It just makes so much sense for Wolf to return. He's hardly even a clone and he balances out the Star Fox trio perfectly as the 'heavy weight'. His specials are pretty much already programed in Fox. And there's a new Star Fox game coming.

I dunno, I'm still expecting him pre-ballot. He's the only remaining vet that feels like he's missing, and I feel like Sakurai would feel the same way in some respect.

He's definitely the biggest hole in the roster to me, too.

Then again, he was the biggest hole in the roster to me even before Lucas came back.

Despite my want for him back just for a complete roster, I always feel like he was kinda expendable as a fighter. He could either stay or go.

While he had advantages over the likes of &, he was probably a low priority character and wasn't super highly requested back like &.

I feel like him being cut from the game NOW is hurtful due to & being back but is ignored.

Actually, Wolf's demand was higher than Roy's from what I can tell, and he was pretty neck and neck with Lucas. Snake is on the same level as them, too.

I don't think popularity is what led to Roy being brought back before Wolf; the New Content stream implied that Lucas and Roy were chosen in DLC Pack 2 to bring back a character from both Brawl and Melee. Roy was by far the most popular Melee cut after Mewtwo.

To me, Wolf as a cut to the roster kind of hurt -_-. He seemed like a very unique fighter and was vastly different from Fox or Falco. He's not even considered a clone! It would make so much sense for him to make a return. I personally do think that he will, but it just seems odd to me that it's taking this long. Maybe he will get revealed in the next Direct, maybe not. We'll really just have to wait and see.

The more stuff I hear about Smash 64, I believe that it was just a proof of concept and Melee was real experience since it brought in everything from Arcade, Game & Watch handhelds, NES, SNES and N64.

Also I still believe HAL has some insane balance that we just easily put on Sakurai. I mean Kirby has one rep in Melee but 3 damn stages that he tied up with Mario & Donkey Kong. It's hilarious how has more stages than &. Although that latter has some hint of bias due to the connection with HAL and Creatures, inc

Smash 64 -> Proof of concept
Melee -> Expansion
Brawl -> Expansion, going back to the roots of being an accessible fighter
Smash 4 Wii U -> Expansion, finding a balance between Melee and Brawl.

I've definitely seen this idea brought up before.

Dixie seems fairly plausible. I'm not really "expecting" any specific newcomers at this time, but if I were, Dixie would probably be at the top of the list.

Toon Zelda/Tetra seem a lot more iffy. It's likely that they would have worked like Zelda/Sheik did in Melee and Brawl, but that would make them two completely separate fighters now. Tetra isn't completely dead in the water if we count Hyrule Warriors, and Toon Zelda still gets used in the handheld games, but I'm just not sure if I can see Sakurai adding them in now when the ballot and "fanservice" is supposed to be the deciding factor; no matter what audience you poll, I can't see these two ranking very highly.

It was just a comment I wanted to post.

About his question, yeah, that would be really cool, except if Bandana Dee is not DLC at all, I would sacrifice both K.Rool and Dixie for him.

Just want to remind everyone that we are assuming it's Tetra. It really could've been a Toon Sheik, especially since the files were labelled like that. I know Toon Sheik doesn't exist, but neither did Twilight Princess Sheik (at least official canon, released goes).

Also, Sakurai made quite a few unique characters for the SSE. He also made Giga Bowser. And Master Hand, etc. He easily could've designed Toon Sheik if he wanted to.

For the record, I do think he would've chosen Tetra at the end given enough time. Or Toon Sheik if he had less time and simply needed a faster moveset.

It does seem weird though, that if Toon Zelda was to be a clone, that they would pair her with Tetra who would be original.

If they were going to make Tetra at all... just make Tetra solo.

i'm still on the side that he isn't. i'm just being cautious about it. i have nothing against wolf and i want him in. we need more villains. if sakurai does somehow surprise us with him, then i can definitely see that 4 characters from the ballot will be available. my ocd can't handle an odd numbered roster.
