It just occurred to me even though several people already pointed it out: the wait time for Steve and Sephiroth was much shorter than expected, which makes me really confident that the second season was in fact assembled/greenlit in 2019 just like Imran Khan said.

I can't think of any other reason for the massive 6 month timegap betwen Byleth (last character of first season) and Min Min (first character of second season), other than season 2 not having entered production until the second half of last year.
It helps that Steve not only started development when the devs went into lockdown, but also he was pushed back to be announced near Minecon.

Curious: With the Hero and Sephiroth trailers giving Galeem and Dharkon some presence in them, do you guys think by the end of Vol.2 that World of Light will get some kind of content update?

Feel like KOS-MOS getting in would be like getting Morrigan after Ryu (in this case, Pac-Man fro Namco).

You get the poster boy first, then the poster girl of crossover second.

And while Xenosaga is over, Xenoblade is basically it's successor & KOS-MOS did apparear in 2, so she ain't that irrelevant compared to others characters. (she's still getting merchandise to this day)
While KOS-MOS is popular, her franchise is not, and unlikely to ever get a new installment again.

After Light & Darkness, there's of course the power of Nothingness.

Kingdom Heart told me that, so that must mean we're going to get a new boss, of course.

Banjo is unlikely to get a new game for the future, yet he still got in Smash thanks to fan requests.

Not saying KOS-MOS is on the same level, but being part of a dead franchise ain't a death sentence for sure. (Plus she kinda work as a rep for Xenoblade in a way, as she was made by Monolith studio before they joined Nintendo)

An expansion to WoL would be great if it had locations related to DLC fighters plus even more spirits, but I have my doubts it will just happen.

I mean, it's not like Banjo-Kazooie is also ever getting a new installment again. If the character is marketable and will make people pay for them then I don't think there's any problem here.
Except Namco Bandai eliminated the possibility of a new installment by saying that doing so is not profitable enough.

Don't think the point there that KOS-MOS getting in would get us a new Xenosaga game.

Morrigan & even Jedah got in MvC:I, yet that hasn't improved the chance of the franchise to come back from the dead...again.

Sometime, some characters can just get into crossover games & still sell due to them being popular enough, despite their franchise being underground.

...Okay?
And I just said that this doesn't matter if the character is marketable. We already have third party characters from franchises that likely won't get a new installment again. KOS-MOS is marketable and still crosses over in other games, afaic that's enough reason to think she has a shot.

I just don't know why Namco Bandai would pick her over someone from some of their more successful and profitable IPs like Tales of, Tekken, or even Digimon.

That's not what Wunderwaft was saying. They were saying that, if enough people are going to be willing to pay for the character, they can still be included regardless of whether or not they have a new game on the horizon. (for example, Banjo-Kazooie)

As we've seen with K. Rool and Banjo-Kazooie, along with countless examples before this (Ice Climbers, Pit at the time of his reveal, Lucas, Simon and Richter Belmont, Terry, Marth...), relevancy doesn't seem to be a huge factor in determining who gets in or who can't be included.

Who the hell cares what Bamco thinks? If their opinion was relevant they would maybe have someone other than Pacman by now

Why would Nintendo pick her then?
Why the **** would Nintendo pick Sephiroth? Maybe we should stop asking these super deep meta-questions and not try to find reasons behind it. :nifty:

Because she's a cool robot that has a multitude of weapons and moves and she is treated by Monosoft as their mascot. You might think I'm simplifying things, but from my point of view speculation tends to complicate the reasoning for why characters get in.

You're comparing a girl who's series is dead and is only kept alive through crossovers to one of the most iconic villains in all of gaming. Bad comparison

Yeah KOS-MOS ain't happening lol. If we get any Xenoblade characters it's gonna be Elma.

to reference The Most Popular Girls in School, "I want... KOS-MOS. No, Elma. No! KOS-MOS! No! BOTH."

yeah pretty much, very few people expected Sephiroth would make it in over the likes of Geno, 2B, Neku, Sora etc (myself too admittedly) and yet here we are :drshrug:

That's the kind of stuff Sakurai cares about, not Nintendo.

Riley please, we got people like Banjo and K. Rool who were dead in the water, and literally no one, NO ONE was predicting Sephiroth because they didn't think Nintendo was going to choose him. If it happens, it happens, there doesn't have to be a cold logical reason, this was kinda out the window the moment we started off with a goddamn ARMS character.

Because she's a cool robot
I used to hate KOS-MOS because of text leaks but this sentence in this arguments makes me want to support her now lmao

Yeah, I don't know why Nintendo would pick her over other NB characters.
Because Monolith might ask her?

Sure, they could ask Rex or Elma, but the former is in this weird gray area due to being a Mii Costume, and other isn't as recent (forgive me for saying this, Rie)

There's no way to tell for sure, and trying to shot down the idea for now is just a way to make speculation less enjoyable for some folks.

You don't have to like her or see her as the more probably of the bunch, but let's not act like she has 0% chance, please.

LMFAO

Imagine comparing one of, if not THE most famous JRPG villain ever to a ****ing Xenosaga character
I wasn't saying Sephiroth wasn't a famous JRPG villain, I'm saying no one thought Nintendo was going to choose him in a list. Don't put words in my mouth.

Go sit in the ****ing corner.

Rex's Mii Costume was basically only a consultation prize because they couldn't make him playable during the base game, and some people think that he has good chances for the DLC.

Why would Nintendo pick her then?
The one timeline where I could see KOS-MOS getting in would be if Nintendo asked directly to Monolith Soft which of their characters they would want in Smash, then they all said KOS-MOS only for Nintendo to be like "fine, we already work with Bamco anyway". Is that likely? No, but it's still a small possibility, and not realistic at all, even if, well, we already got a character anounced for this pass who was extremly unrealistic until he got anounced.

Also the comparisons to K. Rool and Banjo feel disingenuous because those two were some of the most popular and requested characters for Smash. I don't think the fan support for KOS-MOS is anywhere near their level in that regard.

I don't know chief, when the DLC started some people were afraid that we were going to get nothing but shill picks from Nintendo. But.....we got characters that had little to no appearances in Nintendo consoles like Joker and Sephiroth, characters that won't get new installments like Banjo, and characters that aren't that big or requested like Terry. KOS-MOS doesn't seem that farfetched when you put all these things together eh?

Yeah. KOS-MOS has nowhere near as much fan request as those two.

Thing is, we only know if it's true when he is made playable.

Rex Mii (& Nia Mii too) might be the only playable XB2 character we get, as much I wouldn't want that, it's impossible to tell for sure if he be playable later, especially now we only have 3 slots & Mr.Vilain JRPG in the roster.

Plus we could need more guns, and lady, and guns.

Hero came with WoL Very Easy Mode

what if Sephiroth brings WoL Very Hard Mode...? 🤔
also to add to this remember how in Sephiroth's trailer once he killed Galeem, their light orb lost its light and turned black

it would be ridiculously fitting if the Very Hard symbol was just a black dot

very easy's symbol is a pink dot, kinda like Kirby
