Holy hell...
And there already are over 2,000 supporters...

I mean, it really does feel like a kick in lower areas of the Metroid fans, but I never imagined this to happen...

Personally, I don't like that it's called "Metroid" either, I'd be much more happy if they called it different, making it it's own IP.

@digitaleyes finishes his translation of Snake Joining Brawl. Even though it's an old Famitsu column, the information might be useful for future speculation. In particular...

Maybe that's the reason Snake was cut in Smash 4?
hm. that could probably affect tetra.
I hguarantee if they gave metroid FF two more minutes of gameplay and exposure and a little bit of commentary it wouldnt have been received half as badly.
it got exposure in the treehouse bit. plenty of people saw that. it being shovelware never stopped being a thing.

An hour later after the damage was done. If it was right then and there things would be different. Definitely

Its also not finished. Calling it shovelware this early is jumping the gun. At least give it time to have all of its news out.

Yes lets cancel a game and force metroid straight into limbo because the one game in development is over.

That will totally fix things

Come off your high horse, Burb.

It's not about what you said. It's about how no one expected the presentation to be nothing but spin-offs and games we already knew about.

No one went in expecting to get a Wii U spin-off of Animal Crossing instead of Animal Crossing Wii U for example. Or a crossover between Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario instead of a Paper Mario on Wii U.

Or hell barely any new games for Wii U at all.

It has nothing to do with Smash DLC expectations or expecting sequels to ''flop" games.

It's literally about how the unexpected that we did get was pretty lame. You don't go to E3 and show off a bunch of spin-offs. Sony and Microsoft didn't do that after all.
It wasn't a serious post. I thought the smug grin at the end would be a decent enough tip-off.

And it wasn't directed towards people who were disappointed in general. It was 100% to all the people I argued with over the past couple weeks who insisted that we were getting Wolf at E3 because of Star Fox, Wonderful 102 and Wonder Red Smash DLC because of Platinum Games, Mother 3 because of Lucas DLC, Mario Kart 8 DLC even though it was obviously finished, and whatever other crackpot theory picked up traction for no good reason.

.....But in regards to all that spiel, I don't really see any sort of problem with Paper Jam. It would've been nice to finally get a real follow-up to the original and TTYD instead of something different nobody asked for like Sticker Star and Super Paper Mario, but at the same time, Mario & Luigi is a great series in its own regard. I'd say the latter half of the Mario & Luigi series is better than the latter half of the Paper Mario series (Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team > Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star).

I'm starting to hate video game fans.

No really...

I can deal with the industry.

I can't stand the fans anymore.
I hate people in general.
They are all the same.

Just before my mom was reading one of those celebrity gossip sites, she leaves the room, and I walk past the computer and see "Hype, hype, and more hype!" in the comments section of an article about someone getting plastic surgery or something. I could probably find Hype Train gifs if I dug hard enough.

Everybody is literally the exact same.

Seriously, there's a petition to cancel mpff? Come on, it wasn't that bad.

Well it's no different when people send death threats to celebrities because heaven forbid they date someone that goes against their pairing.

I'm surprised it took so long, to be honest.

The internet's immediate reaction to anything they hate are petitions.

Unless the thing they hate is a person, in which case the reaction is "kill yourself" messages and doxxing.

I agree. While the Digital Event was rather disappointing this year, it was probably because they're sort of winding down with Wii U games. They have two AAA Titles next year, with Zelda U and Star Fox Zero, and some smaller releases and DLC along the way, and I still think they're working on a Wii U Metroid, though I wouldn't be surprised if it is being pushed to the NX (I wouldn't oppose to it either).

Speaking of the NX, I'd say that's where their console efforts are starting to lean towards. They're probably beginning work on some great launch titles. I know Nintendo has a history of repeating its mistakes, but I think they'll will fix the lack of launch titles problem they had with the Wii U, and come prepared to the NX's launch.

