I guess we'll have to use that from now on if a character (or stage) doesn't get in.Deconfirm is not a real English word.
Disconfirm is.

Nah. Deconfirm is fine.I guess we'll have to use that from now on if a character (or stage) doesn't get in.
I was recently thinking about Ed Boon. The first game he ever developed was MK back in 1992 and he has been directing every single Mortal Kombat game ever since, with very few other games in between. There really aren't many other cases like that. Usually developers lose interest, get fired, move onto other projects, whatever, but my man has been doing Mortal Kombat for over 30 years.Sakurai is gonna need to let someone from America do the presentation for whichever MK ninja we'd get.
Imagine if we somehow got Ed Boon there lmao
Funny how this is an opposite Dragon Quest situation, except the 'hype' reaction would be like Sora levels at the calmest in Japan. The West if Mortal Kombat made it into Smash with Techno Syndrome playing in the reveal trailer:

Oh yeah please it looks so good!Do you guys think Mario will use his Mario Wonder design in Smash 6?
It really has been dry since COVID, huh? Lockdown shuffled all the releases, and studios keep insisting on focusing on a select few gigaton titles, leaving comparatively little games to release in the first place. Then they see massive growth while everyone's at home playing video games, only for those conditions to go away once restrictions are lifted. But execs don't adapt to that, they want their profit bar graphs to keep going up and never go down, so whole studios get shuttered on a whim. And now you have less people to make your games, so entire games get canned after half a decade of development, and you have less games to release in the first place. And then everyone jumps on live-services, but those take too long to make, and demand more and more of our time that we only have so much of, making live service games highly unsustainable. And if any of those games flop, even more studios can get shuttered, just like that. And now there's even less people to make your games while you start another eight-year dev cycle.Man, Nintendo is really making us wait for the Switch 2 huh. Even thought it was Feb 4, Not April 2.
I'm not the overzealous fan who needs news like Life Support but man, ever since COVID, Gaming season has been so dry. Nothing but delays, droughts, doom and gloom news like lay-offs, $70 etc. E3 being cancelled for good.
This Generation of the 9th has been such a disappointment, funny we are already at the end. Really can't wait for Nintendo to kick off the 10th Generation with Switch 2.
I feel like a shaman in desert dying of thirst.
Also Disconfirmed is much better word, will be using from now on.
I mean there was Xenoblade 3 a few years back that was a quite good entry in the series imo and also IIRC released earlier than its initial stated release window.Man, Nintendo is really making us wait for the Switch 2 huh. Even thought it was Feb 4, Not April 2.

I mean, aside from the stuff that objectively sucks (trust me, I get it), I think calling the post-COVID generation of gaming “dry” is kind of an overstatement. It was during the 2020’s that I tried out more game series, and there was definitely no shortage of good if not great games released this decade.Man, Nintendo is really making us wait for the Switch 2 huh. Even thought it was Feb 4, Not April 2.

I mean along with the other stuff some people have mentioned, Metroid Prime 4 is coming out... soonish? maybe?I agree the Nintendo world has been kinda dry recently. We’re in the calm before the storm right now. The last days of the Switch being Nintendo’s main console.
Once the Switch 2 direct hits and we get several announcements and probably a release date, there’ll be a ton more to talk about.
At this point I’m just glad it’s coming out at allI mean along with the other stuff some people have mentioned, Metroid Prime 4 is coming out... soonish? maybe?
At least this time we know for sure when we’ll get news.Until Nintendo announces Switch 2View attachment 400054
News are on hold (exclude Pokemon Direct recently).
We experienced a news drought before, so this is nothing new.
Too late! You said it. It's law. No one is allowed to use "deconfirm" anymore.Nah. Deconfirm is fine.
English isn't my first language so I'm in no valid place to go grammar police on y'all.
Mind you, 2024 was surprisingly eventful for the last year before the Switch 2. I believe the current rumor is that the Switch 2 was delayed from a late 2024 release to shore up launch titles, so we might've had a more eventful winter year, but we'll (hopefully) have a jam-packed launch year to make up for it.I agree the Nintendo world has been kinda dry recently. This might sound dumb, but I feel like Ed's personal dedication towards Mortal Kombat is it's biggest chance at getting into Smash. Just the off chance that he finds himself driven towards getting a character in Smash.
Now I'm realizing the parallels with Sakurai. Both of them developed their first game in 1992 and have been passionately working in the industry ever since, both of them are extremely dedicated to their specific fighting game franchise, directing every single entry in either series. Both are known for making impossible crossovers happen in their respective fighting games.
I swear these dudes just need to bro down, have a few drinks together, talk about life and Scorpion would be in Smash in no time!
Reminds me of "irregardless". Enough people just tacked "ir" onto "regardless" because reasons that it became it's own word...that means the same thing as regardless despite the "ir" prefix meaning "not".Dear lord; a 2-letter-difference between prefixes that have extremely similar meanings!
I'm probably a broken record by now but given past release schedules we should've had a new Kirby game last year and a new Fire Emblem this year, and we're already getting a new Mario Kart, Metroid Prime, and Pokemon this year too. I'll bet good money we'll also see a quirky new IP to show off the Switch 2's new features, most likely the mouse-cons. That's a damn solid lineup, I'd say.Honestly, if a drought now means the Switch 2 will have a really solid set of games in its launch window, I'm more than okay with that lol
I would love for the Switch 2 to basically be like "Okay so the Switch was massive, so let's do that again but EVERYTHING is even better". Just come out of the gate absolutely swinging.
ARMS is iffy since we know the ARMS devs are likely busy with MK8DX and MK9. The few supplementary media it was slated to have, like the IDW comic, were quietly shuttered, but we did get Min Min in Smash less than half a decade ago. I'll hold out a bit longer until the 10th anniversary, just to be safe.So... It's almost been ten years since ARMS had a game.
Do we call it dead?

Not yet. It hasn't really had a chance to get a sequel with the devs busy with Mario Kart. It's pretty easy to assume that Mario Kart 10 is gonna be a launch title, so if we don't see ARMS 2 by...2028 at the very latest, it's dead.So... It's almost been ten years since ARMS had a game.
Do we call it dead?
Finally. The long awaited sequel to Shotgun Kiss...and it's pretty good.Let's be real here - if Smash ever gets a character from Yakuza/Like A Dragon, a new remix of MachineGun Kiss would be pretty awesome:
Nah. I'd expect ARMS 2 to be decently early on, but as others have said, the staff is the same as Mario Kart's and they've been working on the BCP and the Switch 2 one that looks to be a launch title, or at least launch window. Yabuki is probably in a Director/Producer role again too as he was for 7, 8, and 8 Deluxe.So... It's almost been ten years since ARMS had a game.
Do we call it dead?
Generally designs and moves can be added regardless of when a game is planned like Luigi's grab being from a game that released in 2019 so it's possible but I think Smash 6 will take a unique direction compared to previous games.Do you guys think Mario will use his Mario Wonder design in Smash 6?
Not even sure if ARMS was supposed to be more than just a tech demo but I could be wrong.So... It's almost been ten years since ARMS had a game.
Do we call it dead?
I would say yes, but who knows, anything can happen, we got Megaman 11 after all.So... It's almost been ten years since ARMS had a game.
