Out of the fighting game reps people are asking for, I think I've seen Tekken/Soul Calibur and ArcSys reps the most, with the occasional Mortal Kombat thrown in. You know what would be kinda cool? A Killer Instinct rep. That's the one fighter I haven't really gotten a chance to play (and I've played almost everything under the sun from Dark Awake: The King has no Name to Koihime Enbu).

Jago or Black Orchid would be the likely picks.

Isn't Fulgore like the mascot of Killer Instinct? I know jack **** about it, but he's the one I see constantly on promotional material and discussion

I just realized something when it comes to that Tales trademark from a few days ago - people often say that another symbol would have been used for Lloyd (the one that looks like a clock), but what if - assuming the book is a Smash series emblem - it's another Tales game entirely? I don't know much about Berseria, Xillia or Vesperia, but is there a symbol close to the one that was trademarked in the other Tales games?

I don't know, Robin just seems to hurt Edelgard's chances more since from what you have said she is more of an antagonist than a protagonist while with Robin sure, he is secondary to Chrom is still a protagonist and a prevalent one throughout the entire game.

That's putting a spin on what I said. Every one of the house leaders is an antagonist if you don't side with them. The difference is that Edelgard is still incredibly important on all routes, not just her own. Dimitri and Claude, meanwhile, are much more minor characters outside their own routes (especially Claude who REALLY got shafted in this regard, which is a shame). It still stands that Edelgard is the face of the game for all intents and purposes, so it makes no sense to write her off due to the nature of a game with branching paths.

To put it another way, the fact that your rival can have a Greninja doesn't stop Greninja from being a starter Pokémon.

Anyway I want Sol because I wanna scream my lungs out to the Xrd and 2020 OSTs when playing Smash. I want to hit Volcanic Viper the second someone tries to attack me in disadvantage. I wanna see more metal inspired character designs. I need to be able to mash Dragon Install and get bodied instantly. I want to see how far Sakurai would go to represent GG like including DESTROYED! if Sol lands a Final Smash. I want to air dash, making people not used to real fighting games ***** about common fighting game stuff like they did with Hero. I want to who'd be used for Spirits, I want to see this Freddie Mercury asshole get loads of Smash related fanart

Not going to lie, a lot of these complaints about people wanting female characters are not really helping any discussion whatsoever, most of them could just be "You shouldn't want female characters in Smash because Smash is only going to be filled with characters I like" or "You should be happy about the characters you have" or "I don't want female characters to fill up a quota, but I want Dixie to have perfect DK representation".

Plus if I'm being honest with all of you and pardon me beforehand for my comment, I don't really feel Dixie Kong is that important or iconic to be missing from the roster. Her appearing would be nice but ultimately I don't really feel her not appearing in the game as a playable character is that big of an issue.

You're assuming my position, mate. Go back and read anything I've said on this discussion. I hate forcing **** for diversity and I have plenty of characters who I want that are both men and women. If people wanna see women, I don't give a ****. DLC is already chosen and Sakurai doesn't do diversity for diversity sake.

And step back for a minute. This is a dumb Smash forum that barely scrapes a 1000 total users. That is not even .01% of the total player base. You're telling me we're forcing Sakurai to do anything? Well we happen to have a highly requested iconic game characters that was once the major competitor to Nintendo much like sonic was in Crash and Spyro. So they are already near the top of the list for possibilities. If they weren’t that popular and you tried to force them we would have an issue.

Dixie Kong is the obvious next choice if there were to be a Donkey Kong rep. That's pretty undisputed across the board, and that's why she gets brought up in this conversation. Because unlike the other first party franchises, there isn't really an argument to be made against her by a male character. (Sorry Funky fans lmao.) I agree though that while I love Dixie I won't be heartbroken if we don't get her, and I don't think she's a shoe-in.

I certainly hope you're not referring to me, as I jokingly threw around the idea a few pages back. I for one was just reinstating my confidence in the game receiving more female representation.

It's kind of sad how Kazooie is seen as a counterargument here nstead of an entire character. When BK were revealed, I was happy to see Kazooie about as much as I was to see Banjo. When the breegull bash and bayonet were shown off, I was happy to see Kazooie's expressions and animations.

The main difference is that Robin is the protagonist throughout his story while with what has been said, Edelgard can be a co-protagonist but is then the main antagonist no matter what path is chosen. Byleth is the protagonist no matter what route you choose just like Robin so despite Edelgard's importance to the story, I still think Byleth would be chosen solely on the basis that they are the protagonist,

I genuinely don't understand how some people here think that people can't want female characters because of their credentials AND because they're female and they want more characters that match their own gender. A worrying number of people think it's solely because of the latter and not both the former and latter.

It comes to some people violently rejecting what they see as forced diversity. They don't want a character added solely because they're a woman. Which i don't think anyone is actually asking for. We're not asking for a character like a female cook from Overcooked with no male alts. We're asking for Lara Croft, an undeniable video game icon.

The fact that a talk about diversity (or lack thereof) can be labelled as political is dishearteng. But hey, if you're coming into this thread to stir ****, its pretty apparent you have an axe to grind rather than something substantial to add.

No one's asking for a character like Fat Princess or a mobile game/Fortnite avatar just because they're female. We want females that genuinely have the credentials like Dixie Kong, Chun-Li, Lara Croft, Jill Valentine, Impa, Elma, etc. A lot of people like to straw man those asking for females into the former.

Yet by saying people only want characters because of their vagina, you are putting words in people's mouths. ****, someone suggested we had to add only girls from here on out and I was able to add over 50 after adding a personal rule of "I have to actually like the character". Otherwise I'd have included **** I didn't care about. Just like Sol being Indian, a character being female is a bonus, not the selling point, it's your own fault if you see me say I want Shanoa and Miriam and assume I only want them because they're girls and nothing else.


Also you never answered my question, do you feel anything in Smash is underrepped?
