On the whole Incineroar vs Decidueye and Simon vs Alucard discussion:
I honestly found Incineroar a bit disappointing as a grappler character, his command grab is nowhere nearly as flexible as I would have liked. I always expected a grappler in Smash would be someone who had a command grab that would change depending on directional input, make it his neutral special and then have variations like backwards being a defensive grab with super armor, and upwards being an anti-air grab. Incineroar's grab is fun, but it's not applicable in enough situations that I feel like he's a proper grappler, he lives the wrestling fantasy well, but that's about it. I would have preferred Decidueye, I'm a sucker for Grass-types, and even if I think a pure archer character is difficult to make work in Smash, he would at least have Grass and Ghost moves that would make it so that all of his moves wouldn't need to be projectiles.
I did however agree with Simon over Alucard, despite SotN being my favorite in the series. I think Alucard could have been a fantastic character, but Simon was the natural pick imo, he's like the Marth of Castlevania, he has the Nintendo connection, and also makes for an extremely unique character, to downplay the latter part is just being willfully ignorant. ZSS doesn't even need to be brought up, from Smash 4 onwards she only has two or three moves where she uses a whip, her primary fighting style is her rocket boots now, she's really not much more of a whip user than Pit is an archer. Even Brawl ZSS didn't really live the whip fighting style, the Belmonts most certainly do, not just because of how much they use the whip, but also because of how their specials compliment the fighting style, they feel like a fully realized concept and have been fantastic additions to the roster imo. Now of course Alucard also has a ton of potential, but my point is that the discussion doesn't really come down to who could have the most unique moveset, it's fair enough to admit you'd rather have one or the other for the simple reason that you think that character is just cooler.
