished in the quarter finals of an invite only Machinima tourney as well as in the finals of a 512 single elimination cash tourney of Wilechase's, another Youtuber. She has also peaked on the second page of both the PO server's OU ladder as well as the Smogon server's OU ladder. Her skill is not in question, but defeating her only adds to the already incriminating evidence against her and I.

I'm really hoping this will at least help clear our names, but you don't believe me, you can just ask the Main Judge(Dave) who was in charge of everything.

I also hope we can have a mature discussion about this(I, for one, am guilty of the contrary and I apologize again for that), and I would really love for this whole thing to be resolved.

I hope everyone here has a great day and I hope that this whole thing can be solved and I do apologize for the longer sized message.

Well IMO you should just talk to Chibo about it. If you need his info it is on his UserName or I can give it to you on my aim ( lightxdream ).

Interesting read m4gnitude. Just be sure not to sit in a position where you could be accused of cheating again. Whether you were cheating or not, it just doesn't seem like a good place to be sitting from what I hear. Situation isn't a big deal to me. Hope your gf does good at the next one, still kind surprised she lost to Chibo. Never thought he was that good at Pokemon lol.

I'm cool with talking civil, and glad you did this. All of the remarks from myself and friends just came about from you acting ridiculous at the venue and then trash talking me on your Xat page, and screenshots of you doing so were posted in various places.

I understand everything you said, but I don't know if I'm convinced yet. I want to believe that you wouldn't, and I'm basically down to like agree to disagree in a calm manner for now, but look at it from my point of view:

When I had first thought I noticed you doing it, I took note of it more carefully, but tried to make it look like I wasn't watching you. Every single turn Mooty always chose her move after me, even if I took a while. You would put your phone face down on the table when it wasn't our turn to pick, and pick it up as soon as it was. You would text on your phone literally as I was making each move. One of the last times before I went to talk to Dave I even tried to basically trick you a bit, by hitting fight, watch you type a word or something, then go back a menu, to which you changed something, then I hit switch, then back a menu, then fight, then switch, like 4 or 5 times in a row and in every menu switch I did you looked directly at me and changed the message on your phone. And in that one turn I had of taking a very long time to choose, Mooty still hadn't selected her move until after a little after mine.

Then gameplay wise, while you were sitting at the table, every single move she did was just about flawless. She was making reads that idk how she could have done them, even when I tried to do slightly more weird/random options people wouldn't consider. As soon as you went away though, she completely fell apart. Her entire game style was different, she didn't switch predicatively well at all, and the game quickly shifted from her advantage so fairly well in my advantage, which is why I chose not to restart when Dave asked me if I wanted to.

And then the way you guys acted, does not look well at all. After the event Mooty straight up lied about it. On her Tumblr she said that she left early during the second tournament because of being sick, not mentioning me at all - despite me beating her and finishing the match. Second, which you kind of explained with the embarrassing purchase, when Dave came over to ask about what was going on, you literally stared at your phone and didn't turn your face to either one of us talking to you and didn't say a word as you were using an app I was sure you weren't using before. I did suggest to Dave he could look at Mooty's phone, but he either didn't really listen to me or just didn't follow up with it.

I wouldn't be so adamant about it if I wasn't so sure, because all of what I said here is incredibly convincing to me. But since you replied to me in a calm manner here, I'm down with agreeing to disagree or whatever.

lmao why does everyone say this

I would have made it into the money two KOTC's ago, but the way they do brackets is completely wrong <_<
I beat two opponents in the final 16 person bracket, and somehow got 5th, not top 4???
I got 3rd in the second tournament last time (but that was top 2 payout since it only had like 16 entrants or something)
And I didn't make it into bracket at the first tournament last time, even though I tied with tons of players that did, the way they do tie breakers or swiss pools in general doesn't make sense.

Son! You got smalithered in that Pokemon tournament you held a couple months ago that I entered. I forgot what place you got, maybe 3rd but I thought you would get first.

I dunno if those smash players were beast at Pokemon or not, but I thought they were randoms so I thought you were pretty good but not that good.

o lmao the SWF tourney. Pffffftttt
I don't practice at all for those tbh. I either use them for practice or just for fun since they have no prizes. 2 KOTCs ago, where I got 5th place but should have had 4th out of 40ish entrants I practiced for a couple of weeks or so, and this one yesterday I practiced like a week for.

Chimpakt still the real pokemon master of NJ tho.
4-0 in his pokemon pool.
:phone:
Get outta here lol. I went 3-1, and that was with running into the only person in the entire venue I didn't want to play, a crazy good player from NY I'm sorta friends with that I've never been able to beat.

I wasn't reading her tumblr but we did leave the event early because she wasn't feeling well at all, nor was another member of our group. We're thinking undercooked food which we ordered there, but since I had food there as well as others, we're not sure it was that...but that's neither here nor there.

The game was 5 moves in IIRC so to say someone fell apart after that is a bit naive to the game. I can link you to a clip(which I'll find) of a youtuber by the name of TonyFlygon making exact predictions(of metal bursts, toxics) and making the exactly correct move, yet still losing the match. Just made some misplays which cost him.

Her team wasn't well put together, as it was done the night before and wasn't prepared for a CMReuiniclus. Now it's probably her fault for not waiting for that but I can assure all of you here that she is an above average player.

I understand my shifty behavior, I tried to justify that above but trust me, I can completely see where I acted incorrectly. At the time, I was too afraid of being embarresed or possibly have Dave or you take a peek at my bank account(probably an irrational fear but that was the first screen on it.

I suppose we could agree to disagree, as it's honestly your word against mine, but I know from experience that her skill(as well as yours, you can't make it to the semi-finals from benig bad) is above average.

I'm a heated person, and when faced with an accusation like that, I can't say I take it well, but that's not your fault and I apologize for the way I acted.

If you are at the next event, I'd like to have the chance to apolgize face to face and shake your hand to signify a truce, persay, if you'd be up for that.

Who knows, maybe we could even have a laugh about the whole event within the next week, lol
