Considering how they removed "Brave" once it became clear that had been found out, I highly doubt that they'd be so careless to leave something like this again.

Though here's a fun discussion topic for everyone here: Which potential newcomers do you think would have which code name?

I for one could see "law"/"lawyer" for Phoenix Wright, "sun" for Amaterasu, or "mech" for Elma.

Digi for Agumon
Hikari for Sora
Puzzle for Professor Layton
Ninja for Hayabusa
Spin for Crash

There's none that I'm aware of since they probably stepped up their game after Brave got leaked, but Banjo-Kazooie's codename was revealed to be Buddy. Had that codename been leaked on the same time as Jack and Brave, the speculation scene would've probably jumped all over the place on it.
"Its a boy and his blob! I'm calling it now!"
Is how I see that going.

Code name shenanigans, huh? Neat.

For Edelgard they'd probably go for either Eagle or Emperor depending on how on the nose they want to be.

Crash could be Spin.

Codenames aren't easy to think of, but I'll put some on here for fun.
"Razor" for Ryu Hayabusa (if both "Dragon" and "Ninja" are already taken)
"Terror" for Nightmare
"Charge" for Zhao Yun or Yukimura (was thinking "Warrior" but that might give it away)
"Care" for Cooking Mama ("Chef" could probably be another codename too)
"Roll" for Aiai
"Phone" for Jacket
"Agent" for Francis York Morgan

"Mayhem" for Doom Slayer

Yes the 16 placeholder slots would indeed fill up the entire character select screen. It would look something like this.

Now wether Sakurai would actually go that far, or maybe even beyond (if he can), who knows, only time will tell I guess....
Also with that many characters Squad Smash will look perfect too!

Have dataminers found another character evidence like "Brave" ou "Jack" in version 5.0?
Not in 5.0, but codename "Jane" was datamined with Joker and probably will play out sooner or later, and the most likely character for that codename is Kasumi from P5R, Sakurai probably realised they could just sell her as her own thing instead of an alt around P5R's International release or P5S's release (i don't get why people think they would add a file and a codename and then just scrap the idea, we know smash plans things way in advance)

Well, they should've learnet the lesson since Sm4sh when Roy and Ryu were datamined before they were announced. But i think you're right.

Personally think a better codename for Creeper would be “awman” :troll:

I’ll see myself out.

Wasn't Jane the one with the ponytail in the data, which we now know belongs to Terry?

I personally think that "jane" seems to be closer to Terry than to Kasumi.

So I guess we're doing codenames. I didn't wanna make any of these too obvious because I'd still want to keep the mystery if they were found, so I'm sorry if some of these are a little esoteric

Jill = Star
Geno = Wish
Sora = Sky
Travis = Neat
Steve = Terra
Crash = Guinea
Kiryu = Dragon
Lloyd = Oracle
Frisk = Resolve
Layton = Chivalry
2B = Reboot

Weird question but is Iron man really that popular in the context of Smash? The only 4 party that I see people asking are Goku (and sometimes other anime characters), Shrek and Spongebob (the last two are clearly memes). I actually never saw anyone talking about Iron man in Smash aside from Sakurai himself. Is he like more popular in Japan or something?
He's not a popular request in the Smash community, no. But he said:

"I get a lot of requests, even from overseas, asking when their beloved Iron Man or when their beloved Goku are going to get into Smash, but I really have to stress that this is a game celebration," said Sakurai. "It has to focus on characters whose origins are in games."

So I'm guessing he's getting these Iron Man requests from western fans that aren't part of the Smash community.

Which potential newcomers do you think would have which code name?
"Falcon" - Ryu Hayabusa
"Alex" - Kunio

The problem is that Jane was 100% tied to Joker. There's no debating that. It could have been Kasumi when Atlus wasn't 100% sure on what her role was going to be and Sakurai toyed with the idea of her being an alt. It would have been scrapped later on after Kasumi's role was realized to be nothing like Joker. This is the absolute simplest explanation. Trying to tie it to a future character is just a bit silly

I like your list of codenames. Most of them are tenuous enough not to be completely obvious at first glance, but once you see the character associated you think "oh right, I can see why that fits".

That's how it should be...The point is so it's not too obvious. Like if you say "Key" for Sora, many people will go "Hrmm...Is it Sora?" (I should mention I'm not throwing shade at anyone that picked Key for Sora was just an example)

I still think some of them are a bit obvious like Skull Kid's and Shantae's, but what can you do?

Sakurai throwing us under the bus as if Japan doesn't ask for Goku just as much if not more. They ask for more anime characters than we do!

We're just ***** about it. That's why we get messages to stop pestering him and they don't.

So I get it Sakurai.

The closest thing we have to an anime character playable in Smash is Mewtwo, whose personality in the Japanese version of Melee was very closely based on the Japanese version of Pokémon: The First Movie. They also use Shadow Ball, which isn't a Psychic type move, but Mewtwo's anime movie incarnation is the first Pokémon to ever use the move Shadow Ball in any Pokémon media, so it's associated with Mewtwo in Smash.

Other Pokémon have elements that call back to the anime (Smash 4 and Ultimate Lucario use Lucario's VA from their movie, Smash Ultimate Greninja now uses the kunai the anime depicts them using attacks with instead of the Smash original water katanas) besides the anime trope of "their names are the only thing they can say", but Mewtwo is seemingly a special case.
