This isn't all that surprising to me. Nintendo is a business after all.

Let's just hope the DLC is used for good.

**** dlc
i am not paying 5 $ for a texture
DLC is awesome.
New maps for games like Halo Battlefield and COD
Charcters, stages, game modes etc for fighting games and all sorts of other games
Expansion packs, extra campaign/co-op missions

DLC can make good games great and can add alot of lastability to otherwise stale games.

I like the idea of DLC, but I don't like paying for it, mainly because I don't have a stable income and because its a cheap way for companies to make money.

Plus seeing as Nintendo were kind enough to make their online service free, I'd expect them to not charge money for DLC. Hopefully not all DLC will cost money for games on Wii U.

No

No no no no no

DLC is spectacularly un-awesome.
I mean it's a great idea for obvious reasons, but almost all DLC this console generation has been about taking more money from the consumers' pockets while providing them with absolutely no additional content that wouldn't or shouldn't otherwise have been in the game in the first place.

These new maps or weapons that are usually sold as DLC are usually finished and ready before the game even ships, you just have to pay to use them. How is that awesome?

Mmm, that kind of DLC is crap.

Though when the developers make legitimately new content after a game's released I don't see a problem with it.

Let's face it guys, DLC is made so the developers can make more
Money. Even if it is new content, there's no reason it couldn't have been there in the first place besides getting more money.

The only downloadable stuff I like are the stores that sell downloadable games, some of them are really good.

Umm, what if the developers come up with something new after the game is released? That couldn't have been there in the game during release.

They generally just make sequels these days to make money with little work. Before sequels used to like 3 or 4 years to make, now its like a year and a half or 2 years.

Dragon Age II = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsFswQ7W81c

I just remembered, If I don't state this I'm gonna get flamed because this is the interwebs, which is srs bzns. I haven't played either Dragon Age, but the first game looked like it took a while to develop. The 2nd game came out a year and half later so yeah.

After the game is released, the produces look at what is popular and what is not and might make DLC based on that. Prime example: CoD:WaW. After seeing how wildly popular zombies were they released more more zombie modes and maps to cater the demand.
