Despite what people say now, I suspect down the road, when the next Smash game is a thing, people will say Ultimate's style was too washed-out.

That's my hunch.
Yeah, I agree. I will say Ultimate's renders are better than Smash 4's renders. But Smash 4's renders were a massive improvement over Brawl's renders.

For example, they removed Bowser's boobs pecs, and thank goodness they did that.

Also...

I HATE IT SO MUCH. The realistic mouth is so freaky, it actually makes me slightly wince. Jigglypuff was so ugly in Brawl.

This is just a pipedream but I want to see a battle royale game similar to Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros 35 but it's all about Touhou where it's a shmup similar to Phantasmagoria of Flower View and also a remake of the PC-98 games or a collection port o the Windows game for the Switch coincide with the announcement of Reimu and Touhou in Smash, that way it would be easier for newcomer to get into the series.

What are your opinions on the Smash 4 renders? Smash 4's renders were very, VERY saturated.
i like them but you can tell that they were made with the amiibos in mind hence the boring, fairly static poses. i feel like ultimate managed to strike a good balance between the more cartoony smash 4 and the grittier brawl. would like some more color tho.

Personally I wouldn't be too upset if the next Smash went in more of a cel-shaded artstyle, but I'm not sure how well all the characters would work. DK would probably look weird.

I just look at green hoodie Little Mac and it's so nice, so I have to wonder.

Yeah. I agree with that critique. Most of the characters are in pastels, and they don't really pop because of it. Some of them are even discolored, such as Pikachu (too light) and Bowser (too dark).

I hope that we get a Black Mage Mii Costume with Sephiroth.
Perhaps even a Deluxe Mii Costume.
But my gut is telling me that Geno's getting that role. ☹

Hmmm.... Oh, Madotsuki. You're still my longing choice, but the profile picture department just needs something different right now. The signature, profile in general, really. Something has swept over me and I don't quite feel the same. It's a sort of elation.

Also, I just found out you can change fonts in posts. Courier New is a nice font. I think I'll be using it from now on. I just wish I could pre-set it like my text color, since I'll probably forget now and then. If it bothers anyone though I'll give it up, haha.

That would be the most absurd, hectic, cluttered, impossible to manage nonsense I've ever considered in my entire life. I need that immediately.

Speaking of amiibos, I'm still salty that we're not getting one for the new Zelda design. By far the best design she's ever had in Smash. I would kill for an amiibo.

Hey, my gut feeling has never been wrong. Except when it seemingly was, but I was being sarcastic those times. Am I being sarcastic with my current predictions? Am I dead serious? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The more i look at the reference to the Nibelheim fire, the more it looks like the fire behind DOES NOT belong to any stage that comes to mind. Way too detailed from the angle used.

Yep, i'm thinking that's a victory pose.
It'd be the best victory in the game if true.

We're going to get a compilation of everyone clapping while the victory screen burns, aren't we?
A chaotic victory screen for a villain. Do it Nintendo.

My uncle's dog's friend's owner's sister's husband's roommate's father works at Nintendo

Gut feeling.
Imo crash 4 selling points are Legacy, Relevancy, hit in japan and 0 redundancy with anything currently on the pack. not counting popularity...

If i was forced to bet on a character i would bet on crash. but just because ithink is teh most pausible, doesnt means i think he is practically in. anything can happen at this point.

I think it'd be kinda poetic if they went back to the comic bookey artstyle from the first game, but with artwork that's not so...

yeah...

If they could manage it, it would be cool if each character took some cues from their game's artstyle. For example, the Super Mario characters would have nice clean outlines like their portraits and stamp artwork from Super Mario 3D World, while the Street Fighter characters could have outlines that look like they've been painted in since that seems to be a common aesthetic choice from Street Fighter IV onward.

Well I'd certainly like to see more Battle Royale games like Super Mario Bros. 35 and Fall Guys. Those are pretty fun. But then again, one of the main reasons I tried Fall Guys was that the art direction/artstyle/etc actually looked appealing to me, whereas alot of Battle Royales in the vein of Fortnite and PUBG, Fortnite and PUBG included, just looked very unappealing to me.

Also, the sheer nerdgasm of being able to do the late 90s console wars between Sony, Sega and Nintendo on a game published by the latter.

It would absolutely be a big moment to see Mario, Sonic and Crash fight it out for anyone who grew up at that time.

I Wanna see a Smash Bros Battle Royale game with 99 Players, and Smash gameplay. Would be fun

Is this thread going to turn me into a Touhou fan?
What should be turning you into a fan isn't people talking about it, but rather you trying it and seeing if you enjoy it.

I know Touhou isn't really my cup of tea because I suck at bullet hells, but I can still appreciate the characters and especially music.

Whether that makes me a fan or not doesn't matter because the point is I like what I like by seeing for myself if it's good, and I'm sure that applies to most people here.

On Nintendo's servers?

That would be the most unplayable game ever.
I think by the time this Happens, Nintendo will hopefully get with the Program

-----------------------------------------------

On Another Topic, I'm Gonna Speculate and say that Sephiroth's DLC Tournament will be based on Swordfighters. I Believe we haven't gotten a Tournament based on Sword (Weird with all the Swordfighters in the game), and Sephiroth's Long Sword is Arguably the most Iconic part of his Design and Gameplay.

If you guys like to buy into Tourney Theory Crafting, this would have Interesting Implications on the Rest of the Pass. Perhaps not though

It will be funny if Crash doesn't end up getting included considering he's been probably the most consistently paraded around high-chance character since we first saw Joker.
You're not wrong. I would've had a similar sentiment regarding Dante at one point; these things happen. Or rather, sometimes don't.
