I'm still in utter shock that Sephiroth's in Smash. I haven't been this suprised with a character since Plant, and that was a very different form of surprise. That was more of a "haha, you got something i never saw coming", Seph is "HOLY **** WHAT? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!".

I've gotten over it, but I can almost guarantee you it's only because I don't have any connections to him. Man, what a reveal. Definitely the best one so far in terms of overall circumstance and excecution.

I was one of the people that actually defended his/Tifa's chances, and considered them underrated. But even I was blown away when it actually happened, though granted it was more so for how HYPE his reveal trailer was; rather than being surprised that Seph actually made it in. It's definitely been my favorite reveal in Smash Ultimate's lifespan so far.

I feel so weird because this is the very first time I've ever been indifferent to a Smash reveal (regarding the character itself). I felt literally nothing and I don't know to feel about that.

Maybe it's because I only played FF7 for like an hour then got bored. Idk, even Joker was shocking and Persona 5 is still deep in my backlog.

I want to be as excited as all of you, lmao.

Before the reveal, for a long time before the reveal too, Sephiroth was in a really strange spot honestly - a character that a lot of people would like the idea of, but felt too unrealistic to be considered worth discussing. Probably one of my favorite picks thus far for that reason alone. Would love to see similar choices; those whose current place in speculation amounts to "I'm afraid to ask-"

I'm sort of neutral TBH. I don't really have any meaningful connections to FF and Sephiroth, so I personally would've preferred a second Sonic or Mega Man character instead.

I'm glad FF are finally getting the content they should've gotten in the first place, but I'll be the oddball and say Min Min and Steve were more exciting for me, if only because I have history with their respective franchises.

I never played FF7 and I'm still shocked at this. The dearth of Final Fantasy content, the legendary status of One Winged Angel, and the 11/10 trailer all mixed together.

But I'm a 90's/2000's kid, so even though I know little about FF7, Sephiroth vs Cloud was everywhere for me growing up, so I'm ecstatic to have him.

The production values of CGI Smash trailers are always great but I'd dare to say this one specifically was nuts. Specially the transitions between gameplay and CGI.

And the execution was 10/10 as you said. Though I guess having ****ing One Winged Angel playing during the trailer already makes any video way cooler.

Him being a completely surprise and not being leaked beforehand also helps a lot.

Same. I discovered Final Fantasy in the PS2/GCN/XBox era through my buddy, Chris, who is an absolute fanatic for Final Fantasy.
So while I didn't play it in 1997, I played it well before Cloud was in Smash.

I feel like Geno's chances rely on whether or not he gets a Mii Costume with Sephiroth. And there's a chance that Mallow also gets a Mii Costume, and if that's true, we'll know if Cacomallow is real or not.

I just realized that Sephiroth and Alucard, both 1997 PlayStation mascots, look THE EXACT GODDAMNED SAME!
Alucard's Spirit battle HAS to be updated to Sephiroth now.
But Min Min wasn't even replaced by herself, so I'm not holding my breath.

I get that Cacomallow looked really plausible for a while but let it go, please let it go, come on. It's over, man.

Some person made a couple mods (which, hey they did a great job) and put a video up on 4chan showing it off while also trying to send a (almost certainly false) signal that they were the same person behind the Ken leak, a leak which actually was legit.

If the story was the slightest bit different than this, we'd have seen something by now; if not the damn costumes it would've at least been some other leakers maybe chipping in about it. It's been debunked by the passing of time. The footage wasn't faked; it's not even really fake per se, just a mod being pawned off as something it wasn't; future official DLC.

I mod the game, I know how it goes, and modding Mii outfits is no different than modding fighter alts, or anything else. "Miis can't be modded" was PIDOOMA misinformation.
