"Some" not having a job is quite the understatement...

Anyways, I've participated enough in this debate over money matches so many times that I am bored of it, and Keitaro and Doom forgot not only once, but twice, that I am supposed to be on the panel and they didn't do anything to rectify that, so whatever.

isn't that why its not weighed the same as a tournament match?

To smashers, $5.00 is a good deal of money, heck, some of us freak out if a venue is $10.00 when we believe it should be $5.00. Some of us don't have a job so we don't get much money, others go to tourneys with ~$15.00 after entering singles or just completely avoid entering a bracket and prefer to just play friendliesin order to save money. We are cheap, that $5.00 can be enough money to buy our food for that day (If we don't actually make a decent profit that day). This isn't the MVC2 or SSF$ community, none of us will even entertain the thought of a $15,000 MM, most people don't' even want to MM for more than $2.00 or $3.00 unless they are confident they will win.
To the best of my knowledge they DO count the same as tourny matches, unless I'm mistaken.

Venue fee costs matter to me due to the quality of the venue. I get annoyed with a $10 venue fee if it isn't worth it. KTAR 4 I had no issues. The JC venue is not worth it. Theres a difference fighting over money in the game and judging the quality of how you spend it

I can't recall when, but there was definitely somewhere in the previous NJ PRs that stated MMs do count towards rankings, but not as much as a tournament set

Your right about the venue fees (GT venue comes to mind), but the fact is, there are people here who fight and argue adamantly if the venue is $5.00 more than what they think its worth. If $5.00 wasn't so important to smashers, they wouldn't become so salty about it.

Then again, who gives a ****? We have so many heavy hitters that a money match shouldn't cause a drastic change in rankings. Atomsk, Nairo, Anti, ADHD, vVvinnie, Will, etc. I'm going by memory and I don't know how active everyone has been.

I was referring to hating on them for rankings purposes, home-monster. Most other communities would think you are the absurd one. Lord Knight has returned to verify this several times and Rigel will say so too.
cool story, suicidal bro.

and lmao at calling me home monster. yeah i don't go to tourneys but i suppose that automatically assumes i'm home all the time? well i guess thats a better choice to do than driving around thinking to myself "f*ck, if zucco doesnt become friends with me, im gonna ram into that wall over there at 80 mph instead of picking up my mom from work!" Good day sir.

I am curious as to how a vicious and mean person like ksizzle that uses personal information to attack people often for the sole purpose of hurting someone avoids a permanent ban. You'd figure what he does would be a tad worse than image spam at the very least. Oh well.

Thankfully my life has too much meaning to give a crap about what people like him think.

@ Chibo: I don't see a reason atm for NJ/NY to finish the week after VC9 instead of the week ending with VC9. Is there a tourney after VC9?

Yea, Mav is hosting a tourney in state college that weekend. idk if NJ plans to attend or not (why not i guess), but PA would like to include that weekend in this season of rankings since it will give like 3+ players that live around state college a third tournament this season to make them elligible for rankings

I believe the last tourney of last season was MLG Dallas which was on November 6th. Any tourney after that weekend counts for this season (I can't remember at all what tourney was the week after November 6th).

I'm pretty sure no one from NJ will be heading there Chibo. There isn't much of a reason to extend our season that far unless there is a tourney that NJ/NY would like to go to :(

To be fair, ending it one week after VC9 makes a 13 week season. 13 * 4 = 52, which is one day short of one year, so it would actually make a lot of sense to end it February 5th. There are four actual seasons, so having the panel seasons be of equal length is fine.

if no one in njny is going to a tourney on feb 5th, then there's no reason not to end the season then also
pa could use it, and keeping in sync is nice

we could even do like a big atl north ranking after this period as well with njnypamdva (ne?) lists if were all done on that weekend

oh ok.

that does not answer the question though.

if a tourney has tied placings and points allowed for future tourneys and no money involved, how does the win weigh?

I would be inclined to say it should count just as much as a tournament match, especially if pools do. Pools contribute to seeding for a future bracket, as do the points in the ranbat system--the 5th/6th tiebreaker match also involves money.
