His mii costume was left out while the Virtua Fighter costume got in with the SNK costumes. Though they could just be saving him for another Namco rep as well.

Only in so much as Hero's presentation confirmed Geno or Chocobo. I know what you're getting at, but Sakurai doesn't make **** that obvious.

So this is a convo from a bit back but I wasn’t around for it so here goes anyway lol.

I want to say that I’m on board with a focus on unrepresented IPs for new 1st party characters because that is generally the more interesting route and there are plenty to choose from. Also Isaac is my most wanted 1st party character.

But I also think there are a fair few characters that need to be in this game from series that are already repped. Namely Dixie Kong, Impa (or at least one non triforce wielding Zelda rep), Elma and/or Rex, Bandana Waddle Dee. And tbh I personally want to see more WarioLand love, so I would include Captain Syrup in that list as well. And perhaps even Ashley so we have Wario plus one character from each of his series. And then I can’t help but feel Octolings are fairly likely as echoes or otherwise.

And then at that point I look at what I just listed and realize that’s 7 characters already. And I highly doubt we’ll be getting that many 1 st party dlc characters, let alone more. So I feel mixed about it. I’d like to see Isaac. I’d like to see other series included too for the sake of Variety but I also want to see those characters I just listed. So I guess I’d like to see a balance.

But mostly I want to see Dixie and Isaac.

Oh well I get it now, and well, I know it's not 100% confirmed but I'm still waiting for the 2 namco and capcom rep, I was pretty sure that we could get one from DLCs since we get ryu and pacman again in Ultimate, altough it's not for sure.

Now that Terry is actually out, how do we rate him? I give him a 5/5 for starting with 3 like everyone, being stupid fun to play, having a ****ton of bangers and the stage itself is very different if not only for the fireworks. Wall bounce is ****ing cool too

Just got back from the Terry hype, as well as trying to listen to every single SNK jam in the game (the Sakurai bias is real).

I love repeating myself somehow, but yeah, KOS-MOS is now my most wanted. I just bought more origami paper just to make sure about that. Oh well, guess I'll either wait for KoF XV, or just spend it all on Blazblue Central Fiction. Whew...

Sorry to bring back this, but I have question for you guys. Is Mai Shiranui deconfirming female characters like Zero or 2B from Yoko Taro's Drakengard / Nier series to just appear in Smash Bros?

Since we can see Cammy's artwork with her classic leotard (which for me it's suggestive), maybe 2B is possible as playable or spirit, but that makes me think that society has a problem with female representation when it shouldn't have. I still think including Mai at least as a spirit was possible as she has several adequate and old artworks. I don't care if she isn't part of the Terry stage but don't say she can't be in Smash Bros as the team alterate Camilla and Mythra's artworks to remove cleavage.

I would like to have more female characters represenation (playable, spirits...), in particular KOS-MOS from Bandai-Namco's Xenosaga series. And her design is now "questionable" right ?...

All jokes aside, Okami is an incredible game and Ammy is easily my second choice for a new Capcom fighter (the first being Monster Hunter but I'm unsure on that happening with Rathalos being in the game already, so eh).

And who wouldn't want a stage in Smash that looks like this:

Although...Ryoshima Coast would actually be my preferred location to use but we know how Sakurai loves his starting areas in video games

So I see there has been plenty of talk of Mai Shiranui's exclusion.

If they were to use someone like Dead or Alive's Kasumi for example, they could always use her current uniform from Dead or Alive 6 instead of her original costume from DoAs 1-5.

No.

It's not "society", it's the age rating boards.

Especially CERO has a problem with female character models which you can look up to their skirts. Mai's iconic design is too much for Smash's rating and they likely didn't want to bother changing it just for a cameo.

KOS-MOS has a very short skirt, so yeah, she's probably an issue. They can just give her tights and call it a day if they really want her playable, though.

Yeah, but we've said that before about other false leaks.

Those two in particular were seen as 'absolutely, positively true' couldn't be 'disproven' with 'literally no way' they could be fake and yet they were.
What I'm saying is that you should never, under any circumstance, believe a leak unless it came from the ineptitude of Nintendo themselves, such as was the case with Castlevania & SNK in Smash being leaked by them their selves prior to reveal.
Its not hard to fake costume mods in Smash, not even Smash Ultimate, and if people wanted to make a convincing leak and had the skill, they would clearly make unique models.
Beyond that, Cacodemon is kind of Doom's mascot and there is a possibility of two Doom Mii Fighter costumes, if two, its not outside the realm of possibility.
Us saying 'Hype Responsibly' isn't us trying to silence you or rain on your parade, its us trying to tell you not to get your hopes up on something you see as a certainty only to be devastated if it ends up becoming false.

1) No one 'deserves' to be in Smash.
2) I'd rather have her as a Mii Fighter than not at all, which seems the most likely situation.
3) I doubt we'd get another SNK character for Smash and the one we got was always going to be Terry, obviously. Sadly, Haohmaru would likely be chosen over her..main character bias and all.

Sorry, that's just the reality of the world we live in. Females, both in real life and in fiction, are constantly under more scrutiny than males are, especially in regards to outfits, cleavage, butts and crotch, legs, etc.
That said, what Shulk wears isn't too different from Zero Suit Samus' alts while Mai shows off her cleavage, butt, and thighs and the CERO ratings board is stupid strict on that stuff.

Not how it works, I'm afraid. I mean, I agree with you, but publishers often have 'rules' about what rating their characters can appear in, so honestly, I'd be willing to bet that many companies, especially the Pokémon Company (since they are very strict about this stuff) demands that their characters not appear above a certain age rating and lets be honest, if the choice is having a character like Pikachu playable versus having characters like Mai and Tharja appear in 3D models, they are clearly going to choose Pikachu.

I know we got Joker and Bayonetta, but guns are a minor part of each of their kits & don't have realistic effects at all. It's hard to imagine a firearms-centric character under these conditions.

Doomguy has plenty of goofier futuristic weapons and explosives if that’s an issue.

Not sure about how they’d work around and RE character though. Unless they just add Wesker. (Who would use a gun for maybe one or two moves and the rest would be him darting all over the screen.)

Unless they convinced them that it's ok because Joker's gun isn't a real gun even though they call his attack "Gun" I think gunslingers are safe.

Eh I dunno. Most people don't find Sabi to be a credible source, and the tweet doesn't mention Super Smash Bros. I wouldn't take this as a confirmation by any means, though I wouldn't be surprised if we did get our Game Awards reveal.

That song alone inspired me to become an Athena main in KoF, and still am to this day.

Doom Guy isn't only good for shooting. He can also fight hand to hand too. If guns are really a problem, Sakurai can take a Snake approach to him. Even then Joker got away with a gun so I don't think that is an issue anymore. Doom Guy can handle a lot of compromises before he is considered not true to form.

If the leak is real and Nintendo is smart, they'd just leave it up. Taking it down would give evidence towards its legitimacy that it could never achieve in its current situation.

But they seem to care more about purging leaked content than leaving a shadow of a doubt.
