Are people seriously disappointed by Terry (and Hayabusa really??)?

Like, I woulda preferred, Mai, and Nako has a lot of potential too. But c’mon man, it’s Terry. What’s not to like? He has some cool moves, tons of quotable catch phrases, and he’ll probably come with some Ex Meter Himmick or something. Like, if you REALLY think about it, which of the two makes more sense.

FF is one of SNK’s first ventures into fighting games, it feels like the sort of thing Sakurai would go for. Plus, if they didn’t do Smash x Rareware, there’s no way they’d do Smash x SNK. So they have to settle for one IP. KoF could work, but if it’s KoF, then you’d go for Kyo, who’s significantly less popular and iconic than Terry.

And anyone saying Hayabusa is boring needs to look into Ninja Gaiden. Inazuma Drop, Tons of weapons, Shuriken, Ninja Magic... He’d be your “heavy” Ninja.

For me, Doomguy, Hayabusa, Monster Hunter, Geno, and an SNK character are all great picks to fill out the roster tbh. I’m happy it’s turning out that way.

I wouldn't be, but the main reason some would is because then they'd complain about there being "no real surprises" in the Fighter Pass.

Now, I already wrote up about my thoughts on who the last character could possibly be, so if you really wanna talk about a real surprise, I can't wait to see how people would react to Dynasty Warriors.

It's all about demographics. Never touched a PS4? Probably don't care about Joker. Not from Japan? Probably don't care about Hero. Missed the N64? Probably don't care about Banjo & Kazooie.

Pretty much my reasoning for why this pass has been lackluster for me personally. Add on the fact I’ve only heard of King of Fighter’s/Fatal Fury, but have never actually played it or even seen gameplay of it and there’s your reason for my disliking of Terry’s inclusion as well.

The only reason I’m alright with Banjo-Kazooie is cause I’ve heard people requesting them for a LONG time and they were honestly pretty big mascots.

Not saying any of the other 3 characters don’t have their own merits, as I’m sure they do, I’ve just never heard of them with as much frequency to consider them big characters.

Edit: And for the last time, I’m not trying to attack anyone on any of their feelings/opinions. Just making sure that gets across so I don’t offend anyone, because I don’t really need/want to start an argument with anyone.

There's Female Erdrick and Sofia (Female Solo). There's also Anlucia from DQX.

The Heroes of Dragon Quest III and IV have female versions. They can use magic and equip the legendary equipment just like their male counterparts.

DQ IX and X use custom made characters with an avatar creator.

Edit: I feel it's worth adding that I was very upset that the former two female heroes weren't included in Smash and that the Dragon Quest character was all male, so for the sake of people that want more women, I'm holding out hope for another female character in the pass.

I don't know about you all, but Fiends from Ninja Gaiden can mesh with Castlevania monsters. I'm not saying the trailer rumor is real, but I can imagine homages to these with the Castlevania trailer setting:

I remember when I would type in "Terry Bogard Smash Bros" in Youtube and this was one of the only videos that would show up. Crazy how things have changed in the last few days.

I fit this demographic as well. I've just accepted that my most hype picks like Amaterasu won't be included for a long time, and have had a lot of fun with the characters I did get.

The SNK Heroines' trailer was all like "This is my world! You can't escape the genderbending!" so I wonder how they'll show it off if they decide to add it.

Joker makes no sense to have a female alt since kasumi isnt an alt for joker
Hero doesnt have girl alts due to him having the 4 different heroes gimmick
Theres absolutely no reason to NOT do fem terry considering how asked for and popular she is and it fits in with their being a 3rd voice slot left despite us only getting 2 more characters

I think the only thing that would prevent fem Terry from being in Smash would be hitboxes. It's the reason why Lucina is her own fighter and not an alt to Marth which was apparently planned during Smash 4's development.

I think it was more a decision of not having the Falchions having the same hitboxes rather than the character being male or female. Sure Lucina was shorter but she isn't anymore so that wasn't the issue either.

Theyre actually the same height and wii fit trainer exists who has different body types. Terry and fem terry being the same height helps a lot. Lucina being an echo in 4 was most likely due to her and marth having different swords so sakurai had a reason to justify it.

The Dragon Quest 3 and 4 heroes have female versions, but 8 and 11 don't. I feel like they didn't do the female alts for the sake of consistency, since it'd be weird if only two of them had female alts

Also, if they're able to make it work, I'd be down for Fem Terry. Even if it's just a non-canon genderbend from a mediocre waifu fighting game, it'd be a fun addition and give us at least one female character for DLC

On the subject of Mai, if she makes it in, like another ninja in Smash (Sheik), I wouldn't mind if she got unused concept art as her costume:

A2 (she used to have a Geisha looking intro costume and this looks close to it), B2, C (somewhat) H2, G (somewhat), I, and J look cool, IMO and can make it in with little to no modifications necessary. Personally, I like most of the concept art over her default look. I understand her look is iconic, but I wish she took a move out of Athena's playbook and changed it up once in a while lol.

I've put more hours than I'd like to admit into both DQ and BK. I only own DQ9 but I've put more than 300 hours into it easy, probably similar to BK but can't really check easily.

Welp, if Verge and Sabi say it's the same guy, then there goes speculation until the Direct confirms it.

Still, this is the first time all this started only because of an error on Nintendo's part. Given how low most people were rating SNK's chances of getting any rep, this would've probably turned out to be a Joker-level reveal in that it'd have caught everyone off guard, especially given how many people would've been banking on Ryu or dreading Tracer instead. It would've been great, especially if our leakers kept quiet until the Direct day.

As far as surprising reveals would've gone, SNK is a fantastic choice.

Ah well. We may not get those pure-shock reaction videos, but we'll still have a new character from a deserving series. And honestly, the guy reminds me a lot of Captain Falcon, whose playstyle I swear doesn't have any real alternatives on the entire roster.
