I feel really sorry for Next Level Games right now. (I heared they are the developers of the "Metroid" game.)
They made Punch-Out!! Wii and Luigi's Mansion 2. Both games are actually two of my favorites.
They also made the two Mario Strikers, which also weren't bad at all.

I wonder how Nintendo and Next Level Games will react...
Maybe they won't react with anything at all?
However, I really hope it doesn't effect future games they make in a bad way.
Next Level Games did take a pretty major risk here, picking up Metroid and changing it in so many ways.

I'm sure they considered the possibility that it might not get a good reception.

I think I'm among the few here who liked what they had to offer, all of it. I'll agree it wasn't the best, but it was still a modest presentation! I'm happy to see the Federation Officers get their chance to shine. I kind of wanted to play as them ever since the logs you find in Metroid Prime 2. You know they're real people who struggled and have lives too even if they aren't as good as Samus. Besides, who doesn't like to play as the underdog, see if you can't prove the peon can have his badass day in the sun? Or maybe I'm just rambling. Either way.. the game looks pretty solid and has that intense pressure feel when trying to survive and complete your objectives knowing you're more fragile than the badass you're used to.

Meh, some of the games peaked my interest, weather they were already shown or not. Mario Maker is an example. E3 in general was very meh(I guess because I don't really like MMORPG or FPS and FFVII remake(yay..)). And Twitch chat really ruined the expectation for me.

Also, if it was halfly because the things they showed us in the beginning was already know( you know the revealing of the new character) wouldn't that be our fault for spreading the leaks?

Seriously, though I honestly don't mind a Metroid spinoff, but what I really hate about it is that they're using the Prime name. I DO NOT want the Metroid Prime series to be continued. AT ALL.

The series had a good run. Samus encountered the threat of Phazon, she destroyed Phazon's most powerful agent, the Metroid Prime, and saved the Galaxy from being turned to Phazon. There's no need to continue it.

I'm actually really resentful of the fact that they're using the Prime name for the two spinoffs. Because they're insinuating that it's going to continue.

NO, NINTENDO. THE SERIES HAD A GOOD RUN AND WE NNED TO MOVE ON. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR? DO YOU HEAR ME NINTENDO???

It's just nerds in general.

People are so expectant and whiny and needy.

Then when they get it, they *****.

It really bugs me when they say they want change and different things.

Then when they get change they want it to back to the old ways.

This happens in movies, comics, video games. It's just nerds in all mediums.

We're horrible people.
I;m a nerd though, I check ram addresses in paper mario games to gltich hunt them :)

It wasn't a serious post. I thought the smug grin at the end would be a decent enough tip-off.

And it wasn't directed towards people who were disappointed in general. It was 100% to all the people I argued with over the past couple weeks who insisted that we were getting Wolf at E3 because of Star Fox, Wonderful 102 and Wonder Red Smash DLC because of Platinum Games, Mother 3 because of Lucas DLC, Mario Kart 8 DLC even though it was obviously finished, and whatever other crackpot theory picked up traction for no good reason.

.....But in regards to all that spiel, I don't really see any sort of problem with Paper Jam. It would've been nice to finally get a real follow-up to the original and TTYD instead of something different nobody asked for like Sticker Star and Super Paper Mario, but at the same time, Mario & Luigi is a great series in its own regard. I'd say the latter half of the Mario & Luigi series is better than the latter half of the Paper Mario series (Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team > Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star).
I loved spm a lot though.....

But yeah, the thing is, even if I dislike the M&L gameplay.....I have to agree on stuff, the paper mario series getting so much loves that was due since SS and also that it just might have stuff that overshadows my dislike of M&l.

I any case, extremely hype for this actually.

“OK, you guys can use Donkey Kong in Skylanders. Feel free to design him however so he fits the universe.”
“Sweet, you know what he needs!?”
“What’s that?”
“THAT ************ NEEDS PANTS.”

Honestly this alone makes me feel a lot better about FF. I still don't know that it's the kind of game I'll enjoy playing a lot, but some sort of indication that it might be serving as a plot setup makes me feel better about it. Sylux does supposedly have a large background in hating the GF, and if this in some way sets that up...that would actually be great.

This doesn't necessarily indicate that that's the case, but that gives me that hope, anyway, which is enough for me to remain in the middle rather than pessimistic about this announcement.

Also, regarding the petition: If you want a company to see your point of view and respect your wishes, the way to do it is not to throw a temper tantrum and petition for them to stop a game. If it's developed enough that we saw a video of it at E3, it's too far along for them to stop production at this point anyway. Like honestly, I can't stand people like this, much less the fact that there are at least 3,000 of them.

Honestly, if Sylux appears in future trailers.

This game might be saved.

That might get people to give it a second look.

I feel like some named Metroid characters will be extra hidden playable characters.

Maybe even Samus herself.

My idea is that Samus is actually present.

Just not playable.

You would hear of her and her accomplishments and see things through the eyes of the troopers.

When you finally meet her it's a sight to behold.

It'd be a thing of beauty, but we don't even know if there's a plot yet.

I wish I could like this more than once. It's been a really long time that this has been in limbo and it's awesome that they addressed it and confirmed the fan theory. Sylux is the best one of the Hunters and could be a great character if they fleshed him out a bit more. The fact that they're saying this doesn't convince me that a game is on the way, but it does convince me that they at least looked into it. Maybe even have a few concepts drafted up somewhere.

where's my 2d metroid tho
Honestly, I like the 2D Metroids, but let's keep them in the past.

There's an epic world that Metroid is harboring that really really works for 3D and HD.

I can't wait to see a true proper 3D HD Metroid whenever it happens.

even if it can be repurposed, i'm still not sure it's not just like
one of those things where they put a brand name on it so it'll sell
i do know it's really too early to be making such a judgment! but tanabe's statement on it reads as a sort of... something between damage control and "oh that was lucky, now i can do this thing"
the chibis are kind of... well, horrid. and the creature design lacks what makes metroid metroid.

^^there should definitely at least be a super metroid remake.
really, i think retro could do great things with a 2d metroid. returns and ESPECIALLY tropical freeze were superb.

I liked SPM, too. I just don't think it was quite as good as the regular Mario RPGs are, and I felt the complete change in gameplay was unwarranted.

I would've preferred if Paper Mario had moved in the same direction as Mario & Luigi did. Mario & Luigi sequels kept the same core gameplay, but added in a unique gimmick to each installment to keep things fresh. I feel like Paper Mario should've just expanded upon the groundwork laid out by the first game and Thousand-Year Door rather than pointlessly change up a formula that clearly worked perfectly.

I definitely see potential for 3D Metroids and we've barely tread those waters thus far, but I'm not willing to agree that 2D Metroid should be left in the past. Nintendo's proven time and again that modern, AAA games can be made in 2D (more specifically, 2.5D, but the gameplay is pretty much the same either way) and not feel the least bit dated. There's also a pretty big Metroid speedrunning community and that's more possible with something like Other M than the Prime games, but it still flows best in a 2D environment IMO. "Let's take a break" I'm fine with, but I don't think it's valid to write that option off entirely.

I mean, look at this artwork and this artwork, and imagine that but less static and more 3D. 2D Metroid could look amazing and play beautifully if it's done right.

it is worth noting - tanabe was also the reason that every prime rerelease took out sequence breaks. scan dashing, IBBF, geothermal core, floaty jump, the meta ridley thing with the boost ball, infinite boost, MBI...
i... think ghetto jumping is still there.
anyway he's why PAL releases and trilogy are totally nonviable for speedrunning. (not that corruption was to begin with)