As for the content you said people had problems with:
- No Wolf: I didn't expect Wolf. I thought there was a chance, but I doubted it. They had a separate Smash presentation for a reason. It was so the 20 minutes of Smash info didn't take up half of the Digital Event time. People seem to forget the Smash Presentation was part of E3, and that it was very hype.
- No Mother 3: I'm actually a bit baffled by this. I didn't think it was shoe-in because of Lucas, I thought it was shoe-in because of Earthbound Beginnings. The problem Reggie always said with bringing the Mother games to the west was that they "wouldn't sell". Meanwhile, you have hundreds, maybe thousands of fans clamoring for Mother 3. Meanwhile, in some guy's apartment, you have 7, maybe 8 (not sure if Paul considers himself a member of the club) guys clamoring for Mother 1. Now, several people would buy Mother 1, it's just that it's known as the least of the trilogy, and it's nobody's favorite, and much more people want Mother 3. But instead of bringing over the one everybody wants (I have a casual friend who doesn't really like Nintendo but adores Mother 3), Nintendo brings over the one everybody says "Meh," to. So, let me get this straight, you are worried a series won't sell well and are afraid to bring it over, but you bring in the one with vastly less support than the other one you haven't brought over? I though Mother 3 was shoe-in to be announced today just because it would literally make 0% sense for Nintendo to bring over Mother 1 and NOT Mother 3. Outstanding. Now, I don't really care, since I have my emulator to enjoy Mother 3 on, and it's Nintendo's loss (I'll buy it the day it comes out), but the fact they brought Mother 1 over instead of it is just utterly baffling to me. It flies in the face of logic.
- Paper Jam: I don't see why people dislike it. It's not a Paper Mario game being "ruined". It's a Mario & Luigi game with Paper Mario characters. That's it.

Star Fox Zero is a 2015 game.

Paper Mario is already ruined. Sticker Star exists.

It has to be revived before it can get ruined.

in fairness, bringing over two games from a series at once would kind of spread things out and not make a lot of business sense. i'm sure they're working on it or making negotiations with mato or whatever.
(although yeah why mother 1)

it's not necessarily bad, but from what we've seen, it just takes elements from the most lackluster titles in both series
i don't have particular feelings on mario rpgs (i really need to play ttyd sometime...) but it's understandable i think. it doesn't have backlash like ACAF or MPFF, just kind of... "why", i guess.

I posted a locked thread saying that the E3 was very spinoffy (being as objective as I possibly can), and my point still stands.

If they actually had some MAIN stuff, it would've been much better.

To everyone asking "Why Mother 1":

Probably because the game already has an official localization that was unreleased.
https://tcrf.net/Mother

Naturally, it's easier and quicker to get out than Mother 3 for that reason alone.

I didn't see any elements from Partners in Time.

In all fairness, Mother 1 isn't exactly a game talked about in the slightest, and after all this time it's nice to see it come here. Sure Mother 3 would've been great, but it's best to also consider the other games as well.
Plus, this gives more exposure to the Mother franchise as a whole (and continues to show that Nintendo is remembering the franchise). What's not to like?

I like cross dressing Link better than the palette swaps.

It's cool that Nintendo is so casual about that sort of thing. It's just there, not treated as a joke or anything.

In fact it was so casually brought up in the trailer/breakdown for the game that I originally just thought Zelda, Hilda and other characters were also playable.

It wasn't until they brought it up that I realized the Hilda from earlier in the trailer was a Link dressed like her.

I think it's really funny how they made Zelda dress like a princess.

I'm pretty sure that's the reason they did it. Just for the people call Link Zelda joke.

Going down from Four to Three Swords still seems like a step backwards to me, though.

I feel really sorry for Next Level Games right now. (I heared they are the developers of the "Metroid" game.)
They made Punch-Out!! Wii and Luigi's Mansion 2. Both games are actually two of my favorites.
They also made the two Mario Strikers, which also weren't bad at all.

I wonder how Nintendo and Next Level Games will react...
Maybe they won't react with anything at all?
However, I really hope it doesn't effect future games they make in a bad way.

The fans are too demanding and too expressive.
I mean, sure, I was thoroughly unimpressed with some of Nintendo's reveals today, but I would never go as far to petition to stop a game they're putting money into to work on...
It's messed up.
(and it makes me hate all of social media even more)

Yeah, but then that's losing half the fun.
How else can I fuel my urge to throw my friends off cliffs? There's only so long I can play NSMB without people realizing I'm out for blood.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd really like it if the NX was the 3DS successor. A home console being a "third pillar" seems... weird.
