Speaking of franchises that I can't see being ignored for Smash. I'm sure Minecraft will get some form of representation, there is no excuse now that Microsoft's name is in the company copyright list.

Bonus points for being Toriyama designed like Hero was.

Although P-money was another Smash 4 wish of mine that ended up happening, I didn't root for her until years later (after Kid Icarus Uprising), and never considered her a pipe dream. I was referring to a character that would later be known as Wii Fit Trainer.

Here's hoping lightning strikes twice with The Savvy Stylist.

Nothing that couldn't be reasonably censored. Bayonetta literally kills angels and gets naked in her games, but she was toned down for Smash.
So for violence to disqualify a character, it would have to be so integral to the character that the character loses its... well, character, without the violence.
I would have said in the past that Mortal Kombat characters fit that description, but then they had a crossover with DC, and now there exists a version of Scorpion without insanely graphic violence.

So right now.... no one.

I think Mortal Kombat characters still fit that description. When people think of Mortal Kombat, they think of fatalities. When people think of Doom, they think of ripping and tearing.

- Every other company that previously had a Fighter in Smash has gotten another fighter in Smash Ultimate.
- Sega had Bayonetta/Sonic, and got Joker.
- Capcom had Megaman/Ryu, and got Ken.
- Konami had Snake, and got Simon/Richter.
- Square Enix had Cloud, and got Hero as DLC.

- Bandai Namco had Pac-man, but have got no other characters in Smash Ultimate.
- Bandai Namco is the company that is most involved in Smash Ultimate, other than Nintendo. They create the game.
- Bandai Namco is missing the Mii Costumes of Lloyd/Heihachi, two very popular requests within the Smash community.

Anecdote:
- No one has any solid information on who FP #5 is; this likely indicates that FP #5 is a well kept secret. Bamco themselves are making the game, making it easy to keep the identity of FP #5 a secret.

I think Bamco has a ton of evidence pointing towards FP #5, I would be shocked if it ended up being any other company. I may create another post for Lloyd/KOS-MOS, as I feel that they have the most evidence pointing towards them.

Could be a surname and means little about the gender. Though it'd make their relationship either very coincidental or very creepy. lol. So if John Goodman has a daughter, her last name wouldn't be Goodwoman.

It's a long stretch in any way trying to rationalize a video game name. The likely answer is brand recognition. It really shouldn't bother you that much. You're looking too deep into absolutely nothing, my friend.

If anything I do imagine the Heihachi Mii costume returning for sure, as back in 4, Sakurai stated translating Tekken’s 3D fighting style (different buttons for limb movements and whatnot) to smash would be a handful. It probably still holds up today as that’s less a rendering issue (I.e. Inkling’s ink, Ice Climbers which is why neither were in 4 as playable) and more a mechanics issue.

The fact that we still haven't seen any Namco mii costume despite Banjo coming with some Capcom costumes is pretty suspicious. Even more so if Terry comes and still no Namco costumes and even more costumes from Capcom, Sega, and SE show up.

Lloyd and KOS-MOS are the two best frontrunners now. Color theory? Both can fill that shoe. Bamco rep possibility? Check.

But with how impactful the game has been to the gaming industry as a whole and how much Sakurai praised the game, I'm sure the thought of Minecraft in Smash might have crossed Nintendo's minds. When you have Shigeru Miyamoto expressing that he wishes Nintendo came up with Minecraft first then you know a game is very important.

What's giving me confidence about Minecraft content in Smash is the fact that Microsoft was supposedly easy to work with in regards to Smash, with Phil Spencer saying Banjo was easy to negotiate with. Microsoft are even porting their games on the Switch. The ball is in Nintendo's court if they want to collaborate with Microsoft more, because from what I've seen it seems Microsoft has a good relationship with Nintendo.

Since we're a celebration of gaming, isn't it right to give Esports scenes a rep? I mean, LoL was one of Esports' frontrunners. Considering that they have 10 years behind their back. I think they'd know about Sakurai's biggest crossover and would approach him for it.

I know they're not as popular as the main suggestions being thrown around, but if we hypothetically got other Microsoft characters, I'd like Joanna Dark, Razputin (Psychonauts), or a Killer Instinct rep. 2/3 of those are probably my N64 bias kicking in, and Psychonauts was just that good.

But honestky imo Minecraft is slowly becoming a meme pick ever since its rivalry with Banjo Kazooie for the FP3 slot. Master Chief is more emblematic to Microsoft, so I'd definitely see him over Steve.

Not only do they know about Smash, they literally made a Brawl mod with League Champions years ago that was played internally by some members of the team. They know about Smash, allright.

Plus, with Wild Rift coming to mobile and consoles, I really doubt it won't be on the Switch - you know, the current console that touts portability as perhaps its biggest aspect? I know being on Nintendo consoles isn't a requirement by any means, but it certainly helps.

Not really. Women tend to take their husband's last name upon marriage (in the U.S. at least), and as far as we've seen before she fell off the face of the Earth Ms. Pac-Man seems to be Pac-Man's wife. I believe they even have a child in that point and click adventure game.

To be honest I don't think we'll be seeing anything from Blizzard for a while. The Warcraft and League of Legends series are largely PC based and don't have much to do with Nintendo, and Overwatch didn't get a Switch port until the end of it's life. This might not matter quite as much if Overwatch 2 is also coming to Switch but then why port the first game there if you're just going to throw out a sequel that's pretty much the same thing as the original? (Unless I'm mistaken about that.)

It's not a meme. People genuinely want Steve and that should be clear. Every character is a meme pick if we go by the memes their fans create; Steve is wanted and liked by many people so he's not anymore of a "meme pick" than Mario would be if he somehow wasn't in yet. The grotesque render was a product of a small minority of stupid trolls.

And if what's emblematic mattered that much, Master Chief would be in before Banjo. I can see Master Chief getting in as well or even without Steve, but Microsoft is very lenient with Mojang and their game, and have been since they bought them. It should be just as easy to get Steve as it was Banjo if not easier.

Let's not start Banjo vs. Steve 2. Most Steve fans liked Banjo or didn't care, anyway, so I highly doubt they'd get mad at Master Chief.

I can see either character making it in, but I believe Minecraft is more likely since we have high ranking figures from Nintendo outright praising the game. If Nintendo wants the shock factor though then Master Chief beats out Steve in that regard.

My take on the whole "Anime Swordsman" debacle is that I don't think the complaints are unjust but I see it mostly as a Fire Emblem problem because all the characters in that series look the same to me. We pretty much have four characters who essentially play the same with Marth, Lucina, Roy and Chrom. Then we have three Links, Ike, Robin, Corrin, Shulk, Cloud, Mii Swordfighter and the Dragon Quest heroes so I can see why it can get a little tiresome seeing another 6'2 human Swordfighter. They are visually uninteresting compared to most of the characters in Super Smash Bros and blend in with the crowd with their mostly medieval fantasy setting.

Well that's what I think anyway.

Remember how much of the base game was leaked beforehand, including info on first-party inclusions? Just because Bamco is making the game doesn’t make any info related to any potential character leak-proof. This is also assuming that every DLC fighter leak so far has originated from the character’s original company.
