In japan, Tactical RPGs are known as "Simulation RPGs" (sources on this page), a designation which might seem peculiar to native English speakers. This stems from the Japanese usage of "simulation" as a short hand for "strategy simulation game".And Famitsu readers are supposed to be right? Everyone with a brain knows Fire Emblem is an RPG.
Fire Emblem and SimCity also are on the same Japanese Wikipedia page about Simulation Games, but there is no source. Tactical RPGs are referred to as Simulation RPGs.
Famitsu is Japanese. This is legitimately the first time I've ever heard of it as a 'simulation'. Famitsu got that wrong.
