top 15

10ranking'sbackup
The combined rankings seems more appropriate at top 15 due to the sizes of this region. I really don't care either way, but in fairness we do have a much larger region than MD/VA
Inui kinda has a point thought, top 10 for 2 regions is dumb. Will accomplishment are amazing.
I also like top 15 much better, this region is far too strong for a top 10 combined list.

Also, to be fair, he always argued against the combined list since its original proposal.
Damn, you all posted that within like 2 min LOL.

Anyway, to the quotes: I feel top 10 is perfectly fine.

For one, if you extend it to top 15 you get the same results as if 2 states were in top 10, which is there will be people who shouldnt have made it to begin with, making it to the rankings. That is not my main concern though. My main issue is that you guys feel that way because it was the standard for so long. I love Will (No homo), but as a person, I wouldn't cater to someone and extend the list just because he barely missed it, and we all know he is good. This should be incentive for next season to do even better then just "Good". Putting it to 15 just takes the actual struggle out of it, and results into the same fate as we had it before.

I wouldn't mind it being top 15, but that wasn't what we discussed.

Also I love it when we compare wins and loses and get *****ed at lol.

Close this thread again please before more drama

You combined the rankings to make it more competitive. Making it 15 still accomplishes that. Combining 2 fully functional regions into 1 means you should make it possible to get ranked (although not accidentally). A top 10 for 2 fully functional/**** regions is kinda ridiculous. Make it top 15.

What function? The NY scene was depleting until this happened. This can't be denied. Outside of Polybrawl and the few random "Gauntlets" Wes hosts, what tournaments goes on? Yes, they have skillful players, but skill within a scene that does not attempt to demonstrate the skill due to lack of tournaments is almost the same as not having a scene.

Anyone can make top 10 in nj/ny as long as u try and bust ur *** to improvement, I wasn't so good last season but the "top 10 nj/ny" idea was inspirational for me and I worked on improving so I'd like to keep it like that, like this is my first time getting ranked lol and that should prove my point that anyone else can do it, the moment u put in the work and practice, It will just come to you lol, I promise to everyone who thinks top 10 is impossible, if ppl think otherwise? **** u

LI biweeklies? Viridian was always on the border of nj/ny. Anyway, since they have so many skillful players, shouldnt that be more of an incentive to up it 15? You guys can't be that lazy .

pwii your last sentence made your entire post irrelevant.

Top 15 helps balance the ridiculous amount of difficulty added by combining the two states. Easiness of getting ranked is most likely not what brought down NY's activity, lol...they still only had one event this entire season, which was Poly.

Edit: and a couple small tourneys

actually, yeah, keep top 10, for pwii's reasons.

Also, thinking about it, considering the top 7 for this PR consists of plain **** players, even getting that 8-10 looks great, and considering players like will get honorable mention, it really is a great motivation to make the top 10.

You mean the LI weeklies that just started happening?

And VC still being in Jersey, just being convenient for NY players to travel too?

And No, that is not an incentive to increase it to top 15. In fact, that is more of an incentive to keep it at 10. The lazy thing to do would be to increase it just to show "Oh, this person just missed top 10, lets go to 15 so we can show off this person!" Fight for the 10 spot, and if you miss it, do better next time. THAT is the incentive.

no need to whine about brendan. if you think you did good, and the panelists are good (iffy about a few) then you should secure a spot.

Top 15 is ********...

People fight to get put on the rankings right?

And people also want to get better... right?

The best way is to make it hard to get ranked. I don't want people going around saying "Oh im ranked 14 in NY/NJ" and be satisfied with 14th place...

Make it so hard so people show blood sweat and tears and can actually stack up against big names in other regions.

the thing is anti, theres never really been a power rankings where everyone was ridiculously strong. theres always like 2 or 3 new and up and coming players. even socal has it that way and look how strong they are

yet again, i like the motivation factor but itd be cool if not one got sad over like will getting national level wins but not getting ranked + he was extremely active as always this season. naaah mean?

Exactly plus I'm working my *** off to try to get PR in NY but since I dont go to many tournaments because I have no money for multiple events. I'll have to work harder in order to get noticed.

Anti makes a point with all this talk of blood and tears. I also stopped caring. Starcraft2 beckons me!

Also, pokemon rankings are dumb.

:089:_128 would approve though.

I see where your coming from, And i would be stoked as hell if Will got ranked (homie) but we should be motivated to be even BETTER than Socal.

The first power ranking where everyone on the list where everyone is ridiculously strong? I think it gives us more hype and a scarier region to visit overall.

But I think it is the bonus of it getting so hard that makes this more worthwhile. Will barely missed it, but lets say he goes 2x has hard next season, and gets like ranked 5th or something, him as a player to sit with all the others on that kind of level would just prove that he didn't just make it, but he is one of the best who did it.

I agree with you but like ksizl4life said, everyone who is being ranked is unbelievably strong. I mean it definitely would bring out more people to compete on a higher level however people like Will would definitely get screwed over.

Analogy time!

Look @ Michael Jordan, got cut from his high school basketball team, then went onto becoming one of the best basketball players of all time.

Will could do the same.

We may be having a redicussion tomorrow night, just a heads up panelists. This is mainly for if we decide to do a top 15.

Maybe, but at the same time it can go opposite.

I completely didn't give a crap about getting ranked since it looked too hard plus I knew I wouldn't be going to a tourney every weekend to get enough good wins.

Minty and I got school *****.

It was a struggle for the players that actually tried though.

Guys, not being on the PR doesn't mean you suddenly become a worse player. Everyone will still know how **** you are. If Will doesn't make it, he doesn't automatically become some free DK. He's still Will. He'll still **** people up.

I understand that it's cool to be ranked and it's a major accomplishment, and that we probably could pull off a decent top 15, but I'd rather have a ridiculous top 10 than a ridiculous top 10 + 5 others. I feel like the list could possibly drop off at the lower end of the 15, and it's not as impressive that way. If we had one or two more amazing players, I'd support the top 15 idea, but we don't.

Keitaro, if you lose motivation then you aren't worthy of being known by getting power ranked... lol

EDIT : There's always going to be other upcoming players that's trying to be on that top 10 level and are actually motivated and have potential that can do so (TonyT)

So if he actually gets ranked he can be congratulated and receive 10x more hype then just being #15 at the end of the list where everyone knows that 10-15 is a spot for the players that didn't completely wreck **** that season.

with what delta said, maybe the panel can discuss among themselves, a tentative top 15 and see how it looks. if it looks weak at the end of the list then keep it a top 10. just a thought. idk how this crap works so forgive me if that idea sounded dumb.

also, my motivation this season was to not be looked at as an easy win. I think I accomplished that so now for next season I will try to be ranked. no matter what the list is, top 10 or 15. I think my first win will be Anti cuz he is probably the worst player I have ever seen and has worse tech skill than a kid with no hands. <3

Redicussing it is not an issue at all. But in short, think of it this way, cause if it happens this is what it is going to look like:

Normal top 10

Then will

Then people from the honor mention list.
