To be fair, Fates has some pretty nice critical animations. Dark Blood has Kamui jump kick before slashing the enemy, and Wyvern Lords have their wyverns slam the opponent with their tails before finishing them off.

Having said that, I still prefer the GBA ones, there was a unique charm to them that I don't think any of the portable games really captured since.

Also, the most interesting thing is how Sakurai saw the addition of clones as a form of fanservice and expected fans to be happy those characters are playable in the first place.

Another interesting aspect is how Sakurai decides against characters as alts due to character individuality. As we know, Alph was meant to be a clone as well.

The Koopalings are, of course, an exception. I mean, who would've wanted to see 7 clones of a character? Besides, coming up with 7 variations of a moveset and have each stand out in its own ought not to be that easy, not to mention the fact Bowser Jr. was almost cut from the game, one of the reasons being the successful implementation of the Koopaling alts.

Why not bring back Young Link and Pichu back in the game while you have the time to do so for DLC as fanservice to those mains and fans, as free desert of course. :9

Nope. Clones tend be be unplanned last minute additions. Dlc is planned fighters.

Maybe if they did clones as a pack but I don't see them charging for quick clones. By that I mean Lucina or Dark Pit level ones. Lucas and Roy are technically clones but have a lot of differences in combat, necessitating increased play testing.

Young Link overlaps heavily with Toon Link, as he's pretty much a semi-cloned version of Young Link in the same way Falco, Roy, Ganondorf and Luigi became semi-clones after their full clone appearances.

Sakurai did, however, acknowledge that Young Link and Toon Link are different things compared to Link. The former was characterized as literally a younger Link, whereas Toon Link is treated as a somewhat separated entity (literally a different incarnation of Link or a cartoon version of Link). The moveset design is the same, being faster variants of Link's moveset with less power and range.

Pichu, on the other hand, isn't even part of the "Forbidden 7", unlike the other Melee veterans that skipped Brawl. Dr. Mario, Roy and Mewtwo being planned for Brawl leads me to believe Sakurai sees more merit in them.

In regards to DLC, I really don't believe we're seeing full clones. Given how there are multiple waves of content rather than a deadline, it's hard for me to see how would they have extra time for clone characters when they could be working on the subsequent waves.

Another aspect is WHY the clones were made: in Melee, they were deliberately put to increase the roster, whereas in Smash 3DS/Wii U, they are derived from already planned alts. None of those bode quite well for DLC.

If you mean semi clones like Toon Link, Ganondorf and Falco. I suppose so, depends if they want to squeeze someone in or throw some fans a slightly larger bone than a Mii costume. And if the character in question makes sense as a semi clone. We kinda already got one after all.

If you mean clones like the likes of Lucina, Dark Pit and Dr. Mario, I wouldn't really count on it....

I'd always do a team at college with Pichu and Mewtwo where Mewtwo held them in place while I charged up Pichu's side B. Worked every time.

I really honestly feel if Plusle and Minun were planned for Brawl, they wouldn't be Pichu's replacement, since they don't hurt themselves in any Pokemon continuity, if they were planned, they probably going to use a moveset based around double battles, since the two were mainly created for use in double battles.

If it counts for something. Sakurai at least treats Toon Link as a Brawl veteran and not a Melee veteran. The event matches, the old Smash Direct (Where Greninja was revealed) and even the official website more or less showed this.

Then separate the two words - " Iam" and "Arp".
Rather than the beginning of two names, these are actually the END of two character's names. But which ones could they be.

Ephraim and Magikarp, of course.
Ephraim with a Magikarp skewered on a spear was planned for Brawl. Exposed.
They also made a typo. Exposed.

I did, but when Roy was announced I changed my tune. Marth, Lucina and Roy all feel different enough, so why couldn't Link, Toon Link and Young Link?
