Tales of has an official yearly fan festival, where they reveal the results of who is the most popular character at the time. Yuri placed top 1st too many times, so they created a hall of fame for him, and 1 other character (who would always be #2).

Yuri was banned so he isn't #1. Yuri is at the top left of the page, outside the rankings. Velvet placed #7 while Lloyd is #11.

If a Tales of character gets in, I'm expecting Yuri or Lloyd. Especially Lloyd since Sakurai said "who else but Lloyd?" or something like that in an interview about choosing Namco characters and maybe the mii costumes.

I can imagine them screwing up and revealing Terry's release date before fixing it. But I also wonder if that was his intended date but it was changed for some reason.

I wouldn't guess Lloyd being FP5 as we'd have three of the five FP characters be anime JRPG swordsmen, though I guess you could say Smash 4's DLC was dominated by those

I meant that Lloyd has the biggest fanbase pushing for his inclusion, compared to the rest of the Tales characters, not in general.

This is a typo they either haven't caught yet or thought it didn't matter. Kazooie's name is properly capitalized elsewhere, and not just in the areas where everyone's name is in all caps.

Go to the DLC page and press Control, Shift, and I (that's the letter i, as in eye, not L or one). This opens up the Inspect Element menu which, from what I saw in another Tweet, makes it so anyone can make the wording of the page appear to be whatever they want. I could make a screenshot where the characters' names are Cesar Romero, Hiro from Heroes, Burger King, and Terry Crews, with the phrase "Challenger Pack 5" being replaced with Knack.

I don't know who he is, but I guess he covers leaks in a similar manner to LaxChris, since someone called him LaxChris 2.0 in the comments.

No. If you're only aiming to leak a date, fixing anything else would in and of itself be seen as suspicious.

I think Mortal Kombat characters still fit that description. When people think of Mortal Kombat, they think of fatalities. When people think of Doom, they think of ripping and tearing.

Most people I've seen online that think of "Ripping and tearing" are thinking about the comic that created that famous line and not about the gameplay of the new games.

First of all, do we have confirmation that this site edit was recent?

Second of all, do we have evidence to even point this to anything productive? We know Terry is coming out this month and Nintendo can prepare weeks in advance if need be.

Shulk, Cloud, and Mii Swordfighter look nothing like medieval fantasy, what are you talking about. Shulk has a ****ing laser sword.

That's why I say it's more of a Fire Emblem problem than anything. Shulk, Cloud and Mii Swordfighter are just examples of other human sword fighters.

Frankly the more I see anime swordsmen complaints, the more ridiculous they get. Even though we have three fighters based on Marth and 2 based on Link, they play nothing alike.

The Links all share the same specials (Remote Bomb is just a manual detonation version of the regular bombs) tilts, down smash and up aerial. The only take away from this is that Toon Link at least plays the most unique out of the three Links.

Visually, cartoon characters tend to feel samey as well due to many sharing same design principles so dunno what you're complaining.

Elaborate on this "same design principles".

Variety is nice in the game and anime swordsmen are a minority, and currently it could be argued that of the 3 dlc characters the 2 that could count as anime swordsmen (Joker and Hero) are some of thr most unique characters in Ultimate so far.

Joker's standard attacks aren't entirely dependant on his dagger as kicks are usually added to his moves as well so he's not much of an "anime swordfighter". Meanwhile nearly every single one of the Hero's standard attacks uses his Sword.

Are you saying that Marth, Lucina, Roy and Chrom all have the same singular playstyle with no differences between them?

Because if you are, I'm begging you, please tell me you're trolling.

Yes and no! Yes because they all use swords, they all use Dancing blade, a neutral b charging move, down b counter, same smash attacks, aerials and tilts.
No because their swords have different properties.
